Man, where did all this free time for gaming come from? : O

Also, 61.something in LSW3. Man, this game is massive. Think LEGO Harry Potter massive, only not as confusing to navigate as Hogwarts was.

So, I'm feeling pretty stoked with some of my buying options.

Tomorrow, I'm going to be buying an Iron Patriot (with gantry) from a friend. That's $22 well worth it right there.

After work, I'll be ordering the Eiffel Tower and Wyldstyle's motorcycle (I can't remember the direct set name off the top of my head) and a Joker keychain for my sister's birthday in June (eh, why not?) in addition to cashing in on the Martian Manhunter fig.

So yeah, that's 2 Superhero figs I'm getting for quite a bit more money than I should be spending on Lego right now.

    .... Everything is (expensive)!

So, money got tight this year for practically everybody I know, except my brother who's been promoted to manager of his department, and my grandparents who own stock in the good stuff like PepsiCo, which isn't going anywhere any time soon. Having said that, my gifts this year were modest, small, and will probably expand in time if someone goes out and does something about it.

My brother bought me XCOM: Enemy Unknown and gave me a MS Touch Mouse he bought at the company store when it was on sale for $30. The mouse retails for $80 on a good day, so I'm not complaining. He also plans to buy me a copy of W8 when he can, but I told him I'm in no rush since I'd rather upgrade the RAM first.

My grandparents gave me $35 in cash, which I used $20 on groceries already. I'll be holding on to that $15 for now.

My parents were impacted the hardest with a delayed paycheck causing plans to fall apart at the last minute, so they ended up snagging me three series 8 minifigs, and my understanding. I'm apparently also getting shirts as soon as they get said money. The figs were the Pirate, the bat and the Lederhosen kid. I'm fortunate enough I had none of these guys, plus I ended up not having to buy them at work, where it'd be $5 each (already opened, of course).

Overall, a very tight gift-giving experience, where I ended up seeing myself giving away more gifts than I received. No complaints from me, but I do wish I had at least gotten that Surface RT I asked my brother for

Oh, speaking of that, I did get to muck around with his briefly, and his Lumia 920, and I'm definitely looking forward to W8 and WP7.8 on my phone given the styling of both. I'm not looking forward to upgrading my RAM and wiping my harddrive, however. Sad panda is me.

    One guess.

So given Microsoft just lowered the price of the Xbox One back on Saturday, I decided to pick up an Assassin's Creed Unity Kinect-less bundle, $350. It didn't occur to me when I got it they also planned to give me AC4 as a bonus, which given I already had it on the 360 was a nice plus.

I then proceeded to buy Fibbage for $6 and Minecraft XBO edition for $5.

... So basically, I spent almost $400 (with tax) on a brand new console, 4 games, and basically a multipurpose controller (I found I could use my phone charging cable to connect it to my laptop, so YAY BORDERLANDS CONTROLLER <3) and I still have Lego Batman 3 coming in next week.

... Aaand an almost booked solid two months of work, of which I won't see much time in any of these games much before the weekends anyway. Sigh.

So Xccj visited the studio last Thursday. He has an okay write-up on his blog about it.

During his visit, we looked over the proposed space where we'll be building, and he and I got Dan sort of up to speed on it, where we'll have time to sit down and plan out how we intend to build all of it.

For the most part, we'll have everybody submit models and (if possible) detailed instructions on more complex parts so we can easily replicate it between both of us. That will take out the footwork of working on landmarks and gives us time to work on the actual model itself.

We're still in the planning stages, but it's going to be amazing. The model itself will probably take about a week (or so we hope) and we'll need to commit 200% each just to push it to completion.

If there are -any- members in the Pacific Northwest who can drop by in March for help (preferrably older members with licenses to drive for out-of-state) who wish to help build and wants the chance to meet a LEGO Certified Professional, drop me a PM or email me swertmastra (at) gmail.com with the subject line "Project BMN Volunteer" and we'll work out when and where you need to be : D The more the merrier!

So we've wrapped up the final components to the Death Star. It can now be happily assembled by one man in about 30-40 minutes. We'll put that to the test on monday when we finalize its assembly in a larger area.

Once it's done, we can pack it away and progress forward on more projects. Basically speaking, it's time to move on. No more dark side, we have to get going.

And I'm actually looking forward to moving on.

Oh also, my phone. I love it. That is all.

