I think I'm going to obtain ultimate geekhood soon.

I'm planning to listen to all 14 Studio release Pink Floyd albums this week, during my bus rides to work and back home, without listening to (or attempting to not listen to) anything in between these periods of time.

From the beginning to end, IN ORDER, regardless of how I feel about any of it. I'm also timing the morning albums to end EXACTLY when I get to work. (This is 71 minutes, by the way). I'm working on a schedule already:

    Piper: 41:52
    Saucerful: 39:25
    More: 44:56
    Ummagumma: 86:11
    AHM: 52:06
    Meddle: 46:46
    OBClouds: 40:30
    DSOM: 42:59
    WYWH: 44:28
    Animals: 41:41
    The Wall: 81:09
    Final Cut: 43:27
    AMLOR: 51:14
    TDB: 66:32
AVERAGE BUS TRIP TIME: 71:00 (between 9:19-10:30)

    ... I think I'm crazy. @_@

    Yes, I know it's broken.

Yes, I'm trying to fix it.

    Yes, I need a hug.

    No, not from you Erebus.

    Yes, from you ER :'D

I honestly got bored, and decided to copy Cholie outright, but with a more... Metro twist.

Buddy of mine (he knows who he is) said I shouldn't post it. I disagree. What do you guys think?

Also, if you can guess EVERY BLOCK'S MEANING, you win an eCookie.

I had planned to post like lists of top 10 stuff involving music with Necro. Then I got busy and didn't. Now I have like 2 days left to do so.

    Woe is me~ -Swert

So since I'm stuck on this machine I call SWERT01, I decided to reinstall TF2 onto it. I figure what the hey, I can at least go catch up on my items in the meantime.

Also, this is an actual conversation paraphrased I had earlier today:

"Hey folks, I'm bored and I'm downloading TF2, wanna watch a DVD?"
    "Sure, what?"
    "P·U·L·S·E?"
    "Sure."

    Best. Parents. Ever.

So yeah, watching that concert now. No complaints or thrown stuff at my head so far.

Xccj had his, so now I should keep a log of what I want.

    1) Weighted Storage/Companion Cube
If I make a WSC, I'd make it light up. If I make WCC, it'd just be standard. I can find enough plate to make the stripes light up.

    2) Microcity scale anything
I am fascinated by micro, being that I personally have limited parts in system. I can envision a whole table layout, using 8x8 plate as my base, either baseplate or regular plate. Nearly anybody could submit an 8x8 plate of any standard color, and we could just combine them. Imagine a playground made by fifteen different people, or even a 16x16 Dome building.

    3) Sounders FC on a soccer pitch
I could make all XI starter players of the 2011 Sounders FC team. Pipe dream, but I think it'd doable.

    4) Mata Nui stone
I think I could generate one similar to my cube, it'd be simple and unique.

    5) Mata Nui island (collab. project)
As you might be able to tell by now, I'm a -huge- System builder. Not in popularity, but in preferred building style. My boss, Dan Parker, suggested to me at BrickCon 2010 he wished to build the island of Mata Nui as a sculpture. The size he wanted was outrageously large, TOO large. For his idea to work, we would need at MINIMUM 90 15x15 baseplates, in length alone. We want to build much smaller than that.

It may happen this year, it may happen next year, it may happen in 2013 assuming we all live, but it's -going- to be built. It's too awesome not to be.

And yes, that'll be a huge project, regardless of its scale.
  7. Swert
But in reality? I'm working on the island project from home. And I was too tired to work anyway.

Soo... how's dem ToyFair pics? Yeah and stuff. Oppression from Admins and stuff. *running out of blogging material*

I already have the Mangai Volcano built. One or two little things to modify it, and it's perfectly ready to go.

I also had a "business" meeting with Dan about it. Stay tuned for updates on that front, and for you Pacific Northwestern members to gain a chance to participate (if you can)!

Likewise, I'm going to be plugging this on a certain media site (of the social kind) via the company's page. That way I'm promised to get builders and/or people involved.

And finally, most importantly, I also managed to convince Dan to bust out the Bionicle play pack (used in our education camps and birthday parties) so we can have people build Bionicle stuff while we build the island. Hence, it's a large event.

