  1. IC: Yes. Yes, good. It's working. I can even still see my way to the door. Just inch that way. Slowly Masa, slowly. IC: "You hop up, Kel. I kinda want to stretch my legs. Cancer doesn't need to carry all three of us and the chest."
  2. IC: whoof Tor's blow definitely connected a little better than hers did. She needed to create a little room; this close together she couldn't use the kicks she was fond of. She hooked her foot around Tor's and shoved, hoping to topple her or at least knock her off balance and create the space she needed to better control the flow.
  3. IC: I'm just going to stay very quiet, and very still. If I do that successfully they may believe I have become deaf as well as blind, or they may mistake me for a furnishing entirely. Either way I can pretend that I was not here or deny seeing anything so awkward as the Rora having a small breakdown less than eight feet from where I'm standing. Nope. No Masa here. Just a coat rack. Thaaaaaat's it.
  4. IC: "Aw, if it was gonna be easy why'd the chief want to send me?" The merc grinned, seizing upon her chance without warning or hesitation to snag Plagia about the waist with one arm and drag her into a bear hug. The spin afterwards was just to burn off the extra momentum of dragging her in so fast. "What, are they letting just anyone help out now? The bar get that low already?" "Heya, babe."
  5. IC: "Probably gathered waiting for us." Skrihen commented, approaching the other irregular and the Highlander she had encountered a few times before. Not often, but enough to have the rudiments of a working relationship. It hadn't been long since Ihu-Koro withdrew most of their forces back to their own village. The Vortixx was a new wrinkle, obviously; that's why Korzaa asked her to tag along and take a look. "Hear you're in charge of this death ride, LT."
  6. IC: "Leli needs to bring her plunder back home. My crab's still in the Koro, and I don't really want to carry the chest the whole way. Feel like coming?" The Ussalryman liked Kellin. He was an average sort, but solid for it. Normal. He'd made for a very stabilizing influence on the trip back. "You can crash at my place when we get there if you want."
  7. IC: One arm wrapped around Dorian's shoulders, the other handed him the requested bottle. He'd buy Praggos a new one later, but right now it was going towards a greater cause. It was a lot to unpack. Krayn picked his own glass back up and downed the remainder while he wordlessly offered the best support he could to someone who, not that long ago, had been one of half a dozen or so reasons for the second worst day of his life. But for how long ago that had really been it felt longer. Even if it hadn't it paled, and so did everything else, with the confirmation that Makuta really was back. And with that came anger and a sense of betrayal. Not at Dorian, or at the late Nimil, or even really at the deceased Necromancer. The last was responsible, of course, but there was no use being angry at a dead monster for being what it was. No, his anger was reserved for the people who had decreed, to the word, "Makuta was gone." "I think," He said after a moment. "That kicking the daylights out of a Maru for some answers might make me feel better. Anyone in?"
  8. IC: "Skyra broke her brain being Skyra. And actually, for once I've got a different Gukko Force officer to blame, and if I ever find out who..." The ex-Lieutenant made a vague throwing away gesture, clearly declining to follow the line of thought any further. One of his shoulders might not have been perfect, but the other was fine and so was his spine. He had no difficulty walking over to the newly poured glasses even with his passenger. "And I was told in no uncertain terms, Shaddix, that I'm not allowed to call myself old yet. So you don't get to, either." He picked up his glass and took a drink. "I appreciate the offer, Praggos, and you're welcome to try. But I'll count my lucky stars I lived and not fuss too much about the shoulder."
  9. IC: "Couldn't tell you. Tarkahn got word, the Kalta went to get Reo, and that's all I know." The Bo-Toa shrugged. "I probably just beat his summons to your office, I'd think. Hit the Darkwalk with the Highlanders and recruits, leave with the same number we brought in, and see how the Vortixx does. That about sum up my job, boss?"
  10. IC: oop, too flashy Her foot came back down around the same time Tor's did, and her weight was centered on her back foot. Naturally, she had just finished a kick. Their center of gravities were in the same compass direction, albeit inverted from their perspectives. Something Saeva was perfectly willing to work with. Her arms had been pretty well at her waist for the kick and that stood her in reasonably good stead now; her left arm rose, her forearm catching Tor's from below and forcing the punch high. Then she leaned in a little, distributed her weight a little more evenly, and took a quick jab at Tor's ribs with her right. Best way to try and repay her for the way hers were hurting like helI.
  11. IC: Ding ding ding! Saeva giggled as the hit went home. Not full force, naturally; enough to ring Sparky's bell a little, obviously, but they were playing. Of course she was pulling her punches. Buuuut Red did put ten widgets on her, she couldn't let him lose them to a monkey! Tor recovered quickly, slippery one she was, but she figured wrong on where the follow-up would go. She advanced a couple steps even as Tor stumbled back and instead shot a sidekick towards her friend's midriff. Better to keep her unsteady!
  12. IC: Saeva crowed as a move connected at last, despite the new ache in her ribs. Tor recovered gracefully but it was a recovery and for those brief moments she had the advantage to press. She finished popping back to her feet, electing to leave her blade on the ground entirely, about the same time that Tor was making contact with the ground. By the time she was coming to her feet Saeva had closed the distance with a few quick steps. Sparky's head came up— —And her eyes spied a quick, solid right cross sliding towards her left cheek from a Ta-Toa low and solid on her feet.
  13. IC: "Hey, Shaddix. Watch the shoulder." Krayn commented, patting the Toa of Iron on the back around a grimace of pain. "If Praggos gave her a tumor he can probably get it back out, too. Hiring negotiations are in progress, Praggos, but it wouldn't hurt your odds if you poured me a little of that."
