  1. High school. After my freshman year is when one of the really big downtimes hit, and then while the forum was up I was just too swamped with work and sports and new hobbies. I had a few brief surges of activity over the years, but the last long bout ended when around Spring of last year. I was most active 2007-2010, I think, so I'd guess that my bouts of serious inactivity were in the realm of 2011-2014, with one or two minor ones before that. Sometimes it was just being way too swamped with other stuff that I had no free time, and the rest of the time was probably just kinda not feeling the Bionicle groove. I always came back for little bits at a time because of nostalgia.

  2. Unlimited entires? No "original" characters (not that those are bad, I just think everyone gets excited when they recognize who a character is 'supposed to be')? This is really cool :D

Now these trays and bags that I sorted all my technicle/CCBS parts into for BFTGM and never touched can be put to use! :P If only I'd bought a single CCBS set before Bionicle came out... this is gonna be tricky!

    3) Painted parts are NOT ALLOWED. No non-LEGO parts. All other LEGO parts are fair game; however, for the most part, they should be Bionicle pieces and Technic pieces. Let's say, at least 75% of the MOC Bionicle/Technic parts. Pictures in which the appearance of the MOC has been edited in Photoshop or other editing software are also prohibited. If either method is used, the MOC will be disqualified. The background may be edited, as long as it does not alter the appearance of the MOC.

I'm assuming CCBS is "Bionicle/Technic", right? Maybe that rule should be updated for clarity?

And does "style of 2015" include the look of the animated characters, or specifically the sets?

    Thanks in advance ^^

  3. It seemed fine, nothing particularly out of the ordinary for Bionicle, it was just a more evil setting and things escalated much quicker than usual. The only thing exceptionally dark was the portal cutting Tuyet in half (I'm not misremembering that, am I? :P), the rest was pretty run of the mill. Children aren't as naive and pure as you might think, I'm sure it's nothing they haven't seen before. I know Star Wars, specifically the prequels, are very much beloved by young children, and I watched Qui-Gon Jinn get murdered and his assailant proceed to fall down a hole in two flailing halves before I even got into Bionicle, and I'm pretty sure by the time Dark Mirror was published we had the final film come out, featuring a slaughter of schoolchildren and an emotional death in childbirth, amongst so many other things that are way, way worse than magic robots having a civil war in a very rushed story Greg probably wrote after marathoning all of Star Trek's Terran Empire Mirror-verse episodes :P

And an alternate universe isn't really that hard to grasp. It's just another make believe story, and Takanuva jumped into a different one.

  4. Not going to lie, that was actually really exciting. I got really pumped up by that. I feel like this episode is gonna be one of those things we look at three years down the road and go, "wow, that's where it all really began" and get all nostalgic about it. Music was great, storyboarded nicely, really cool powering up and showing off sequences. They really held nothing back with the whole "unlocking their powers" thing, they look powerful. Can't wait to see what happens next. They've like, really made their proper transition into real Toa.

  5. Might not have bonded with my best friend, might not have expanded my artistic boundaries, might not be that deep in the Bionicle fandom, might not be a personified fruit. I suppose I'd have just taken my Bionicle discussion to a different forum or just enjoyed it by myself. I know I wouldn't be as excited about April Fools Day as I am :P

  6. You really shouldn't care what anyone else thinks about your tastes. 'SJW's aren't the only ones who aren't fans of Moffat's lackluster writing and practices. You don't have to know arbitrary episode titles to be a 'true fan' or whatever. You should really pay it no mind and just enjoy the show however you can :)

So am I the only one who's extremely disappointed with the Summer sets? They look like an absolute mess. They're gappy and hobbled together with just hideous colors and looks so weird and underdeveloped. I feel like everyone is so distracted by the gorgeous new gold/trans masks and the admittedly impressive Ekimu/Grinder set that they don't realize everything else just looks... really bad ._. I would be embarrassed to buy those or display them on my shelf.

I really don't think you meant it that way (because you're cool) but it's generally pretty disrespectful to say people are too blinded by x to form y (correct) opinion. Different people have different tastes, and different reasons to like or not like things. Opinions and whatnot.

