Well now, so it seems that much has changed around here lately. :wakeup2:

Or maybe not. Maybe I'm just looking at it all in a different way, I dunno. Lately I find that about the only thing that keeps me coming back here is checking my inbox, which was flooded for quite some time (*curses non-permanent PMship*). I'm still somewhat active on BS01, though not for much longer, seeing as I'm preparing to leave for good. It's so hard to pull yourself away from something you're so attached to, and it'll take some work to fight the urge to go back on for just one more look at the Recent Changes. But I'll manage; it's what I do.

There's a very interesting debate topic in the Polls Forum regarding BS01 and Bioniclepedia which I've been monitoring since shortly after its creation. Looks as though it's dying now, but it was entertaining while it lasted and brought up some good points that people from both sites walked away thinking about. Time will tell if its implications have any positive affects.

I'm planning on seeing The Dark Knight this Saturday. From what I can tell it's definitely my kind of movie, and I saw (and loved) Batman Begins, so I know to expect a lot from it. Batman has always been my favorite comic book hero, and The Joker my favorite villain, and putting them both together (along with Two-Face) in a major motion picture is like a dream come true. Now, I would not be nearly as excited about this if I only knew about the pre-2005 live-action Batman movies; those sucked big time in my tastes, and had I not already been a Batman fan prior to watching them, I probably would never have had any subsequent interest in the character. Batman Begins was to me the first time anybody had ever done a live-action Batman film right; I think it and its sequel will set a new standard against which future takes (and superhero movies period) will be judged. So yeah, looking forward to it big time.

Things around my place are pretty quiet with vacation and all. There's always animals to take care of, but it's all part of the routine. Got a new puppy recently (as if we didn't have enough animals), a breed my mom has always wanted, and so far it's been great. As always, it's a female. I wish it were a male, but those of that breed (and most breeds) are more aggressive and eat more and all that jazz. I just hope the thing doesn't get too jumpy like our last dogs did; my little brother practically got dogophobia after being run over by them enough. XD

Aaaaaaaaand that's all from me. Happy anniversary, BZP. Let's hope you don't get overrun by noobs too quickly.

Well well; so it seems I have the one year Vahi now. Oh, the implications of this...

Now I know that many people here will stand and point to their superior year symbols, but regardless, this is still a big thing for me. When I joined one year ago, I was already a member of the BS01 Wiki, and Wikipedia before that, so my only real reason for joining at the start was to be able to PM GregF for information to add to those sites. But before long, I realized that there was so much more BZP had to offer, so I set out to see what the site was all about. In no time at all, I found myself having the time of my life: people to talk to, great topics to share my tastes in, theories (ah yes, the theories... ) to prove and disprove, and most of all the OGD. Granted, I did make my share of spam posts and didn't read policies out of ignorance, but I learned and made sure I set myself straight. I got a one year Premier Membership about a month or so after I came to BZP; it was an enticing idea, what can I say? Loads of fun was to be found in making polls and getting a blog, plus I thought it gave me a sense of dignity I didn't possess as a normal member, knowing that I had contributed in some small way to the upkeep of the forums. It wasn't a prideful dignity, like the feeling you would get after you won a race or something; it was more the type of feeling you got when you did a chore well which made your parents happy. That reminds me, I really must renew my PMship soon...

I must say that the Proto Energy boosts certainly presented an exciting prospect. They gave me something to strive for, and the thought of losing any kept me from doing anything stupid. I would have liked to get at least one boost for good behavior, but hey, I'm happy with getting 'em all from news reports and my Premier Membership. And then of course there came the time when I became a POBZPC; one of the proudest moments of my time here, if I may say so, though in the long run it doesn't mean a whole lot. There are plenty of great members who have never gotten a single PE boost for anything. But it felt (and feels) awesome to be counted among that group just the same.

