  1. An alternative is just selecting the text, using copy, then pasting into the reply with Ctrl-V.

The cause of it not working might be your browser's security settings, though, since on my computer when I try that option in Chrome I get a dialogue explaining to that effect.

  2. Ah, here we go. So many great entries, so many perfect Halloween monsters to fit the theme. Witches, werewolves, bats, zombies, skeletons, jack-o-lanterns, disembodied hands. It was a tough choice!

But in the end, I voted for what had to be the most unique of these MOCs. Disty's chair stands out for being a completely unexpected scary concept that also has great parts usage. As Dr. Orrin sang (more or less) in Little Shop of Horrors, my choice "Will be a dentist! It will be a success!"

  3. I disassembled Tahu, Lewa, and Kopaka along with the six Protectors at the end of the summer when I was sorting my CCBS pieces. I got Pohatu recently, and I still need to pick up Onua and Gali. Once I have those three I'll leave them together for a while, I think.

  4. Great to see you MOCing again after all these years!

I like this quite a bit. Everything looks suitably ominous, like the face restraint and the various sharp tools and whatnot. I think part of the effectiveness is from how it channels the general childhood fear of dentists and their tools, which is a cool effect to get scariness from associations rather than it directly appearing as inherently frightening. It also makes me think of the dentist from The Simpsons: "First I'm going to be chiseling some teeth out of your jaw bone. Now hold still while I gas you!"

So here I was, thinking how I'd miss yet another BBC Contest because it was happening during a college quarter when I'm away from my parts and don't have the time to make anything anyway. But then I remembered that I had made a thing recently without posting it on BZP, and even better it actually fits the current contest! And so life was good.

  6. Yes technically the Nebula has a name, but if you read the petition in full I mention how we dont have to name THIS specific nebula, but get it on NASA's list for other potential candidates as well.

Doesn't that defeat the purpose of naming a thing after Bionicle because it actually resembles something from Bionicle?

  7. Well, explained in that way I guess it makes some sense why the name originally came about. But given that there are, you know, Lego bricks, "Brick Yellow" in practice sounds like it's supposed to be the standard yellow of a Lego brick, which is clearly false.

Of course, I don't think I use a single official color name anyway; the BrickLink ones are much more sensible and concise, and the level of pedantry in insisting on official names is a bit strange to me.

  8. I refer to them by what set they premiered on and what part they were on said set—thus "McToran Feet," "Inika Shoulder Armor," etc.

Yeah, I generally do that. Or, for older Technic pieces which I first really noticed though Bionicle, I refer to them by the appearance I know them best from, like "Turaga hand" or "Nuva neck."
