    HAL, my trusty Laptop is injured. Injured, because it is not a software but a hardware problem. He doesn't like lateral movement much these days. To make it short: Something is up with the display connection to the boards inside, either with the connection to the graphiccard or with the cable itself. There is no data-loss and everything is still performing well but it quite frustrating to have your screen fail on you just because you lifted the Laptop up so the SD-slot was easier to access.
    So I called the company, I'm still in the warranty period and just traveling a lot is not a good argument for bad treatment of a laptop because...well, because that is what you do with Laptops, you take them with you.
    Today they are going to come to pick it up. Shipping and repair is usually taking up to a week, according to the guy from support.
    Which means this: This week, my ability to be online and to work on my art is severely compromised. I will try to keep up here and in other places but I'll be rare.
    The week after, I'll be on holiday. I do not know wether or not I will have the laptop then but I prolly won't take it with me.
     
    Long story short: Don't expect to see me much the next two weeks. Though I will try to be around.

    Hey guys. Nothing new from, except more art on the way, but today I am not here to blog about anything related to me.
     
    Crimson Jester, which all of you who ever stepped into the the BZPRPG in the past few years should know, at least by the name, has asked me to let you all know that he's currently taking some time off BZP. He lost two good friends this month, so you know why.

    After years of looking at great mocs and wondering weather I should enter in a contest or not, I decided to take a apart some of my sets and actually put something together. And I did.

    Had the rare opportunity to see one of the few concerts legendary BÖC were ginving in Germany. Granted, I did not know all their songs before going, but I always liked their hits and they certainly delivered! Best money ever spent this year!
     
    Probably should have brought a cowbell for Don't fear the reaper, just for fun ^^

    Much better than I feared, not as good as I'd hoped.
     
    Major props to the art department of the film, the movie looks great and the CGI was really well-integrated. Scenes where characters and dinos were interacting in closeups looked really nice and it actually felt like an actual creature was there and getting touched, not just a green-skinned thing that was replaced later. I think some animatronics were used, but it's hard to tell.
     
    The premise of the new bad dino is also cool, turning living creatures into products to be marketed and focus-group tested. The Raptor-Squad was a very cool idea as well, but depending on how much you're willing to suspend your disbelief, you might be disappointed or think its silly.
     
    In the end, the moral remains the same though: Don't mess with nature. I was hoping for a Jeff Goldblum cameo and him going "How many times do I have to tell you 'I told you so'?" but no luck there.
     
    Which is also where the downsides start: The plot is very predictable, especially if you've seen the trailers. It's pretty obvious after the first 15 minutes who will live and who is dino-grub, with one exception IMO. While the characters are likeable, especially Chris Pratt as Owen, brothers Zach & Gray and of course Dr. Wu, the rest are not quite as interesting.

    The other thing that bothered me a bit was the comedic relief. In the end nearly every action-scene was followed up with a funny one-liner or reaction. The first movie had those scenes too, but the difference was that the characters were playing it straight and in character in that film; here it feels forced because there is just way too much of it, which takes away from the suspenseful scenes and a lot of times feels out of place considering the situation the characters are in.
     
    Overall I really like the movie. It's a fun 2 hour adventure film, but if you prefer to wait until it comes out on DvD/stream, you're not missing anything by not seeing it in cinemas. I would rate it equal or a little higher than Lost World, definitely better than 3 but not as good as the original.

    So, I did as threatened and stopped by ubisoft Montréal, met one of the guys who worked on AC 1+2 and Brotherhood and thanked the guy randomly, then went to the lobby and...oh, I am not gonna spoil it

    As you may or may not know I also will do the Nano this year again. After last years admittedly halfway quit on attempt, this year I have a plot, I have charachters and I think I can pull through with this one. 
    And I will start writing, right now. Don't expect me to be online much. Maybe a bit BZPRPGing inbetween (yay, more writing?).

    Sadly it fits my situation right now, but I'm confident things will turn out for the better again, I just need to wait.

    Definitely not the last time I've been in BC though.

    Good News!

    I was at the hospital again today to sign some forms, also to check the results of my examination for the army (They use the same to determine how healthy you are and what sort of work you can do) and that my personal info and CV are correct. 
    I also called the head-office of patient-care, to tell them on which station I want to be.
     
    So, now, from July 1st, I'll be working in the admission/Emergency room. ^^
