  1. CGI all the way. The 3D promo art for the original Toa is what I think would work best in terms of style. Not everyone appreciates the story, especially kids who only liked the cool looking toys. So give the kids the cool looking CG Bionicles and the hardcore fans their animated story. Everyone's happy. I don't personally think you could adapt it to a cartoon style all that well. I enjoyed the comics, but I don't think you could pull it off in anime/cartoon/whatever style for an entire TV series.

  2. Anything anime. It's like the guys are just plain lazy. :P

In the past when every scene was hand-drawn from start to finish, animators had to take shortcuts to keep up with deadlines and keep the budget from exploding. That shortcutting has been kept even now for similar reasons. Though there are quite a few shows that break the mold and have excellent animation throughout. Though I'm not disagreeing with your point, as Powerpoint seems to be the #1 animation program in Japan.

Most animation today is much choppier than older cartoons. Tom and Jerry was animated at an insane quality, as are the original Walt Disney's Silly Symphonies. However, I don't know what the time constraints back then were. Modern cartoons have to come up with a new show every week, which leads to choppier animation and reused frames with different backgrounds depending on the quality of the drawings most of the time. Sometimes even simpler designed cartoons fall victim to this as well, however. And every now and then, you'll get an above-decent animated show with amazing detail in the pictures.

As Pohuaki said, those older cartoon classics had much larger budgets and greater lengths of time to spend working. Nowadays cartoons are voice acted, storyboarded, drawn, and animated with almost no time leftover before their airdate. If I remember correctly, actual drawing/animation of a typical cartoon episode begins about 3-4 weeks before that episode airs. Counting time used for review, QA, getting OK'd from everyone and their pet dogs, and everything else means everything is drawn and animated in less than 2 weeks' time.

that being said, a good example of some odd animation would be the 60's Spiderman show.

Oh god. I love that show.
I don't think it's possible to not love that show.
  3. I haven't played this in forever, but it's still tons of fun. I should try playing again. If I remember right I had like 3-4 refined metals. I'm not sure if they're worth any more or less than they were 3 months ago. Does anyone happen to have a Jag, by the way? Never did find anyone willing to trade one.

  4. Either was would be fine. I know that no matter what I'm not going to understand most of it. And I really have no idea what I'm looking for. -Canama

Then start with something simple, like Lucky Star or A Channel.
I'm not gonna lie, A-Channel was pretty generic. And I'm not sure why you'd recommend Lucky Star to a person not overly familiar with anime (considering how much of the show is referential humor), but I'll have to disagree on that one as well. Not that either are bad shows, of course. Canama, since you can't really determine a genre, I'll throw a few out there. Look them up on Wikipedia for a synopsis and take off from there, anything that sounds interesting probably is. Code Geass (Can't really describe it, but an excellent watch)Full Metal Panic! (Good mix between humor and mech action)Soul Eater (Good fighting show, no powerlevel spirit friendship nonsense for the first 30-ish episodes)Cowboy Bebop (Please watch this one in English, Steve Blum is the best)Gyakkyo Burai Kaiji (About "the art of gambling". This one's edge-of-your-seat suspenseful but slow paced)Steins;Gate (Fairly recent, but if you like sci-fi and time travel this is the one for you)Paranoia Agent (This show is a pretty freaky but in a good way)Shinryaku! Ika Musume (I just threw this in here because it's one of my favorites, your mileage may vary. Slice of life show with a squid girl as the main character, basically) I can pretty much guarantee you'll find at least 2 of those interesting. PM me if you need help finding them or something or if none of them strike your fancy.
  5. I don't really watch anime, but as I'm learning Japanese I think some Japanese-language anime with English subs might help me get my comprehension skills up a little. Can someone point me towards a good series or two for someone who hasn't watched much anime before? -Canama

It depends, are you looking for something easier to understand (i.e. you're trying to understand as much of what's being said as possible without looking at the subtitles), or are you just looking to watch some anime and leaving the recognition in the backseat? If the former, I'd recommend something that is not complex in the slightest. I would guess this is most slice-of-life shows (be warned, cute girls doing cute things is the entire plot of 50-ish% of these), perhaps Saturday-morning fighting shows like Hunter x Hunter, etc. If the latter, there's tons out there, as was mentioned before Code Geass is a phenomenal series, though it's difficult to recommend anime unless you can be more specific about what you're looking for. Do you like suspense, drama, comedy, etc.?
  6. 1. Have you changed since BZP came back? Sure. It's been six months, I'd be surprised if people HAVEN'T changed.2. How have you changed? Became a lot more social and started selling tons of stuff on eBay. Making bank, yo.3. Have you noticed anyone else change? Not really. I haven't been active here in years so I wouldn't be the one to ask.4. *insert pointless question here* Are you kidding? Sayaka was the worst character, all she did was whine for 6 episodes and then die.

