Holy cow, almost a month without an update? That can't be right.

It is right. What the heck were we even doing??

Well, sadly there was some unfortunate occurrences (and some fortunate ones. I scored an internship with a local design firm!) that involved the sort of sad things that happen to friends sometimes. As a general reminder, always remember that you are loved. Yes, you. Everyone has friends and family, someone who cares about them and it may not even be the ones you suspect - sometimes we are bad about letting others know about what is in our hearts, but that means your life may be even more precious than it already is. If you're even considering self harm, please remember that you are not alone, not in any way, and help is out there.

With that out of the way, we are pushing forward and making great strides. If you haven't seen it already, you can check out our newest update in GD. Really you can't miss it I had the thing pinned for goodness sakes. What good is bending the rules if you people still don't see it?? But I digress, go check it out for some wild looks at a band most of our member base probably isn't familiar with but should be! Also there's a good bit with some steamy contraband you might like.

The next update will be a flash, and unless disaster strikes you can expect to see that sometime Tuesday. I still haven't mastered the mighty speed that Hussie has with the program, but I'm getting better. Then after that we'll finally see the introduction of a promised new character that I was talking about a month (!) ago.

I know this hiatus has probably hurt our fanbase, but I hope to regain your love soon. Yes, soon you will all be my fawning fans, my adoring public, sitting pretty inside my fist as I string you along in my insane quest of writing a silly comic on the internet. Will the madness never end?

    No. No it will not.

Just as an FYI to all my loyal and loving fans, who I'm sure number in the hundreds if not thousands, the slow down you are seeing right now on BZPStuck is absolutely temporary; you see, this last two weeks has been a period where I'm completely focused on finishing the final senior show for my college. It's the culmination of four years of work, and as you can imagine, it ain't easy. Smeag has likewise been pretty busy, but he has also had to deal with some pretty nasty sickness which only compounds the problem. My show is thursday, and come next week we should be on a MUCH more regular pace.

Sorry guys, lemme know how I can make it up to you.
  3. InnerRayg
Whew, just under the wire on that update! Still, despite preperation for graduation, work overtime, and sleepless nights on both Smeag and I's part, we're keeping to a somewhat regular schedule and for that I'm glad. Here in the upcoming week and a half we're going to be debuting yet another flash, and then soon after that, our third (and maybe fourth?) character! I know you're excited, because this means we'll have hit the halfway mark and it's where stuff really starts to get out of hand. So stay tuned folks, and be sure to keep those commands coming. They really do inspire a lot of what happens, and some plot twists that are now crucial to the story wouldn't have even occurred without them.
  4. InnerRayg
Wow, Smeag sure has made a splash on the scene with his entry into BZPStuck! As the first of many characters to come let's welcome him and secretly hope he stops making so many jokes about musicians I don't know so I don't feel so left out!

Just kidding, the more obscure the better. He wouldn't have it any other way. We'll probably be seeing one or two more new characters before we get back to Ray in any serious fashion, but once we do you better believe stuff is going to be kicked into high gear. So stay tuned!

Also, can I say that I am utterly devastated at the total lack of speculation so far about which staff members each of those screen names you saw earlier in the comic will be. Come on you nerds, I want to see how many pieces you can put together.
  5. InnerRayg
Holy cow, it's finally done. That definitely went like three days over what I planned for it, but man it feels good to be able to see the finished product. If you guys haven't seen it, please go check out the comic thread to see the capstone for my beginning arc. Now we get to the fun part, where our next character makes an appearance and we start really exploring the dynamics between characters. Stay tuned folks - we're just getting started.

Seriously I did NOT think people would care this much about it!

Sorry about the black pixel! I'd fix it but bossman six is the only one with the ability to reupload the forum skin images.

So there we go, our first week was a rousing success I would like to think. Either the critics are being silent or everyone is enjoying it, which is a good thing. Hopefully as this continues more of BZP will be getting involved and we can bring some life back to GD and the forums in general.

Anyway, although it's not the most technically impressive thing our first real flash also got posted, with some major props to Ryan Bratton, a non-BZP friend of a friend who provided the customized sweet tunes you hear. And if you think that's good, wait till you hear some of the beautiful serenades Andrew aka Smeagol4 has cooked up for the future. We've got big plans guys, big plans

As for the story content, I leave you with a big "question mark?" for now, but suffice to say this is the first big hint at what's different in our little story. You've seen what's familiar. From here on we start changing things.

So Questions? Concerns? Input? Lemme know!

Alright folks, Week Two of BZPSTUCK is off and running after a brief respite. From here on out you should probably expect that Sunday/Monday is a no-update-zone, and probably Wednesdays. That still leaves Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday for us to play though, not to mention the fact that once we get the other staff members more involved we should see a large influx in update content. I'm lifting some heavy weight here at the beginning but once I get the thing up the others can come in and help give me a hand moving it to our end goal of creating the most convoluted metaphors possible.

I lost the handle on that sentence. I'm sorry.