I will be taking photos, of course.

    Stay tuned! : D

Considering making this a Sounders Blog until I run out of premiership and can't update.

And why not? Nobody reads it anyway

Also, 2-1 against a team from Mexico in the CONCACAF Champions League, Quarterfinal first leg. Second leg to be in Mexico.

And no, I don't expect any more Sounders fans here. Sigh.

You may or may not have wondered what exactly I do at my job. If you have not, I forgive you and won't hold it against any of you. Honestly. If you -have-, here's a simple explaination: I'm a builder. I do building.

So, what do we build? This blog entry will be dedicated to one of them.

The LongNow Commission was very unique. The premise is there is a foundation setting up a 10,000 year clock in the Rockies. The model we had to build came from a component of this clock, a tooled out prototype element for something. There are numbers on this component, so we believe it is the indicator.

Another unique feature about this model is how the egg shape continues on downward through the model. It isn't just an extrusion that has been rotated, it's actually changing its shape from top to bottom to match each other. It's VERY fascinating.

When assembling, we went with a simple approach of "stack them up and rotate." Obviously we had to glue them using a special method and glue we use to lock it all down, but once it was done it wasn't going anywhere.

The numbering you might remember from an earlier blog entry. I designed the system, and Dan Parker (my boss) designed the sequence and built them. They are perfect and they fulfilled the client's request of "the geekiest system you can imagine for our numbers."

This is the final product. By far, this is my favorite product of our studio of all time. It was truly a labor of love, and hard-fought race to our deadline that felt so far down the line when we started, and coming at us too fast when it got there.

    It was -awesome.-

Cause there's a Swert coming your way soon!

(May 10th to the 13th, not set in stone yet, but it's planned.)

Probably avoiding anything major, but you never know.

    Go Seahawks!

"But Swert, Seattle didn't make it to the playoffs!"

    Who cares?

    "We do."

    Fine... GO 2012 SEASON!

So, I've not had much time to look at our stock of parts in the shop for it, since we've been preparing for various commissioned projects at the shop. However, I did get to sit down and look at a few key parts:

I found our stock of 32x32 blue baseplate, that'll be useful for the outer edge.

Went to look at the Bionicle Gold masks for statues, found the Kaukau we pulled is actually the misprint. Whoops.

I'm limited to construction-grade brick and plate, but tile and slope is fair game if we have enough. I also have those rock face pieces we can use, and I have an idea for Ko-Wahi which I'd love to test and share one of these days.

I'd love to build some things, but unfortunately we're limited quite a bit on scale. I might not be able to make my waterfall either. With any luck, we'll have stuff for everybody to build towards, no matter what it is.

And finally, I'd love to invite all of you to help (so I can sit down and guide ;D) but I realize this isn't possible. HOWEVER! If you are in the Pacific Northwest, ABOVE THE AGE OF 18, and capable of traveling to Tacoma, WA in March, I'll put you to work : D You won't get paid, this is all volunteer work, but the more the easier. (If you are not in the PNW, but capable of traveling via whatever means, I'll still accept your help.) Just shoot me a PM or email at swertmastra @ gmail.com to sign up. Please put in the subject line "Project: Build Mata Nui."

I look forward to building this, for myself, for Xccj, for my workplace, for BrickCon and Bricks Cascade (sorry BrickFair people ) and even for the Bionicle Community. This is without a doubt an amazingly large project, and I hope you will be a large part of it.

So I have to work very quickly tomorrow. Starting first thing in the morning, I need to do 3 Paradisa based LEGO sets for a birthday party tomorrow (LEGO Friends is the main theme, we're padding it up with stuff).

Oh, and I just know I have only one hour to do it in.

Keeping in mind it took me about 2 hours to work on one model already in something my boss said would take him "30 minutes."

Well that's fine, I'll have instructions and I can be flexible on the actual design, but for the most part it'll be pretty crazy whatever we do. And boy will it be tough, given my 1 hour restriction.

In other news I also built a brown building yesterday. It's nice. Might post photos later.