Ah yes, and then there came my promotion to Fact Team member. The shining moment of my time on BZP; I can't say it sums up who I am on this site, nor can I say it's brought me the most happiness, but it's still what stands out the most and I'm both proud and rather shocked that I'm on the Team. Sadly, I haven't had half as much time to do work associated with it as I would like, since my personal life is pretty busy much of the time, and being a Moderator on BS01 takes a huge chunk out of my time (we simply need more staff). I don't claim to be the best FT member (that'd probably go to Adventurer IMO) or even a good one, but I've made a fair enough mark given my circumstances. I remember the thrill I got when bonesiii sent me the PM asking if I'd like to be on the Team; it was indeed a unique feeling, especially since I didn't know my storyline knowledge was that good. XD

Speaking of bonesiii, this brings me to the subject of role models. I've had a few in my short time here, but the major ones I'll state. First off is bonesiii; I've always admired his dedication and his profoundly good use of logic, and while I do disagree with some of his opinions (yes, opinions, not tastes; I agree with him on tastes XD), he's been the biggest figure in my development on BZP. Next would probably be Screenguy; he is quite possibly the single nicest person I've ever met online: he's quiet, polite, never loses his temper, and knows what his job entails and exactly how to do it right, all of which I greatly admire, and he's been a great friend/role model for me. Then there's Black Six. And no, I don't just look up to him because he's the one who gave me all my Proto boosts; he's really a great guy, and I've always admired him for the leadership he's given the site. There are a multitude of other people that I admire as well, but bonesiii, Screenguy, and B6 are the main three.

I've also managed to acquire quite a few friends in my time here. Some of them I wish I knew better, some of them I wish I knew less (XD), but I'm incredibly grateful for all of them. They helped me get through the difficult times, and they're all just as real to me as any other friends I've ever had, sometimes more so. More than anything, I just feel lucky to have met them all, as I've never had more than one really good friend in my entire life, and he's long gone; so having so many people who actually want to be friends with me is something I still have yet to get used to, and it's a source of great happiness. So here's to all of those whom I call friends. Thanks guys; without you I wouldn't be here.

Now I want everyone to know that BZP is not just another website to me, not just another place for mindless chatting and stupid hobbies. It's a sanctuary; someplace I can go to relax and let my worldly troubles drift away, if even for a little while. It's where I can share my ideas and catch up with people. It's a haven for info about the toy line I've grown so fond of. It's a place where I can get a few laughs and generate a few myself. I'm not obsessed with it; but then again, maybe so. In the end I don't think it matters that much so long as my personal affairs don't go down the drain because of it. But yeah, I love this site, and the memories I've gotten out of it can never be taken away from me; for that I'm grateful.

All in all, it's been quite a ride. I've been honored to be a part of BZPower, and I hope to be on this bandwagon for a great while longer.

    No February entry yet! D8

So yeah, hi folks. Just so everyone (well, the few who care at least XD) knows, I am on an indefinite hiatus from BZP, BS01, and Wikipedia. I'll still do a little on all three sites, and visit maybe once or twice a week, but other than that, you won't see me much. Whether or not the step after this will be retirement for good or a period of more activeness, I know not.

I do know that this pretty much means goodbye to many I called friends, and much less time spent lazily patrolling the BS01 RC, the lack of which I will miss sorely. It brings me great sorrow to have to do this, but it is a necessary step, for reasons which will remain undisclosed.

Thanks to all who have helped and/or befriended me in my relatively brief time among you all, and I very much hope this will not end up being a permanent farewell.

So until I return in full force to commence my antics once again, I bid you all to be of good cheer, enjoy life a little more, and let the good times roll.

Well, I'm back I guess. XD

Yeah, that malicious coding really nailed me for a while there. But I'm back now, which means I have to do FT work as well as BS01 staff work. Oh joy...

Anyway, just telling y'all I'm back. I don't expect to be making a ton of blog entries any time soon, just because I need to recover from my off period and come up with new ideas and such.

Few random things I wanna point out before I end this:

Chriox is by far one of the coolest sets in years. The new web serials are great, especially The Mutran Chronicles. Summer 2008 spoilers are not allowed on BS01, and anyone who uploads leaked images will be severely punished. The OGD has been going waaaaaaaaay too fast for me to ever fully catch up. XD I won't be on for very long periods of time anymore, for personal reasons. And that, as they say, is that.
  5. Gravitan
So yeah, just to keep you guys from going nuts...

The BS01 Wiki Staff is getting an RPG (see here).

This will be my first ever RPG, so I hope everything goes well and I don't humiliate myself. Regardless, this will be very fun. Normal members can show their support for any of the factions in the RPG through several topics we've started in the BS01 Forum.

