  1. Thanks! This is one of my first large mocs made with mostly constraction parts. I figured what better way to fill in the spaces than with large cumbersome parts that can be difficult to use. I wanted to use brain slugs and onua mistikas gun shroud so bad and managed to get them both into the leg assemblies.

Id have tried some red in his face, but in the end i feel black was a more imposing choice. The construction of the face could be applied to just about any character by switching up the parts used in the face plates. I may try a large scale toa someday....

  2. I am happy that you all like it. It was a long process to build this and took me almost a year to build i between lifes happenings.

I agree on his feet they are a little big, but it kinda gives him a cartoony appeal.... it looks cool when he is posed running. I may try and rebuild his feet later but they seem to work for now. Its stance is incredibly stable. I might drop the saddle a bricks height. I cant remember if it was raised due to clearance issues or not. Ill have to see....

EDIT: The saddle cannot be lowered without remaking the base or choosing a different turntable. The one i have under there is the firm click type which has a tall base. I can lower it almost two brickheights if i had a flat turntable.

I hope to get my Pteranodon finished soon to accompany this. The medium blaster on this dinos right side crosses over to the pteranodon as well as the deinonychus, so those may be he next two add ins.

Also noticed that i uploaded a couple of the wrong photos that had some parts that i forgot to put back into his frill after unpacking him from my brickcon tote..... more pics to come haha

  3. Thry a variety of socket and balljoint combos. Sometimes youll find that using old style toa or rahkshi arms can prove useful as a waist when they are built into the body. It has to be able to support some weight if its a large moc. Like mentioned above try different combinations. Make a few types of waists only and see how they compare to one another then incorporate the one you like best into the moc.

  4. This is one of the mocs I was truly hoping thatd get into the top tier and you made it! I love his head design, and I like the idea of a villain of light.... Overall very awesome and well deserving of placing! Congrats!

  5. I've always had a love for this old toy line from the late 80's. I grew up with Dino-Riders and ever since I got into Bionicle I have wanted to build them on epic proportions. Now that I have enough pieces and the skills to build them, I am trying my hand at them and liking the results! I want them to all retain an action feature like the original toys had.

This is my first completed Dino-Rider model. This is the Rulon Monoclonius with Mako. Mako is a hammerhead shark headed Rulon warrior. The dinosaur has head ramming action and can be seen below in the video link. Theres more photos in my gallery on Flickr.

Google Dino-Riders if you want more details on the characters and story. You will see whats in store for the future....

There were some good creations, though I have noticed quite a few old MOCs from years back posted here (which honestly I consider a too easy and a bit lazy way), not to mention the way too many Makuta MOCs. I'm not saying don't build them, but please take a second to think of an idea before you go "Let me do an obvious thing only I thought of out of the X people who are on this site".  I have feeling that 607 submission quite quickly dropped to 50 and from then on got harder to decide. Don't get me wrong here, I'm sure everyone did their best with their entries, but too many people chose quantity over quality in my opinion. Personally I would've had a rule about the amount of submissions per person, but it doesn't matter now, we just have to wait and see who are the semi-finals then after that the finals.

Yeah, Makuta mocs are really unoriginal. Whoever entered one of those is a total idiot. Heh heh. Yeeeeeeeeeeaaah.

    Hey! I made a Makuta! D=

So did I. I think that was a very insensitive comment that person made to those who built a Makuta for their entry, as there were a lot of really cool Makutas built for this contest. I particularly like Shadrahks :)

  7. I really enjoy the feel that this moc evokes. He has this creepy demonic flare that pierces your soul. The entry pic is striking.

I like how you've designed the head. The face is interesting and has a lot of details that make for a nice shape. The teeth are particularly interesting :) nicely done!

The ribcage is also very lovely. The body style flows together well without the limbs being over complicated.

  8. I am glad you all like him! It toom a dozen capes, 6 back to back for each wing. It took a little work to get the edges to bind with the connectors but the end result was worth it. He is very stable and can be set up in a variety of dynamic poses. Hes one of my favorite creations by far! Uuber menacing Makuta! :3

  9. The flatness on the back is how the newer "rider forward" snowmobiles really are. If anything, Ill make a bag to put on it, or a rack with a gas can. The angle of the footwells is a bit steep, but I cant change them due to how the undercarriage is supported. I'm gonna build a bigger one next time... As far as the skis go, they are wide and flat. Kopaka's swords would be too big, plus they look like ice skates. The liftarms are the proper scale to the rest of the sled :)

As far as T.O.T. goes, major revampage for trials of terror. When I submit the new mocs, there will be animations to go with it. Im still lining up some good filming equipment, and still fully intend on making the movie, especially after being inspired by some awesome bionicle stopmo I have seen lately. I am going to simplify the main characters for ease of animation, and the existing "matoran" that were fully articulated with fingers will be the Toa of Kaiva Nui.... but that can be discussed at a later time.

  10. On a real snowmobile, there are paddles molded into the one piece rubber track. Not only do they get awesome traction in snow, they can also skip across deep water, ride in sand, grass, mud etc.. (granted that stuff wrecks em) Lego does not make a part like this, so until I can get a long enough linked mini track to replace the chains that I used, its a low traction device LOL ;)

Arpy, I've never stopped building, just haven't been posting publicly ;) I have some insane projects going on right now!

I've tried a few different pieces to get the tunnel taper right, but the way the skid is assembled, the existing footboards of the tunnel are a major structural part. I've even tried using some system there, but it looks bad. I think if i make some more accessories, like a bag, and maybe even build a taillight, itd help it some. The tube on the front is the bumper. On the real deal the bumper has space to grab on and tug if you get stuck.

  11. The track is set on gears and rolls right along. If it was larger I could motorize it. Ill eventually replace the blue pins, I just didn't feel like digging for the black ones at the time.

O, and this snow thing, its cold white and poofy, and soaks you to the bone when it melts on you lol

Glad you like the moc :)

  12. Decided to build me a slightly bigger than miniland scale version of a 2011 Arctic Cat M8 ltd 153" track snowmobile out of Bionicle pieces. Its a pretty close rendition to the real thing. I decided to build it without the windscreen on it, cause thats how I ride mine.... windy It has suspension in the rear, and the front a-arms articulate, and you can pose/steer it. I want to make a stopmo with it once winter hits... hehehe Enjoy 9520280657_420a5c4b03.jpg 9520278867_585f696cbd.jpg 9520279759_6b39681a7b.jpg
