Yeah I would offer lunch like omi but I live in the middle of the desert! I wanna move to san francisco or some other place thats a hub of technology.

Well anyway kelly what would you tell a person (me specificaly) of what to do to get a job like that. I think thats where I want to take my career. But I am not completely sure. Any insight would be helpful, so I can grab the college classes next year to make steps to my goal.

I know your feeling. I had to step down from a couple of my websites also. A full time job really makes it hard. But I don't have family yet so I hope I don't have to experience that for awhile! JK.

Um Bink as your not here to make new features I am willing do devote a little of my time to maintain new features and finish those skins from so long ago. Or should I ask B6 now?

I looked at Media Temple again, but it's just not for us.

Maybe someday. But I can round up a few good alternatives for you it case another cataclysm happens again.

I just don't trust your current host. Maybe its cause I love virtual servers.

Price, price, price. The reason the server upgrade was held back to begin with. I don't think we're going to be springing 750 a month anytime soon for our hosting.

yeah yeah I know. 750 is a bit much. But that is an amazing plan. I just hope project akashi will bring in enough money to support that.

Just think though. With that much power, BZP would never be down.

I am thinking about starting my own image hosting service. Just for MOC's though. I don't have a lot of space really (20GB) but it is possible for me to do this. So would anyone be interested?

I did calculations on my awstats and I figured out that I am getting close to 200% more visitors... goodness.

Hmmmm, I did notice I jump in increase on my site also. Like I think it was this last saturday when I released the new news system and the new style for it. My hits jumped like 200% So I think it might be due to the summer. Now that everyone is out and about from school they google search more for bionicle and they hit our sites more often.

Wow, you all have poor choices in server hosting. One I have never heard of northstar.... Of course I only use virtual servers, so I don't trust normal dedicated servers, so thats probably why I never heard of them. But that really sucks you need to have a better taste in hosting cause I have never heard of so many problems for a server except from you. Bink you really really need to switch to a virtual dedicated server. I have many suggestions I can give you. They are really good for sites like this cause they can span like 3 servers but act as 1. Now that sounds like it wouldn't work good but it really does. Its like the best hosting you can get, without the big cost. I have seen a couple sites transition to those servers and they have done great they haven't had many problems.

Um hey I have found very cheap servers with great quality. Look I am sure bink is paying right around the $200 ballpark. Now with the downtime that this server has I have found many better servers for 1/2 the price, or the same. One of the best being mediatemple. best prices for the best servers. But binky has already said that he wants cpanel so I would being willing to help search but only if bink is willing to change cause I don't want to waste time here.

Bink you know your problem right? Its the server. Its not the constant modifications you make to the server that helps. But when the server isn't so good in the first place... theres not much you can do. Look you need a freakin new server. My friend and I were talking about this and he has said he has seen bigger communities than this that never went down and they were using a single server. So you need a new server with better quality standards. If it takes a load off of you I can do some research on some new servers for you.

Uhm not a good thing to do at the same time. trust me. never had anything good of doing two things at once. So just take it one step at a time.

Hey that sounds alot like what happened to me! A company called me up the other day and offered me pretty much the same thing!

Sigh ye are all uneducated about computers... First macs are the worst things ever made! I would kill myself before I had to use mac as my main operationg system. Now I really like their hardware which is another story. And that is why I have a iMac sitting next to me with vista booted on it.

Now bink I suggest you try reinstalling vista one more time. I have been using vista since beta 1 even before it was called vista and just longhorn. And have been using it as my main os since beta 2. I tried using my xp boot the other day... man once the loading screen started I had enough time to go make myself some lunch, eat it slowly, and watch the tube. I come back and it just finished booting. great now to login. Another 20 mins down the drain. Now vista boot. *presses power button* 5 minutes later i am in firefox doing my normal checkups on the server. I couldn't live without vista it is ten times better than xp no matter what others say. And to all those who are waiting cause of bugs, there are no bug except the copy, cut, delete bug. I have been using this since beta 1! bugs is just a media hype!

so go by the upgrade to vista now!

1 you can have as much ram as you would like. cause you can purchase more in 128mb increments for 19.95 a month.

2 I do not think your problem lies in how much ram you have.

now I searched around and found these specs on the servers: The physical servers that host every (dv) are carefully tuned and monitored HP ProLiant DL380 G4s, featuring dual 3.0 GHz Xeon Processors and RAID 5 SCSI drives.

Now you don't have to use plesk. you can log onto the linux distro and use command line if you prefer. personaly thats what I would do. You can use any kind of server management software.

One more thing is yes it can handle spike bandwidth periods. The cool thing about (dv) is that it alocates what resources you need and when so when you are having a slow day so say like only 1000 people only visited it that day then you would not give you as much resources. But when you are having an ultra good day with say 10,000 visitors that day then you would have much more resources. Another cool thing is that you aren't confined to one server. so when in times of need you are actualy pulling resources from multiple servers.

I am just trying to get bzp to a better server. Cause I really hate the busy messages.

Bzp is paying over 200 dollars. But media temple's highest plan is 150... and it is 2 terabytes of bandwidth and enough storage. And (mt) isn't hype. I have used it for almost a year and my clients have said they really love this hosting company.
