This is quote from a news site about the game:

"The original publishers, Gazillion Entertainment, dropped the game pretty quickly after launch, handing it off to the LEGO Group and making major cuts to the original dev team at NetDevil (many of whom were picked up by the LEGO group to continue development on the game)."

I wonder if the game was simply unsuccessful because it quickly lost developer support after release.

I'd forgotten about NetDevil's layoffs, and I think that probably did contribute to the apparent failure of the game. Nothing good could've come of it even if it wasn't enough to sink them.