So, I'm currently off from work right now, both today and tomorrow. The rest of the week, I go in to work and do a workshop, then drop-in play days for kids paying. I also get to manage our train display (I'll link a Photosynth of it later on, need to make a better one.)

In addition to all of that, I also have a Christmas party at my brother's house I'm attending. I'm happily looking forward to that, if only because my brother just scored a Surface RT from work, plus I'd love to play around with his WP8 for a second or two. (I'm a MS geek, I know that, thank you for asking.) After all that, I then work 3 more days, rounding out my end of the year and taking work off from the 29th to the new year. Maybe I'll pick AC3 back up by then. Unlikely.

So yeah, tl;dr I'm busy and happy at the same time. Huzzah.

So, I get to work today, and lo and behold I'm already slammed into work. That's fine, that's why I'm there.

I had designed a model last year for Dan, a firehall based in New York (Hook & Ladder 8, also known as the Ghostbusters HQ) and we're not sure what happened, but it got damaged in a specific place.

So the back wall is removable. On one side is a set of windows and (badly designed) fire escape. On the reverse is a blank wall, that way we can put it in any display where we have limited room and need that space that the fire escape takes up.

So, I'm told it was damaged and -badly- repaired, so Dan told me to make a new one. Fine, done. He also had me work on a tunnel entrance for his train layout, and tomorrow we'll be building a Duplo mountain on top. So hey Xccj, I'll have Duplo experience for the BMN project : D

Finally, my day was actually improved when I got my boss' christmas gift ten minutes before taking off for work. He loves it (I'll post a photo of it tomorrow).

And I get more to do tomorrow XD

But good news? Friday and the whole weekend, L.A. Noire 8D So yeah, all in all I'm having a good time.

Oho man, we're not even close to being done, but I'm excited for this leg of the stretch. With two days to go, we need a bit of a miracle at this point to keep us going

I think on Sunday, if we don't end up working on the island, I'm going to post a random set of photos we took with my camera that shows behind-the-scenes and more in-detail photos of some of the construction methods used.

Also, I should post a few of our easter eggs and see if you can tell what they are. We have at least two that I know of so far.

Anything else you guys wanna see in detail? I'll take pics on Sat. of those areas.

Man, I'm bored. So I updated my blog with new stuff. More Green Lantern related, go figure.

In the real world I am in the middle of summer, so our schedule is down to 3 days a week in the studio. FORTUNATELY I'm busy working on something epic, that being a megafig of Iron Man. I may have described the last four before (Green Lantern, Captain America, The Flash and Logan (Wolverine) in street clothes) so this is a bit more challenging.

For the geeks out there, I'm designing the Iron Man 2/Avengers first-half Mk. VI armor on the torso, with the Mark III/Mark IV legs. The arms are solid dark red, done by another one of the artists. We're also simplifying the design, the back isn't getting as detailed, but the front is heavy in it.

I may recommend changes later on, if we decide to tone down the dark red and make it more yellow (akin to Mark 42) just to give it more color balance.

I'll try to get photos later on, I want to show off the progress as I go. I also desperately want to bring it with me to BrickCon, along with the other four, but it depends on Dan.

    Curse you, Niners.

    And you as well, Lions.

At least we're not 4th place NFC. Thanks for that, Rams : D

    Oh well, 8-8 season beats 2-14, RIGHT INDY & STL? : D : D

Alright, I'm not much for bandwagon hopping, but if I must I must... Packers or Saints for NFC, Ravens or Broncs for AFC. That's my choices.

Sorry for the delay winners, but I had good reason.

Two weeks ago my boss looked at me and said "I'm sick of these business cards, make me a new one."

So I did. We just got them last week. And I need to coordinate with him when to sign 6 brand new business cards so I can ship them with the winning prizes.

Basically, it's a logistics problem. It may take me another week or two to get it all out the door. But I am doing the best I can.

    Thank you.

So I just did a major test on my phone beginning yesterday.

Since Sat. morning, approx. 10:00-11:00 AM, it had been off the charger. It lasted 30 hours off the charger with very minimal usage over the weekend. I made about 9 phone calls on it, averaging about 5 minutes each call. I also ran the Skype app for about 20 minutes.

In other words? I love this phone. It lasted long enough in my opinion that it'll be a great addition to my arsenal of devices.

To my buddies at BrickCon and Bricks Cascade, you are welcome to trying it out if you want. It won't leave my sights while you do : |

Starting tomorrow, I'll go back to posting more Death Star photos. We should have the whole thing built up by then.
