  1. I guess I do like Hero Factory, but only for the sets. They were by no means fantastic, but they certainly held me over until 2015.

I don't think of Hero Factory as a mistake or knockoff, but it was a step down from Bionicle in my opinion. Hero Factory had its fair share of mistakes, but it could have been way worse. If we didn't have it, that could be about 4-5 years without constraction and cool pieces! As much as Hero Factory dropped the ball, MOCists can't deny the usefulness of the CCBS that HF brought. Despite its flaws, Hero Factory definitely did have its benefits.

  2. I've had some dreams where I'm about to get my hands on LEGO sets that were not only made-up, but they were AWESOME

And every time I opened them, I woke up

    Lego y u do dis

    You too, eh?

Just last night or so, I had a dream BIONICLE G3 came out before December 2016 and Target's shelves were packed with sets. It was 75% BIONICLE and 20% Star Wars while the remaining 5% was probably City or something. G3 looked like a weird BIONICLE-Hero Factory hybrid and the boxes (G2's boxes returned) seemed to take notes from the LEGO Junior sets, what with the amount of red on the boxes. As for the sets, there were a lot of them, but boy, were they something else. The Toa were all made of transparent pieces and came in all colors of the rainbow. They had no color schemes apart from the one color they were each assigned! And to make matters worse, they were all clone sets, same helmet (they had Furno's 1.0/Breakout helmet) and everything. They had shorter figures in a different color from them included in the box. I believe one of the combos was a yellow Toa and green little guy. Then we had this weird mech guy with horribly-designed legs and it looked more like a bad HF set or MOC than a BIONICLE set. That's all I remember seeing.

I guess G3 was taking on a futuristic industrial feel...? I wouldn't have liked the sets all that much if they actually came out, but dream-me was admiring each and every set. He was broke like me, so he couldn't experience the dream sets at all.

  3. Adjustments, man. They're a pain. But hey, it was worth it; those first two comics were really well-designed. However, if it's not what you like to do, stick with what you do like to do. I believe comics should be fun to make, and if you're not having fun, make it fun. As for story, I hear ya. Rethinking things all the time is a pesky process, especially if you make it up as you go along like I do. :D Anyway, good luck on your future comic endeavors and have fun as you go.

I did not see that green screen thing coming, but when I saw that blur, I knew something was up.

  4. Guys, really? "Bionicle: Beast Wars"? Everybody knows that if Bionicle went down that path, it would be called "Bionicle: Rahi Wars."

Now that I've gotten that out of the way, I'm seeing some really cool ideas here, and I think I'll offer up my own.

Alright, here's the setting/story. What if G3 redid Metru Nui? The whole setting and characters can get a fresh, new coat of paint and the new Toa Metru could even face new threats. Even though redesigned Vahki would be the stuff of legends, there could be a whole team of Dark Hunters instead. Just think; The Shadowed One sends six Hunters instead of two (three if you count Eliminator), but this time, they could look for the six Great Disks or something. The Toa Metru end up learning about the Dark Hunter organization and have to find out where their HQ is located, who leads them, etc. That's where Lhikan could come in. The Toa could find him and he could tell them the whole back story on Nidhiki and how TSO is rarely seen or something like that.

As for the sets, G3 needs to show G2 up in terms of amount. We'll have the six Toa Metru, but maybe do something special for Matau. He could have a speeder bike like he did in the beginning of Legends of Metru Nui, but I'm not sure how well that would work out. Either way, we just need a speeder bike. Then we'll have the six Matoran: Nuhrii, Tehutti, Vhisola, Orkham, Ahkmou, and Ehrye. If possible, we could even revive the mask pack gig so you can switch out the Matoran masks to get random citizens. As for the Dark Hunters, we need Krekka and Nidhiki to be involved, and then the other four Dark Hunters could be redesigned G1 Hunters or completely new guys/gals. I guarantee that a villain wave of that caliber will make us forget G2's underwhelming amount of villains. As for special sets, Lhikan needs to be one of them, whether he's a Toa or Turaga.

The next year could have upgraded Toa Metru facing more Dark Hunters and eventually The Shadowed One, but I didn't think that far ahead.

  5. Oh, about motion blur: the motion blur filter in GIMP isn't too reliable. I just used the smudge tool to do it.

Then my problem should be solved. I'll give it a shot next time I work with GIMP. Thanks!
  6. I see ya mastered the posing. That's probably the most important bit. One important thing is to not use Paint and GIMP in conjunction, that makes things slow and awkward. You might wanna make the text a bit bigger than 1 pixel too. Keep practicing, then you can do motion blur to show speed, fire, explosions, and lights that all glow, edit in blood effects (and even custom sprite torn body parts), and even things like heat waves.

As for the comic itself, the first bit of dialogue sounded really DBZ. Plot hasn't moved too much yet so I can't really comment there, looks like something's about to happen though.