Oh no, I wasn't trying to belittle anyone who likes them, I was just wondering if the masks got everyone so excited that it swayed their perspective, 'cause redeeming qualities counteract not so redeeming qualities, and all that.

Y'all have a good point about the posing and possible misleading builds, that could be it. I really hope they grow on me, 'cause right now I'm just really underwhelmed by 'em compared to the very coordinated and filled out Toa. Maybe the new bone pieces bring out a K'nex vibe that's throwing me off.

  9. They could be powered up, or they could be drained. Those are the two options I'm sitting on. It kinda looks like they're glowing with energy, the trans areas. On the other hand the Protector masks are semi-trans, so it could mean they're becoming powerless like those too. Could even just be new masks entirely? Whatever is going on, they're really pretty.

I think that the Toa don't really have like, total "control" over their elements yet, just have some snazzy elemental moves? In which case the new masks could grant them total G1-type elemental powers, maybe.

  10.

Y'all don't know how excited I am :D My immediate reaction would not have passed the filter :P

Those masks look great, and the Skull Gang doesn't look totally atrocious. I'm excited about the Mask of Creation right there, definitely getting that! I wonder if there are small sets or something just out of frame? That's my only reasoning for the apparent lack of semi-trans Hau and Kaukau. I really hope we get those.

You can see the ending of the table.

    Oh, drat. More promotions, maybe?

I wonder if that screen was playing some unseen promotional stuff for the Summer sets?

  11. Mask of Light really is a classic, it's just so lovely and paced so well, stunning visuals for what it was. Legends of Metru Nui really was an improvement, though. The atmosphere was definitely legendary and familiar and wondrous, and the story felt a little more coherent and taking its time to develop. I have really strong nostalgia for both, but I think being a tiny bit older and watching LoMN the night I got it on my new tiny personal TV being completely glued to it after indulging in all the hype media for 2004 wins over, since I just remember it better and it was a bit more special. Also, nothing in MoL can beat the "Time" track. That piece of music haunts me to this day, I felt a chill thinking about it just now.

  13. I don't mind that it's a bit rushed, because they're just off to the races, starting with a bang. They can take it slow in the future, but this is basically the grand opening, the big release. They're getting as much publicity and content as they can out there to make Bionicle known and show off what it has to offer. You have to remember that not everyone is a longtime fan who knows what to expect and is familiar with what LEGO is capable of doing with this line. They've gotta establish their characters and themes as a priority. Unfortunately, the episodes did come out way too quickly and the books are coming out way too late in the year. Hopefully, they've got something else up their sleeves to carry us over 'till Summer.

  14. I haven't played in a looong time.. only money I ever spent was for the Excelsior-class ships. I can't remember if I get a Level-50 version of the ship when I reach that or something; I hope I do, 'cause I love that ship a lot. I think I was experimenting with a Defiant sort of ship last time I played? And I think I was around level 40. It's such a great game, I just didn't have the time for it is all. Modeling my crew after my friends really made it a memorable experience, and much more entertaining when they inevitably die a hundred times on away missions (the most frustrating part of the game, I really should've just switched to easy mode for those and gotten it over with every time. I guess I'm a sucker for better loot opportunities) :P

  15. Oh my gosh, that is so cool :D Finally the trans-orange Hau makes its way to the general public. I've been dying to see what it looks like in person, but more importantly, look at all those other goodies!! I love posters and stuff, I can't wait to get my hands on 'em. The skull spider isn't anything particularly special, right?

I'm marking my calendar for showing up at the LEGO Store (maybe more than one :P I've got a sibling after all) as soon as we find out when the U.S. promotion is.

  16. I feel like there should be some kind of spoiler warning on there, but I'm really not that familiar with how accurate Lego Marvel sets are to the films they're based on. Some parts of those set descriptions and a few particular sets seem to show things that weren't made explicit in the trailers for the film and I'd hate anyone to accidentally spoil the reveals or twists or whatever for themselves.

That being said, those are some gorgeous sets :D