Anyway, should be lots more fun, especially if you guys make some of the choices I'm hoping you do. There's an awesome flash in it for you if you do. Choose wisely!

Now that we've started up BZPStuck, I'm working pretty excitedly on making some cool content for you guys, but I wonder, what do you guys really think so far? Like, what do you want or hope will happen with this and what do you want to see? Also, what is it you would really hate seeing? Let me know.
  10. InnerRayg
Man, apparantly people despise/hate the staff but I don't think I ever even get an honorable mention when it comes to enforcing my will without any regard for the rules, obtusely breaking them even as I enforce them upon others.

Maybe I can fix this soon. Would you guys promise to be afraid then?

So I'm supposed to be designing a t-shirt right now but you better believe I'm chatting it up with some girl who gave me her number today instead.

Rayg be pimpin all around this here blog yo!

Hey, this is just a quick shout out to one of the coolest people at Brickfair. He's not really a member here, but people who went know who he is. He's the guy who originally got me to come to Brickfair back in 2006 and for that I owe him a million thanks because it has since turned out to be a defining point in my life, really he is one of my best friends and the things he's done for me and our group are too innumerable to count. It's true, not everyone gets along with him and he can come off as a little crass to some people, but that's just him being who he is and not making any excuses for any reason. So here's to a great year, and to next year when we will surely be sharing a room once again!

  13. InnerRayg
Alright, so I'll just give this a good old ramble:

Brickfair started with Pat coming over to my house, because we had elected to take the bus together this year. Pat, for those not in the know, is our own Darth Vader, and is incredibly awesome in real life. I know you guys like hating on him for his reviews, but hey, somebody has to tell the truth. So anyway we hung out and went to see Inception because he had not yet seen it.

Okay quick Inception break: This movie is just one great film. Don't believe the haters, because I know they are out there. Just go in and see it as soon as you can. Maybe, and I mean maybe, it'll go over your head, but for god's sake nothing cinematic has moved me quite as much as the train scene in a very long time.

So anyway we went to see that. Everybody loved it. Then we got on a bus.

    oh. man.

Okay, so when I say we got on a bus, I mean we waited an hour for our bus to even show up. Eventually it arrived, very late, but of course we had to wait a long time to even get on the thing. Then we got to meet our bus driver, the always incorrigible Mr. Terry Shaw. Mr. Terry Shaw ran his bus like a well oiled machine. In fact, he probably oils that machine too much. He made sure everyone understood the complete route by giving us a thirty minute question and answer session. If anyone dared speak out of turn he would simply stare them down until they quieted down. He made sure everyone understood there would be NO singing on this bus, NO dancing. Of course, to this Pat and I replied instantly "But we can dance if we want to! We can leave our friends behind! Cause your friends can't dance and if they don't dance they're no friends of mine!"

    He was not amused.

I'll spare you the rest of the nasty details, but by the end of our trip we had ended up five hours late to our destination. Sooo awesome. Then, after another twenty four hours or so of riding, we finally reached Springfield to discover our luggage had not made it with us. Oh man. Oh boy. Let me paint you a picture: We had been riding a bus for three days, two nights. Wearing the same clothes the entire time. With no showers or hygiene around for miles. Did we smell? you might say that. You might also say the sun is hot. And we had no clothes to change into either. It was in other words a very pleasant arrival.

So moving on, everyone was really angry and really upset by the time we got there, and it seemed like this Brickfair might not be as awesome as possible. Then we finally reunited with our friends and it suddenly got a lot better. First we got to meet Maddison, aka Nukaya. She is pretty much ridiculously awesome, and I think it is fair to say she was the star this year, especially for Pat, who by this time had become one of my closest friends. You really just can't spend three days on a bus with someone without either hating them or loving them, and that's all there really is to say on the matter! Andrew was of course back, being his bossy self, but that's what we love about him and although I still wish he had his chin strap beard back it was great seeing him. Naturally the rest of the crew eventually got to hang with us, and that was great. I didn't get to hang out at the apartment everyone else lived in, and I won't lie and say there weren't some hurt feelings at some points because of things related to this (InnerRayg? More like InnerCryag....wait....that was awesome. Name Change coming up.) but this actually turned out to be awesome because the reason I didn't get to visit was because of things I had done, and when you can make things better after you've made a mistake you always feel good. You better believe when Ray has made someone upset he will do whatever it takes to fix it or die trying. And this was all really before Brickfair even started!

Then Brickfair started, at least in my mind, with our annual staff dinner. Not everyone got to go because -somebody- doesn't know how to follow directions, but there was still a sizeable amount of awesome people. There may or may not have been some presence of alcohol during this adventure but it was all good fun, and it really helped make a sour beginning turn into a much sweeter journey. Then we slept and woke up the next day to awesome news: Our luggage was found, much to our relief. You better believe we changed the heck out of our old clothes. I didn't even wait to get home, just slipped into the bathroom and then carried my old dirty pants around with me like some kind of twisted pet. That night we got to go to the "Running of the Bulls", which is everyone goes to the Lego store at night after the mall has closed to buy half priced sets. It was totally rad too, I got the most awesome space ship set I've ever seen.