I am extremely thankful to Black Six for letting us have this. It was truly generous of him.

So yeah, there's your answer. Hope none of you went crazy over trying to figure stuff out.
  6. Gravitan
    Muhahahaha...

Keep your eyes on the BS01 Forum. Something is going to happen, and while I cannot give any details on it, I will tell you that all will be revealed in time...

Note that the recent goings on in the forum have (to my knowledge) nothing to do with BS01's currently being down. I'm just as clueless as everyone else as to why it's not operational.

Though I can't say I'm heartbroken that it's temporarily down; the staff needed a day off.

Team Alpha would also like to note that we have recently lost contact with IAIA Agent Takepic. Fonz, his partner, is looking into it. It is not known for sure at this time, but Agent Notsure might need to be called up from Sicily if things get worse.

ET is a newb now! D8

As per this topic, Electric Turahk is now officially a BS01 Wiki General Manager. Whoot!

This comes as no surprise to me. ET has long been a good friend of mine, and I know that he is fully capable of doing the job as well or better than any of the other mods. This will be interesting, because unlike Darnzerf or Swert, ET is active and editing almost every day, which means that there will be more communication between the mods and the GM, which is most certainly a good thing. Though Darnz is still a GM, mind you. He just has to share the glory now.

I am incredibly happy for him. I know he deserves the position. And I'm not the only one who thinks that.

So anyway, congrats, ET. I know you'll do a great job.

In other news, I'm busy modding on the Wiki every day. '08 spoilers have recently been given the go-ahead, and the Recent Changes are just rocketing along. Too fast to keep up with at times. But it's good experience, and it usually brings out the best in the staff.

Also, with Swert's permission, we recently put up a new policy, known as the Respect Policy. It deals with how members are to treat each other and the staff. And I'll say this right now, we needed this thing. The disrespect issue was getting out of control. So many members were going around with completely the wrong attitudes toward everyone. So we'll see if this works. If not, then we'll have to just ban everyone.

Oh, and Swert whipped up a very nice BS01 holiday banner. I'm using it right now, and if you'd like to use it as well, feel free to PM me or get the code from BS01.

This is a major announcement. You thought the IAIA were the only intelligence team on BZP. You were wrong. After months of long discussion with Adventurer, it was decided that Team Alpha would publish edited profiles of themselves, a decision that was hotly debated among both teams, but was overall accepted as a necessary move. For security reasons, Team Alpha's true name will be kept secret, and the (known) operatives' profiles will be kept small.

And now, without further ado, say hello to Branch Two of the IAIA.

    - Plain, the leader

    - Fonz, the OKer

    - Alien, the unknown

    - Wired, the caffeinated

    - Xmas, the holiday spirit

    - Notsure, the clueless

    - Talk2hand, the ignorant

    - FlagUSA - the patriot

    - Guilty, the decoy

    - Sly, the spy

    - Team Alpha's symbol

    Whereabouts:

Plain - Last seen meeting with Winner in a secret cave in the Andes Mountains. Meeting topics classified. Fonz - Last seen in Rome with Takepic. Operations classified. Alien - Unknown. Suspected to be infiltrating an evil candy-stealing Halloween gang. Wired - Last seen conducting fast food restaurant investigations in New York City's baseball parks. Xmas - Last seen in Florida. Operations classified. Notsure - Last seen in Sicily as backup for Fonz and Takepic. Talk2hand - Last seen taking anger management classes in Paris. True motives for this are classified. FlagUSA - Classified. Guilty - Classified. He thinks... Sly - Hacking training. Further information classified. Well there you have it. Further information will be coming in future blog additions. Before this entry terminates, Team Alpha would like to leave you with the following message:

We were there. We are there. We will always be there. And we will always be watching. Always.
    Thank you.

Well, I'm now on the S&T Fact Team (see here).

I can't wait to get started on that. It's a real honor, and it'll be exciting to see how well I can do. The situation is made even better by the fact that almost all the others who were promoted in that topic are close friends of mine.

Moving on to BS01, I'm having a heck of a time as a WikiMod. It's the most fun I've ever had as a member, but at the same time it's extremely hard work, and something I wouldn't force on the average member. I'm pretty much fully acquainted with my new buttons, so that's cool. Plus I've gotten blocking experience. Gb1 says the vandals seem to "favor me for some reason."

