  1. uh, what? isn't that because amiibos are based off of characters already in the game? You can't play as your customized amiibo characters is what I meant. Amiibo characters can get much more powerful than standard custom characters, so being able to play as them could have been fun.
  2. Guilty Gear Xrd -Sign- (PS4 Demo) Definitely good, and I'm really impressed by the 3D models. They mostly look like 2D sprites in battles, but camera shifts in battle remind you that yes, these are 3D models. Glad I've had my copy preordered for a while now.
  3. I'm hoping that they release the Index LNs a little faster, because at 4 volumes a year, It'd be about 9 years before we're caught up to the point Index is now. I know there are a lot more words than Manga in LNs, so it takes longer to translate, but the release schedule is far to slow for any hopes of ever getting near to catching up until long after the series ends. Anyways, the first Index was definitely a good read, continuing the trend of LNs being a good deal better than the anime from what I've read. Pretty glad that Yen On seems to be doing well and more and more LNs are getting licensed now. Also, I got my Mystery Box DVDs today from Crunchyroll that I ordered about a month ago for about $30, and, as I was expecting, the contents were generally meh. I got a few repeats from my last mystery box (I recieved two copies of Armitage: Dual Matrix this time around), and only about 1/6 of the DVDs actually interested me (it's mostly random old singles and movies in these boxes), but I'd say it was a pretty good deal for a few anime DVDs to watch and a whole bunch more to trade in at my local FYE for at least $30, probably more by guessing from my last box (I think I got around $70 or so for all the stuff I didn't want).
  4. I'm wondering when they'll realize just because it works in Japan, doesn't mean it'll work in Euro/US and Canada. Japan's tiny and incredibly compact- the netcode works fine there, but internationally? Yeesh.I'm inclined to believe that there's more to it than just Japan making NA/EU high-speed Internet look like dial-up, as Smash 3DS's local wireless multiplayer was pretty lagtastic as well. It's like Nintendo only wants you to play Smash with four controllers connected to one console. Anyways, I finally got around to testing out Amiibo functionality today, essentially it's like creating a really beefed-up AI opponent. You can't play as Amiibo characters (which kinda sucks), but you can create opponents with ridiculously high stats. The most disappointing thing about them, IMO, is that they gain levels from 1-50, and they do it at a really fast rate. I got my two Amiibos up past level 30 in under an hour.
  5. I'd say that's less Crystal's fault and more of an overall problem with Sailor Moon in general. I mean, legitimately every single evil thing in the entire series is "Dark (Insert Word Here)", and nobody ever freaking notices. And that's just the beginning of the really obvious stuff. Anyways, I finally got around to watching my Sailor Moon Blu-Rays. Four episodes in, and my childhood disdain for the show is pretty much gone, and it really does do pretty much everything better than Crystal, even though it's over 20 years older. Also, the fact that the evil hideouts in the filler episodes don't start with dark is a huge improvement over the original.
  6. Smash Wii U Is out! And online is still laggy... When is Nintendo going to get their act together on their netcode? Anyways, I'm liking the new stage editor- much better than Brawl's- and 8-player Smash is a blast.
  7. If I were the type of person to drop shows, I'd probably have dropped the bottom third of what I'm watching by now, and I'm actually pretty close to dropping World Trigger (congrats on doing a Jump adaptation I dislike more than Rosario Vampire, Toei!). Anyways, here's how I'd rate this season's stuff: 1. Fate/stay night: Unlimited Blade Works 2. Parasyte 3. Amagi Brilliant Park 4. Shirobako 5. Your lie in April 6. Denki-gai 7. Cross Ange 8. When Supernatural Battles Became Commonplace 9. I Can't Understand What My Husband is Saying 10. Chaika The Coffin Princess: Avenging Battle 11. The Fruit of Grisaia 12. Sword Art Online II 13. Sailor Moon Crystal 14. Psycho-Pass 2 15. Daitoshokan no Hitsujikai 16. Trinity Seven 17. World Trigger The top 7 are my favorites this season, and Sailor Moon is where the stuff I'm not really enjoying starts.