Posing does take a bit, but I'd like to say I have it handled. I also have to figure out angled posing, but that won't be too hard. I don't use Paint and GIMP together, but Varova and the main character's sprites and the panel borders were all made in Paint. That's really as far as I went if using Paint and GIMP in tandem. I think I'll just pick a new font altogether. Just as long as it ain't Comic Sans! I will learn all of those things later on, but here's a fun fact: I tried using a motion blur during the production of the comic, but couldn't figure out how to work it, so I improvised.

I can only imagine someone of Frieza's race saying the line word-for-word (without the studio bit), but yeah, if Varova spouts something you'd hear in an anime, it's probably intentional. Expect a lot more anime-like stuff further down the road! Again, I apologize for the slow plot and that will get fixed very soon. Indeed, something is getting ready to happen. And it's gonna be cool.

  7. Remember today as the day I've finished and completed my first GIMP comic. In comic #002, all of the backgrounds were done in GIMP and made by me with some help from tutorials. I apologize for the delay, as I had to learn to use GIMP and using GIMP is time-consuming. Thank you for your patience.

Also, I apologize that the comic is short and that I might not be using GIMP to its full potential. As I go on and keep using GIMP, the comics should be longer and of higher quality. Please bear with me and my learning process and I promise to not give up on GIMP and the quality it brings.

  8. Wow, that's an incredible idea! As a guy with a soft spot for alternate builds, I'm liking the idea. It's so amazing what you can turn your sets into with just a little imagination. As for the people with the sets featured on the site, they now have a bunch of new ways to mess around with their sets. Heck, some might even be inspired to build and share their own original alternate models. We're onto something, folks.

Side note: I want to get that space shuttle set so I can build the X-Shuttle.

  9. I actually remember having dreams where I was killed by wild animals. In the first dream, it was a wolf. The second dream's animal was a mountain lion. All I can say is I'm grateful that I've never met either of these animals out in the wild.

I think I also had a dream where I had Iron Man armor. I distinctly remember flying around in the clouds in first person view while wearing Iron Man armor. I think I ended up fighting Tony Stark as well, but woke up before the fight could conclude.

ALSO apparently the other night I had a dream that a young nathan fillion and I attempted to break into a house

It's my turn to envy you.

  10. I like the thought, but I think we'd all look weird going around the forums and saying "Happy Naming Day" when no significant name-related events have occurred. Sure, somebody could strategically change their display name on the day, but why base a whole day around it when there's only one or two people changing their names that day?

Then again, if BZPower offered a free name change that day for whoever wanted one, now we're thinking.

  11.

This is a pretty interesting piece. I never thought I'd see Dragon Ball Z and BIONICLE come together, especially like this. Takanuva looks like he really fits in with all the fighters in that battle-hungry universe. I'd say you nailed the Dragon Ball feel for the armor, probably because it reminds me of Perfect Cell's body. The eyes and the way you did the mask are all icing on the cake as well. The aura was definitely the cherry on top. Never mind the fact that there's a random cherry sitting on the cake. Who gets to eat it, anyway?

Two thumbs up from me, and not just because I love Dragon Ball Z!

    Thank you!

Yes Perfect Cell was my main reference since he's the only character I was able to find wearing full armor. I considered making Takanuva wear less armor (Like the Sayan Armor that has nothing on the legs), but then I thought "What if I ever decide to make a Toa Mata"?

And of course the cherry is cut in as many pieces as the slices of cake :P

    You're welcome!

The reference was a real benefit, since it helped Takanuva fit in, but one thing I forgot to mention was how he still had some original details that Perfect Cell didn't have, like those horizontal lines going down his torso. The Toa Mata really should look a little more basic, and I think that Saiyan Armor, with a few minor modifications, would work as Nuva armor, but I'll leave that up to you.

That would be some small cuts!

The thought occurred that if you went in true Super Saiyan style-where the only thing that changes about the character is their hair and eyes-you could use a similar style to recreate the Toa Mata in homage to both Dragonball Z and their Golden Masks from year one.

I've actually seen that done before, but in a humanized style. Hidron Nuva could definitely pull it off in the same style as Takanuva.

  12.

As cool as it would be to go further than that, think of it from a story perspective.

You start off as a Matoran and post your way to Toa-hood. Your many member titles take you on all sorts of different hypothetical adventures and you conquer powerful foes along the way, even going for a dip in Protodermis at some point. Hundreds of posts turn to thousands, and eventually, you reach the "Destiny Fulfilled!" title. For a Toa, that means it's time to hang up the Toa tools and armor and become a Turaga. We all know that becoming a Turaga does not mean instant death. When the Toa Metru became Turaga, they continued to live among the Matoran and acted as elders for them. Therefore, it would make sense for "Destiny Fulfilled!", "Village/Koro Elder", or the like to be the final title.

After thinking of it that way, do you still want anything above that?

Yeah, I think everyone can agree n that. But I think what OP is saying is to push that title back to allow for more in between.