While we're on the subject of BS01, I want to bring to BZP a message that too many people are ignoring: Do not put up '08 spoilers yet. Swert even went so far as to have a countdown clock put up, but even that doesn't seem to be helping much. So just keep the bolded message in mind when you go on BS01. It'll make it easier for everyone.

Something I notice as a Moderator is the appalling disrespect we're shown at times. Certain members have no regard or respect for the staff structure. It's disgusting, and their opinion of us doesn't help with our opinion of them. I've been tempted to block even some members I'm friendly with. We already have rules about respecting staff, but nobody seems to notice them. We even had to create a "Defying Staff" template to help deal with the situation.

Being staff truly is a thankless job. But we're not in it for thanks, so no matter. Doesn't keep me from being surprised at certain behavior though.
  10. Gravitan
That's the main issue here. I might also note that I'm on the Wiki Staff now.

I've been (as I predicted would be the case) extremely busy on the Wiki. Loads of stuff to do, especially since I have to moderate as well as edit now. But the adjustment has been a fairly smooth one so far. Though it'll be a while before I'm fully acquainted with all my new buttons. But I'm cool with that.

I'm trying not to let my new position get to my head. Sometimes it's hard though. It's fairly easy for one to adopt that "I'm better than you now" attitude, the temptation of which often comes with staff appointments. My behavior has been fairly steady though, with the exception of a streak of firmness I had a little while ago.

    Overall, I'm happy beyond description.

In other news, I recently became a POBZPC, which, needless to say, is pretty cool. For some reason, at about the second it happened, I started getting masses of PMs and new comments on my profile. Mostly congrats-type messages, which I am very grateful for.

It feels good so far to be a POBZPC. Though I'm not getting a ton of time to enjoy it due to the things mentioned above.

    But I'm cool with that.

    Last Seen: Private

Another month, another entry. This is the entry.

Now, normally, the topmost text is an extremely annoying sight to behold when viewing another member's profile. The reason for this is because one usually likes to know where another is and what they've done that day, and (most importantly) whether or not they're online at the given moment. This is especially the case for friends, for they, more than any others, like to know what each other is doing. Kinda prying, but hey, there's friends for ya.

I have recently taken up the practice of logging in as anonymous myself, much to the friendly ire of my own BZPals. But does that stop me? Nope. It is known as "pulling a Ut" among those of us who know Utopia from both the Wiki and BZP. (Sorry, Ut, wasn- wait, yeah, it was my idea come to think of it. )

Anyway, I find it quite fun, actually. With school closing in on all sides and threatening to engulf me, I find it a good idea to go into a hibernation of sorts. I'll be sticking mostly to S&T as far as posts go. And I'll be working on the BS01 too, thus cutting down my BZP time even more. As for Wikipedia... Well, I'll have to go into semi-retirement again.

I find that being invisible makes most people avoid PMing me, which is convenient at times. Though I'd rather it not discourage folks, because I enjoy getting PMed, and it's the first thing I look into when I log in. So please, don't let my stealthiness prevent you from PMing me if you have something to bring up.

Now to the fun part of it all. I can honestly say that being invisible is incredibly cool. I can sneak around the forums practically unnoticed, popping up once in a while for a post. And I get to view profiles without being detected, too. It truly makes one feel invisible. It also drives my friends nuts, as stated above, which I find to be quite amusing.

(BTW, sorry for taking so long to post this. I've just been busy.)
  12. Gravitan
Still waiting for the BS01 to come back up. Nothing on Swert, but it's taking forever.

We've got the Encyclopedia and new web serials and comics... And no wiki to add the updates to. But I'm sure things will work out. They had better.

And with BS01 down, I find myself spending more time on Wikipedia. The place is nothing compared to the Wiki which I have grown to love, but I have to admit, it has its own appeal.

The funny thing is that I'm not really editing the BIONICLE pages all that much. Mostly just RC patrolling (which is very hard to do with any effect); though I also feel myself getting drawn to the "politics" of Wikipedia. I'm pretty well-learned on the policies and guidelines, and have even voiced my opinion in admin nominations. I've been flamed and insulted, too. Though that doesn't really affect me much. I find it rather funny, actually.