  8. Considering Nintendo's track record with bringing JRPGs west, they would never do such a thing. In all honesty, though, I'd bet Xenoblade Chronicles X will be available everywhere, because it's probably the biggest upcoming game for the Wii U that isn't far-off in the distant future. I'd also assume Xenoblade 3DS won't be a GS exclusive, since I'm pretty sure it's the only N3DS exclusive announced ATM. I'd check to see if there are more, but Google doesn't understand the difference between new 3DS games and games for the New 3DS...
  9. Yep, Amiibos are $13 or so. Of course, I've still seen higher-quality figures for less, but I'm gonna just assume that $10 of that is for the NFC tech. Even though I'm sure it isn't. And I'll be one of those people getting Shulk, sadly I don't think there's gonna be another chance to get him in plastic. Anyways, got surprised by some awful lag in Advanced Warfare, ended up getting a surprise round ending kill while completely missing the target. I've been screwed by lag so many times in that game. So glad it finally worked in my favor.
  10. I don't really care about their features, and as figures, well, for a bit more, I can get something much better (really need to get myself that Samus figma sometime). But, there are a few characters who I'd doubt would get physical merch otherwise, so they do kinda appeal to me as a collector. Getting a couple in the first wave to try them out, but the third wave in February is when the ones I really would want start coming.
  11. ... PS4's share button has really spoiled me. I've saved a bunch of videos to my hard drive, uploaded a few to YouTube and taken tons of screencaps, not having those features be standard (screencaps, at least, usually take 20+ a day on my Vita) sometimes feels a bit weird. I hope that Smash WiiU at least has a YouTube upload function like Mario Kart.
  12. I was surprised that SAO had a decent character-focused episode, then I remembered we aren't still in the unbalanced GGO episodes and this isn't a side story jammed into the middle of an arc. Still needs more Klein though. Klein best girl random member of Kirito's harem. Anyways, just read the final chapters of Naruto in Jump. 699 would have been a good end, IMO, but 700 was necessary because All in all, a pretty good ending for Naruto.
  13. wut Naruto is STILL doing filler? Well, if they're planning on adapting next year's sequel without stopping for a season, I guess it makes sense. This is why manga adaptations should only be done by the season or when a series is done or almost done.
  14. Biggest thing for me out of the announcements was the new Xenoblade info. The game looks great, plus I love it when JRPGs have American protags (which I assume will be the case, since New Los Angeles is an American colony.)
  15. My problems with the game were pretty much just with the game itself/how it worked, nothing involving any similarities with OoT (absolutely love that game on N64). Also, I find that it's just easier for me to get through games on handhelds, due to being able to play while not tethered to my TV, so I'm more likely to finish a game I don't like as much on my 3DS than a console.
  16. May give MM a try, didn't really like the original at all, but I'll still give the remake a shot.
  17. I completely forgot that Smash saves screens as .jpg files. Still getting used to the fact that most 3DS games save screenshots as .jpgs, rather than arbitrary random little unusable files. Might share some sometime. Anyways, after playing Advanced Warfare for a few hours, I can say that I'm enjoying it. Really loving the Combat Readiness Program, perfect for folks like me because you get booted if you don't suck, glad there's finally a mode where I can play with people of my skill level.
  18. Chaika manages to do generic shonen rather well, I'd say it's worth checking out. I may check out Rage of Bahamut, I was incredibly skeptical of earlier it due to being based off a smartphone card game, but I've heard pretty much nothing but good things about it. One of Crystal's biggest draws is probably the fact that there's zero filler (after 9 episodes, Crystal is at the original's episode 35), and as far as the story itself goes, it's pretty faithful to the manga (as far as I can remember). The awful animation has even gotten ever so slightly better (although I'm almost positive it's only the fact that there weren't any CG transformation sequences in the newest episode), although that may just be that Toei decided to shift the entirety of World Trigger's budget over to Crystal. And another episode of Jinsei came out today. Glad we didn't have to wait another month, now only the last episode is left...