  7. Another brony debate, I see. Been there. Done that. Multiple times. Nothing new here.

People will argue about anything, I guess. On topic, I do miss a lot of the in-jokes of old, but I suppose more will crop up as the forum gears start turning again. BZP has only been back online for a few days so we can't expect forum-wide jokes to show up for a while. New, BZP material, anyways. Reddit's years-old recycled garbage doesn't count.
  8. This season is a lot less exciting than I'd hoped. For me, there's Ika Musume S2 (my personal favorite of the season), Working'!! (which no one has subbed for nearly 3 days now, not that I like HorribleSubs or anything), Persona 4 (QUALITY: The Animation), and Mirai Nikki. That's not counting 24/26 episode shows carrying over from the summer season, though. And on the topic of buying, my Kaiji S2 box set should arrive tomorrow. I am SO ready.

  9. There I changed it.

That's pretty immature, bro. Not cool.

As the others have said, it's a case of people finding other interests in the downtime. The line is dead and the story is updated very sporadically, so I imagine what kept people's interest was the forums themselves. With that community lacking, people turned to other boards and picked up other interests. As for the My Little Pony stuff, well, that's everywhere these days. I can't say I get it, but then again I'm a college student posting on a Bionicle fan forum, so what do I know.

And the ironic thing is that even if you don't get the fanbase at all, you know more about MLP than an overwhelming majority of people.
  10. Nothing really jumped out at me this year, but of course the winner will be one of the copypaste game series, just like every year. My money's on Gears 3 or Battlefield 3, but MW3 is also a contender. Skyward Sword and Skyrim will both probably win a few categories as well just because they're advertised so much.

  11. It doesn't seem to be much a problem, honestly. I watched a few episodes and it wasn't my cup of tea, but I can understand that other people may enjoy it. Sadly, the fanbase is ruined by an annoying vocal minority that makes me violently frustrated. But that kind of homicidal rage hasn't been awakened on BZP so I'd say there's no issue at present. And for the record, every meme stops being funny before they become widespread. The more you know.

  12. How much for: VezokZaktanAvakThokReidakHakannJallerHahliKonguHewkiiMatoroNuparuNidhikiThe Bahrag? List prices separately if possible

For an order that size, I'd want about $5 per canister set, $12 for Nidhiki, and probably somewhere around $35 for the Bahrag, + shipping (which isn't much if you don't mind the 7 day delivery time of Parcel Post).

    how much for bahrag

Probably about $40 + shipping, give or take. I'll take some pictures for you folks once my camera finishes charging, if you're interested. I won't post them in the topic in the interest of those with slower connections, but if you'd like some photos just PM me.
  13. Hey, everyone! Glad to see the forums are back up. It definitely took its time, but something is better than nothing at all, right?Anyways, I'm looking to get rid of some of my sets that are collecting a heap of dust, hopefully to send them to a good new home rather than the abyss of eBay. I don't really have set prices, so make me a reasonable offer and it's probably yours.READ: I prefer offers over having to set my own prices!Disclaimer: I am missing/can't find the boxes/canisters and instructions for many of these sets, but if I happen to come across anything related to your purchase later, I'll ship it to you for free. With that said, I'll go ahead and list what I have by year and series.Red - On Hold2001:Original Toa:LewaTahuOnuaGali (I'm pretty sure she's missing one of her weapons, but I'll keep hunting)2002:Original Bohrok:GahlokLehvokTahnokKohrokToa Nuva:Lewa NuvaTahu NuvaTitans:Cahdok and Gahdok (currently assembled as the Bahrag Spider, I'll take less if you don't need me to disassemble it)2003:Rahkshii:Lerahk (No Kraata)2004:Vahki:RorzakhTitans:Nidhiki2006:Piraka:ReidakHakannVezokZaktanAvakThokToa Inika:JallerNuparuHahliKonguMatoroHewkiiTitans (currently assembled as Vezon and Kardas, I'll offer it for pretty cheap if you make my life easier and take all three):AxonnBrutakaVezon and Fenrakk2007:Barraki:EhlekKalmahPridakMantaxToa Mahri:KonguTitans:NocturnMisc. Just leave a post here or PM me with what you want and an offer, and I'll get back to you ASAP. The more you buy, the less I charge for your order, as a general rule. I'm not looking to make megabucks, I just want to make sure everything has a good home.To make the transaction easier for both of us, I only accept payment by Paypal. It's easy to sign up for and is much safer than money order, cash in the mail, etc. Contact me if this isn't an option, and we can try to work something out. Thanks for looking, and happy shopping!