I have actually laughed out loud from some of the vandalism that I come across. One example is when I saw an article on the bottom of which a user had added the statement "bob's ur uncle". It is cases like these that make me think, "Man, I really don't want to know what goes on in this guy's head."

In other news, school is taking up a fair bit of my time (as it should), so my time online is somewhat limited. But hey, it's all in the name of learning, right?
  13. Gravitan
Yes folks, that's right, something exciting is going to happen soon in regards to the BS01 Wiki.

The Wiki will be getting a new Moderator!

The Moderator has yet to be informed of his proposed promotion, and nobody but Swert and perhaps one or two others knows who the Moderator will be. The official word on the matter, including the revealing of whom he is, will come in a week or later.

The most likely candidates (in the opinions of a number of people) are as follows:
Shine GB1 (known as Great Being #1 on BZP) Electric Turahk I might add that some would consider me to be up there too, but the above are the most likely.
The suspense is killing me already, and yet at least a week will pass before we'll know for sure. I do consider myself to be fairly patient, but I tell ya, it's going to be hard not to go around bugging people about it. But I think I can pull it off.

This will be the first appointment like it since April, when Kopaka's Apprentice jumped on board. What a thrill it will be when we find out. It will be quite hard to avoid being overly jealous of the guy who gets the position. But I think happiness for him will prevail over that particular emotion.

But the Wiki is down for an unknown amount of time, so whomever the new Moderator is, he won't be able to make his first sysop action until he actually has a wiki to do it on.

Alas, if only bandwidth came in smaller quantities than "too much"...
  14. Gravitan
On this day, six years ago, events occurred which will live forever in the hearts of all Americans.

    Events that cost lives.

Events that changed us in many ways, including how a lot of people view the world.

These events are known collectively as 9/11.

BZP policy prevents me from discussing these events as much as I would like, so I ask that all who view this entry take a moment to think about the people who were most directly effected by the events of six years ago.

  15. Gravitan
Well, as per this topic, BS01 Wiki Staff Member Bionicleman has retired.

His loss will always be felt by those who knew him.

In his time, he was a great member; many might say one of the greatest.

He was a brilliant coder, a fair and effective Moderator, and a talented writer. It may also be noted that he was one of BS01's first members.

But above all these things, he was a good friend. He understood the value of friendship, why it was essential for any good wiki, and sought to spread it wherever possible. For what are we, as people, without friendship? Not much. Could we have made the BS01 as good a place as it is without friendship? Not likely. And he knew this full well. It was through his kind and thoughtful consideration of all the Wiki's needs and members that he was able to improve the site so much.

But (sadly, sometimes) life moves on. He has had to leave his post for personal reasons, which he will most likely never elaborate upon. Let us all hope that wherever he goes in life, he will be happy; and that he will always have a place in his heart for the wiki which he so helped. We'll never forget you, B-Man; and we hope you will not forget us.

    Cheers, my friend.

  16. Gravitan
Well, I recently found out that my BS01 NewsTablet application has been approved. I am now officially on the NT Staff.
I signed up as a columnist, though I don't yet know for sure if that's actually what I'll be doing. But I'm known in real life as a fairly good writer, so I don't think I'll have a great deal of trouble if that's where they put me.

Now if only the Wiki would come back up.
I've been told that it'll be about a week at the least, but that's better than a month I suppose. Once it is back up, I imagine I'll be pretty busy now that I've got something more to do. I'm looking forward to it.

In other news, my poll, Do You Think You Are Well-Known On Bzp?, is now Hot Topic no. 3.

That's like the first time I've ever struck a Hot Topic. Pretty exciting.

Had a pretty lively chat with Kopaka's Apprentice and Electric Turahk today. Very interesting trio we make.

So, all in all, things are going pretty darn well for me. At least for now.

    Cheers,
    Gravitan
  17. Gravitan
Yes, folks, that's right, the BS01 Wiki is back up.

But the current set-up is only a temporary solution to the apparent bad luck that seems to trail the Wiki at all times.
But at least it's up. And that's something to be thankful for.

My NewsTablet activities have yet to commence. We're still forming up. But I imagine it won't be very long.