We went to bed and woke up to the first public day. Public day is when all those smelly people who don't really like Lego but want to check out us nerds come by and so they do that and we all smile and try to ignore them. There was lots of fun this day; we helped out with stuff, we bought things; we ate food. It happens.

Brickfair started being really awesome during bingo. We do bingo every year, but we rarely win things. not this time, oh no. I managed to score a huge set, a nice $150 box set of one of the modular building sets. This thing was huge, and I was very proud of calling my bingo before it happened (The winning number was B6! Destiny I say!). I didn't keep this set, but I made sure it went to a good home. I'll be honest, I had no room for it anyway. Ask Pat, he's seen my room. It is a -mess-. There was also one of those really cool jumbo air jumpy thingies, and I didn't get to go in it this year but man even just watching it was a blast.

So lots of more things happened, and really it becomes kind of pedantic to list all our little social interactions, but just trust me in that it was spectacular. The next day we got to do a spectacular set review after the public finally vamoosed. This review is one you guys will probably be seeing in a few weeks, and it's pretty funny if I do say so myself. Then that night a couple of us got together and had some fun for awhile before going to bed.

Sunday was really a stand out day for one reason; Steve Witt. Every year he takes us all out to dinner and this year was no different. The difference was that we had SOOO MANY people. It was ridiculous how many people we had, and all of us were dressed to the nines. We took over an entire wing of the Outback Steakhouse we were in and oh man did we cause trouble, but the staff were gracious and it was a ton of fun for everyone except Maddison and Pat, because they "had" to go outside and be "sick" or something. Man it must have sucked being all alone together like that I just can't even imagine. Luckily we eventually all came out and joined them for some post-dinner partying. It was great, with one small exception, and everyone had a really spectacular time looking good and being friends.

And just like that, it was over. We didn't leave till the next morning, and infinite thanks to Andrew Six for driving us everywhere we needed to be at the time. Then Pat and I had to go home again on another two day bus, and while we still had fun we honestly spent most of it sleeping because of how little sleep we had all gotten over the period of the event. And now, we're home and sad and bored.

    So here's to next year!

I won't do a shout out to the people I met, because you know who you are and if we had fun you know we had fun already. If we didn't, then next year we'll probably become better friends, sometimes it takes a few times to become buddies with everyone just because we add so many people each year. But if you think maybe when I say I really enjoy your company that I'm talking about you, then you are right. Trust me, there isn't anybody at Brickfair I dislike. In all honesty there is always drama every year, and I know for a fact there are people who dislike some other people there for all sorts of reasons (many of them justified), but I personally could never bring myself to dislike any of you guys. Brickfair is just too good of an experience for me to ever dislike any aspect of it.

Hanging out with some of my awesome friends at Brickfair convinced me that maybe there was more to this blogging thing than I had first believed. So now that I'm back from there I need some good suggestions on blogs to check out. Savvy?

Background: I'm a Design Student at the University of Central Oklahoma. A good one. There can't be modesty in that kind of industry; selling yourself is half the battle.

That's what I'd like to talk about. I've got a future post detailing exactly how you can take good design and turn it into great design. It's about knowing why you do what you do, and being able to explain it coherently. Selling yourself.

The Industry of Design is different from art; it's not about expressing yourself, it's about selling products, making the viewer feel specific emotions and knowingly manipulating their mind. It's a little depressing, but then industry is like that. You choose what side of the road you want to be on, and I'm driving the cadillac. Sorry.

In any case, that's all for another post.

For now I'd just like to give some shout outs for artists out there.

First and foremost, if you want to understand the human body, and be able to draw it as a real thing...you need this book. Three minutes with it and I was literally a better artist. It will do the same thing for you if you take the time to do some studies from it. The more you put into it, the better you will get.

Go, buy it. The complete collection of this renaissance master's work, not the individual bits.

See ya kids, I'll bring Design work next time.

    I'm broken. Let's try this.

I am an adult. This is going to be the blog of an adult. Fair warning. I can, and I will talk about staying up all night at friend's apartments just to talk about life and politics and religion and saving our cash one dollar at a time to make a career for ourselves. It happens. You'll all get there sometime, and the adventure is going to be incredibly unique and mind-numbingly dull at the same time. Just do me a favor, and try to figure things out for yourselves once in awhile.

    Stay tuned; art to come.

In the latest update, things have been set up for a a duel of EPIC PROPORTION, and the best part is - I'm relying ENTIRELY on you all to tell Ray what to do! This fight is totally unscripted and whatever happens is going to be on you guys, so if you think it'd be fun to tell the character to bonk a Bohrok on the head with a penguin, now is your chance!
  18. InnerRayg
Our latest update, two days before the one year anniversary of BZPStuck, is a minute and a half long flash animation with special guest music from member Reznas!

Stay tuned, we've got more cool stuff coming up very soon.