  19. So, uh... I was my Mii for Halloween. (Excuse to walk around the Halloween Party at my college and gather up all the free food with out actually putting any effort into any sort of costume). Anyways, if I were to actually dress up as a video game character, I'd probably choose someone with a simple-ish outfit, my top two choices would probably be Delsin Rowe from inFamous or Nathan Drake from Uncharted. Or, if I could get my hands on some overalls, I'd definitely do Mario. I got the Mario hat from Club Nintendo a few years back, and have yet to really use it as anything else than a decoration on top of my bookshelf. Also, I somehow ended up preordering Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, which is pretty strange for me, especially since FPSes are pretty much the exact opposite of my thing. I'm assuming the slightly futuristic setting and knowledge that multiplayer will be pretty solid suckered me in, plus I kinda want to boost up my game so I don't get absolutely destroyed when hanging out with all my friends.
  20. I nearly jumped out of my chair when I found out another episode of Jinsei finally got fansubbed. Another pretty good episode, and the year month-long wait was definitely worth it. Anyways, my top 5 this season as of this week: are Fate/stay night: Unlimited Blade Works, Parasyte -the maxim-, Amagi Brilliant Park, Shirobako, and Your lie in April. Fate and Parasyte have just been steadily been doing pretty well, AmaBuri is easily my favorite comedy this season, Shirobako has been pretty enjoyable and a good look into the anime industry (and after watching the Making Of DVD bundled with the second Kill la Kill LE, it doesn't seem too far off from reality), and Your lie in April has been a really enjoyable drama. Also, my Sailor Moon S1 Blu-Rays are arriving next week! Pretty excited, since I liked what I saw of the new dub, plus it's less painful on the eyes than Crystal.
  21. Since the Naruto anime is less than 50 chapters behind the manga, I'd bet it'll end in the winter season. I might start it then, with a guide for skipping filler. Psycho-Pass this week just cemented Shimotsuki as one of my least favorite characters ever, the fact that I hate her a good deal more than even most villains really isn't a good sign for this season, especially since I felt season 1 had a generally good cast. She does do a good job of showing how far gone the system is, but I don't really think that makes up for being a generally unlikeable character.
  22. Which will probably be sooner than you expecting. As in Saturday-next-week soon. Now I'm kinda wishing I didn't start watching Psycho-Pass 2 subbed, simply because it feels weird to me when I watch the first season of something dubbed, then the second season starts subbed. Anyways, anyone here have any thoughts on Naruto ending? I'm pretty happy because it's about freaking time and it's been dragging on for ages, but at the same time I'm a little sad to see it go because it's been in Jump since before I started reading and was one of my favorites along with Bleach (which also really needs to end) when I first got into anime and manga, and it also means one less series I'll be following in Jump (even though there are two new series that I'll be following).
  23. I'd feel slightly better about Clones in Smash if their default specials weren't (essentially) the exact same as their counterparts, I can't imagine that taking that long at all, especially since customization is now a thing and there would have already been extra moves from the originals. The way I see it, customization + alt characters pretty much defeat the purpose of clones, and I'd have liked it a bit better if they worked more on both those things instead of clones. Anyways, been playing a of Bayonetta 2, it's a good deal easier than the first, but otherwise it's a fantastic game. Haven't gotten to the port of the first one yet, planning on doing that once I finish two.
  24. DLC confirmed for Smash 4, first up is All the other announcements today were pretty cool. Glad to see the return of stamina battles, and 8-player Smash sounds pretty insane, really interested to see how that turns out. Also, Bayonetta 2 is coming out tomorrow, finally getting the game I bought my Wii U for! Really liked the demo on the eShop, and pretty interested in seeing how the port of the original compares to the last-gen versions.
  25. If I remember correctly, in one of the trailers/announcements/whatever a while back, it was stated that the new F/SN is going to be structured as a sequel to Zero, so I'd definitely recommend Zero, and the other series could be ignored (ESPECIALLY the UBW movie. Just... stay away from that.). Anyways, I'm hoping that once they get UBW and Heaven's Feel out of the way, they'll go ahead and do a Hollow Ataraxia adaptation. Because I don't see myself playing the VN unless the Vita port gets localized.
