The Metroid series is a mess. Team Ninja's phalure and then the whole Prime series canon/non canon debacle...sheesh.

If you don't know what I'm talking about, some stupid people on some gaming website took Sakamoto's words out of context and now there's a huge debate over whether or not the Prime series is canon.

It had better be canon, seeing as 3 of the 5 best Metroid games are Primes.

Are you implying that's problematic for some reason?

Though I suppose that has more to do with Team Ninja's stupid Samus personality than anything else. The old Samus was the ossimsauce.

I have no idea if it's a game or not, really. I believe it is(or will be, probably around the same time that Dread comes out) because it was on the official Prime website(the Japanese one, of course). I have trouble seeing a book/movie on a game site, but hey, maybe.

The thing is, I techinically could get live if I wanted. However, my internet's so slow, that whenever I try to make an internet game, it lags so badly that it's not worth playing(sometimes I have like 1000 Ping on Halo CE). So there's no way in heck that I'd be willing to pay the $30 a year just to die horribly every time I get on.

Probably didn't phrase that right. What I was talking about was the linear-ness of Halo, which to me, is a big detractor of fun if you don't get to say where you go and when. But, as Burnmad said, that's IMO.

I've never played a Metroid game before, let alone Other M, so I can't say much there, but, I have played Halo, and I don't see any simple third-person game beating it's gameplay, sorry, but that's the truth.

Well, yu see, that's where your problem is. Metroid isn't a "simple 3D game." It's been around since 1987, and the 2D games are where it began. The reason I like it's gameplay so much more is because it's not "shoot shoot shoot" every second. There's exploration, there's item augmentation, there's puzzle solving, and of course fighting. It's a bit slower paced than most games, but it makes up for that with so many different ways to play.

Also Team Ninja only developed Other M. Retro Studios developed the Prime series, and Nintendo itself made the 2D games.

Some of the ODST ST's are a little scary, I guess. Last time I remember being scared by a video game was when I first went through Metroid Prime and they had this scary music playing and Chozo ghosts were popping out every 5 seconds and sauce.

Anyways I love ATC as well(though all of Skyline is ossim), but Traffic Jam is my fav from ODST. That and Deference for Darkness(mainly Rain).

I agree. Nothing in Halo will ever top the epicness that was Reclaimer/Unyielding, but hey, can't complain.

Of course, nothing ever tops Rising Sun. Greatest video game music ever.
