Everybody's eagerly awaiting the release of the new LEGO Hobbit sets, and now there's a teaser site to tide us over. The main page features a map detailing Bilbo's big adventure, and each week a new portion of the journey is revealed in set form. Who or what is Purdue Pete? I confess, I didn't know either until the <a href='http://lego.cuusoo.com/ideas/view/29614' target='offsite'>Purdue Pete CUUSOO Project</a> reached its goal of 10,000 votes in a record-breaking 36 hours last week. For your information, "Purdue Pete" is the mascot for Purdue University, and the LEGO model was itself designed by one of the associate deans. The success of the project can be attributed to a concerted effort by the university to promote voting, and, if TLG decides to make this project a reality, it may be only the first in a series of models for college mascots. LEGO, like many companies in the toy industry, is already getting ready for Christmas, and Halloween ain't even over yet. Cratak has found that on some European versions of the LEGO home page (unfortunately not the UK, so no English), LEGO has introduced the <a href='http://legowish.com/' target='offsite'>Wishlist Machine</a>. It appears that you folks on the European mainland can produce a wishlist of LEGO products and earn points on the website for an opportunity to win LEGO sets with a value of 10,000 kr., whatever that means. Some sharp-eyed members have spotted a new LEGO website: Legends of Chima. While the site is currently only a teaser, it does have a few images, one of which shows a humanoid lion fighting a humanoid crocodile, which gives some clue as to the characters we will be seeing. The file names of the 3 images reference weeks, which hints at the possibility that we'll be seeing more soon!View the full article

LEGOLAND Florida has been working on its newest expansion, Star Wars Miniland. Opening on November 9th, the new section will feature scenes from each of the six movies as well as the Clone Wars animated series. No, we're not talking about the Lego Batman film. Lego, their first full-length theatrical film not based on any existing IP, has been bumped to release three weeks earlier than expected. The original release date was February 28, 2014, and the new date is February 7, 2014.