Now I said I'd go over something I got myself into on the Wiki in a previous entry. Might as well tell the tale now.

It all started with my removing of speculation-type stuff from various articles. One or two members didn't approve of this at the time. So Kopaka's Apprentice decided that myself and another member should talk to BS01's owner about it. KA stated that we should use MSN, which I didn't have. So the next half hour or so was spent explaining to me how this could be set up. I, not being one to give away certain types of information, nor being an expert on things like that, was quite confused by the word-like things being directed at me by the other members. It was like they were trying to speak to me, I knew it. But the words were like those of a language I had never spoken. They marveled at my confusion. I imagine they felt like they were talking to a five-year-old. The discussion finally ended when I was too tired to go on. Solution: I blanked the discussion and went to bed.
A few days later, I got a Gtalk account, rendering the MSN discussion pointless.

And the speculation problem has since been fixed (through Gtalk ).

    All is well.
  18. Gravitan
Lol, it didn't take me long to get my rank from "Submerged" to "Emerging Fluidic Master". I go fast.

It was a cool rank, but I think I like this one better. The moving Proto was starting to make me dizzy.

Recently saw the BIONICLEstory.com updates. This year just keeps getting better and better. Into the Darkness is what really got me. I knew Tuyet would play a role, but not that much of a role. 'Twas very entertaining. I didn't even have to read it!

Though I do find it a little funny to hear GregF's voice.
    No offense meant, of course.

Been makin' polls like crazy. Partly 'cause I want to help, and partly 'cause I've got nothing better to do.

I'll let you figure out which is the more dominant reason.

Well, don't really know what to blog about, so I'll just start typing.

Been working a lot on the Wiki lately. I've been caught up in some pretty wacky stuff on there recently, which I might get into later. But there's still a whole lot that needs to be done, and not enough editors to do it. So please, come on over and help out.

I've pretty much retired from Wikipedia at this point. I belong here and on the BS01, and that place never really suited my tastes anyway. I would rant on about it, but I haven't the time right now.

    Now to real life.

The weather around here has been incredible lately. Lots of sun, yet not burning hot. And the nights, yes, the nights. I was out last night tending to the many chickens that roam my property, with nothing to guide me except a dim barn light off in the distance. And no noise except the distant rumble of a few cars on a far-off highway and the continuous chirping of numerous unseen insects.

Then, time stopped. I was alone outside, with seemingly nothing to disturb my thoughts as I was filling up a watering container. It was perfect. Night truly is the most wonderful part of those 24 hour time periods which we humans tend to rush so quickly through, without giving ourselves time to relax and enjoy them.

Well, at least on that night, I was in no rush at all.

The BS01's been down for a while, as some of you might know. A friend told me that it was taking up too much bandwidth on Swert's friend's server, and there's no telling when it'll be back up (though Swert is welcome to comment on this ).

So here I am, with nothing to do except cruise around BZP, looking for nice topics and going through PMs. Not that this is a bad thing. I'm just used to having a wiki to patrol. I'd be on Wikipedia, it's just that the place as a whole is rather sickening.

The weather around here has been simply dreary. Rainy, cloudy, dark, cold; in short, my favorite kind of weather.
But alas, it is not to last. The cold front will be moving out later this week. Then it'll be back to hot and dry.

But ya just have to take the weather as it comes, no matter if it be good or bad. A lot like life. Only in life, I prefer the sunny days.

Well, as the title says, the best is yet to come.

    Anyway, welcome to my blog.

I'd like to start by asking people to come and help out at the BS01 Wiki. We could really use the assistance over there right now. Provided you don't annoy the heck out of Electric Turahk and I by copying and pasting something from Wikipedia.
Seriously though, don't do it. We're an original content sight, and we can spot a copy-and-paste from a WikiMile away.

Also, if you'd like to help, proper grammar is a huge plus. I've had to blank entire pages just because of the poor grammar used in them.

But as I said, some help would be great, and all non-vandalism contributions are appreciated (if not occasionally reverted ).

Anyway, I've spent most of my Internet time on BS01 these past few days. It gets tiring, but it's for a good cause. Though I sure am glad BZP's back up. I was beginning to think it'd take the admins months to get everything taken care of. The staff never fails to amaze me.