I'm sure someone out there would disagree with me, but that was to be expected. And that's not what the polls said, but pushing back that title to make room for more is actually not a bad idea.

The dress looks incredible! The design is creative and it looks like she can actually walk in it. But how does she get it on and off? The dress is really form-fitting on her sides, so I can imagine it isn't an easy process.

It could be that it snaps together in the back somehow. And of course, as the host of a fashion show like this I'm sure she had people to help her get ready.
Considering the dress is LEGO, I find your theory plausible. And of course she would have help, but I imagine the helpers probably had their work cut out for them. :D

I recall reading something a long time ago about using Lego pieces to make clothes. Its cool to see someone wear clothing like this, especially at Comic-Con.

I've also seen wearable Spartan armor from Halo made out of LEGO bricks. However, it was just the plating and not the undersuit.

  16. I originally came here to talk about Vorox's blue pins, but I believe Aanchir brought up a good point with the whole "splashes of color" thing.

That being said, anything silver on Tarix felt really out of place and Berix's feet didn't sit well with me. In my opinion, his feet don't make much sense when arranged with the rest of the colors that way. Looks like he's wearing shoes or something. After seeing feet that fit in with color schemes for years, Berix's feet weren't a refreshing change. Nice to get the Mata feet in that color, though!

I can already tell Robin is going to be incredibly annoying. Especially with those glasses.

I'm even willing to bet that he will be annoying, but will also have a loud, loyal fanbase that will make the rest of us even more sick of him.

    Wait a minute.....

small, somewhat yellow, large goggles, annoying with annoying fanbase

    ...

    ...

    ...

Are you thinking what I'm thinking?

Oh man... This is gonna be the guess to end all guesses...

    Tracer...?

  18. After seeing the new Robin and Joker, I'm starting to see why Batman didn't really bring them up in The LEGO Movie. However, gotta give props to the Joker; his hair's hilarious!

  19. For me, it was always the sets. Ever since I got my first BIONICLE in 2005, I cared way more about the sets. Sure, I would do my best to keep up with the main story as much as I could, but that was usually after getting myself a couple of sets.

Also, if it was no sets and just story, I could just get some sets and come up with my own story. That's part of the fun with LEGO in general, am I right?

I'm no expert on the particular car, so I'm gonna leave the judgment of accuracy to somebody else. But seeing it as just a LEGO car, I'd say that's pretty impressive for a first MOC. The car's shape is a little blocky on some parts, especially the roof, but I'm not sure how intentional that was. Putting that and the visible studs aside, I can tell this is supposed to be a pretty sleek car. And the ability to fit in minifigures really makes the car for me.

I think this is a good first MOC, even if I'm uneducated when it comes to so much as the appearance off the source material. Also, reducing the amount of visible studs would really improve the car's sleekness, but that's up to your girlfriend.

Like I said, it was her first time building anything with LEGO, so we can kinda expect a little blockiness.

Once I teach her some better techniques and how parts work, we may revamp it later on to clear up some of those issues.

And you're not familiar with Bumblebee from the live-action Transformers movies? This was modeled after his appearance in the first three films.

No worries; it's a common aspect on cars made by budding MOCists.

Not a bad idea. Then you can also have her expand beyond cars eventually!

Dang, I loved Bumblebee when those movies came out! I haven't seen any of those movies in years, so my memory's fuzzy. Sorry about that!

  22. A game where you physically walk out of your house and tame Rahi is a game that I would play religiously. However, I don't think a reskin for Pokémon Go would be too good of an idea. It would need some of the gameplay suggestions that the other members came up with.

i announce the new update for a new comic.

And I'm glad you do, but what I'm saying is that the new ones will be easier to find and read if you mark the latest comic(s) as "new" in the main post and link to the new comic in the announcement post. The second thing is optional, but if you at least do the first thing, I can find your new comics a little easier. I'm not trying to beat you up or anything; I love your comics and you've improved when it came to announcement etiquette, but I initially had a tough time finding that Dallior comic. I think my overall observation skills (and I use the term generously) might have something to do with it, but it'll just be convenient, you know?

okay, but can you show me the example ?? im confused...

For starters, I see you're putting in the "new" marker! Nice touch! I hate to be nitpicky, but you don't need the quotation marks. Putting that aside, good job!

Now, let's pretend I'm you for a second. I just finished a comic and I'm going to make an announcement post.

    "Alright, here's the new comic."

    or

    "I've posted a new comic.

    Link"

You don't have to say what I said word for word, but you get the point. It'll save your readers some time and they can respond faster.

Also, saw the new panels. That arm thing took me by surprise too! And the spill thing, man. I dunno how Wairu kept it together. I guess he was too busy raging! And sitting on that alarmingly large pile of gaming gear.

as you look closer at the last panel, the sexy wet kanini just made dallior nosebleed.

Oh, I noticed! ;) Just forgot to bring that up. Bled less than I thought, to be honest.