  14. IC: "Hey, Kellin!" Tarnok, just barely, could spot the Matoran in the sea of Dasakan blue and crystal. He set Leli's chest of plunder down gently on Cancer's back, as mindful of how it was placed as he would have been for his own crab. Just because it was light enough for him to handle was no reason to be rude. Could the other Matoran hear him? He raised a hand and waved, repeating himself; "Kellin!"
  15. IC: Krayn followed wordlessly letting Dehkaz lead the way out of a ship whose layout he no longer knew. But a few moments into the journey he paused, holding up a hand for Dehkaz to do the same. He tilted his head, catching the barest snippets of conversation. He grimaced a little at how faint they were; ever since Ko-Koro he hated to allow his ears their proper sensitivity but in this case he saw little choice. Gradually, very gradually, he permitted the decibels that reached his ears to climb until he could hear more clearly. Then he blinked, and looked over his shoulder to Dehkaz. "I think, sir, you've got an interesting guest." Gesturing for the captain to follow he turned down a different hallway, following his ear to the trio steadily working their way through a bottle and poked his head into the room. "Well, that's not what I was expecting."
  16. IC: "Consult with Reordin Maru," The mercenary answered promptly and without hesitation, scanning over the words on the tablet she'd been handed. Despite the look Korzaa gave her— something she admitted amused her— she was on her best behavior for the Captain. Skri always tried to be. She had a lot of respect for the Matoran in her own way. Still the innocent smile she gave her boss had just a trace of irreverence. "You know how the Maru can be. Catch him on his off hours and he won't talk business unless you sip at a beer. We were talking some training regimen changes for the newer recruits until the Kalta showed up to bring him to Tarkahn." She cocked her head a little, lowering the tablet to regard the Captain more directly. "Has he filled you in yet? Kalta said a whole fleet of those Dasaka made land in Ga-Wahi."
  17. IC: "This is she. Umbraline Sato, Hogo Karoru, Sergeant Munequita. White, Umbraline Sato, Hogo Karoru." The Menti said, pointing at each person in turn. The look on her face became studiously innocent, leaning slightly into the arm around her shoulders. "She's the local law so play nice." IC: "That's a better idea. Where's he?"
  18. IC: oof Sooo, fast. Taking masks out of the equation had taken out her Kadin but she'd kind of expected removing Tor's Kakama to even things up pretty well. Turns out Sparky was slippery. But that was okay. So far she'd been pretty happy to be the lumbering, obvious bull; it was a fight for fun, what did it matter if she took a few hits? But she could be pleeeeeenty sneaky herself. Like now. She moved with the impact and planted the hand that she'd planned to grab Tor with, and used the moment of her charge to sweep her legs around to hopefully sweep Tor off hers. She was better with a sword than she'd expected, but she was pretty sure once she was on the ground she'd have the upper hand.
  19. IC: "Well," Krayn knocked back the last of his drink and set the glass down on the desk. "We can get going, then. I should probably pick up a few things in the Koro anyway."
  20. IC: "..." The Onu-Matoran did laugh this time, shaking his head and walking back up the gangplank. He'd lost his own pack on Mt. Koshiki so he had the free hands to carry the chest. With a few soft, polite words to the two Dashi he took the handles on either side and lifted it up. "Come on. Let's get you back before you find anyone else to swindle."
  21. IC: "Says a lot of good things about her." Krayn mused, looking thoughtful. Then he shrugged with a wry half smile. "Suppose if it turns out not to be the right fit I could resign again. Not like I've got much of a reputation to tarnish, now do I?" He laughed. "I'll see what I think of her when we stop by the Koro. The Akiri, too, if I get the chance."
  22. IC: "Course I can!" The Ta-Toa laughed again, louder with the deflection of her strike. Torana hopped back but Saeva moved forward, practically bouncing on her toes, coming in low and fast. Not to swing her weapon, but pushing off hard to try and catch Tor's midsection with her shoulder and wrap her open left arm around. Not because it was the smartest thing to do, but because it seemed awful fun. Besides, it wasn't fair to keep swinging away. Tor's bamboo sword wasn't a fair matchup for hers, even with the sheathe. So what if she handicapped herself a little?
  23. IC: "Sure there aren't a few more psychics you want to 'trade' with?" The comment could've been judging but the genuine laughter rippling underneath said otherwise. Anything that kept her spirits up was important, and she had been fair. It may have worked out a little better for her in some cases but she did her best to make sure she gave a fair deal. Even when, at the prospect of acquiring even a piece of metal, some of the Dasaka had been willing to trade all of even the meager possessions they had been able to take with them. She'd still more than gotten her 'money's' worth though, as evidenced by her crystalline bounty. "Want some help carrying all that back home?"
  24. IC: "It doesn't, really." The Bo-Toa said, standing and straightening to her full height. Shorter than the Toa of Gravity but if she was aware of it she hadn't bothered to abate the irritation in her eyes. However civil most of her expression they promised a temper best not roused. She downed the last of her beer in a single moment and tossed the bottle onto the floor with the others maybe a bit harder than the one before. "Thanks for commiserating though, scarface." "I've gotta check in with the Captain anyway. Someone was saying she had something for me to do." The merc added to Reordin, casting the other two Toa from her plane of existence as much as her attention. "We'll talk later." Skri drew her jacket tight against the cold she was about to face again and walked out of the bar, without sparing another glance at the other Toa. Getting back to the Captain's office wasn't a short walk but taking it as a jog helped keep her warm. The number of guards she saw increased, naturally, as she approached the better repaired portions of town and the Sanctum Guard's own HQ. Most of them she recognized by face even if not by name. The Guard had taken heavy losses when Echelon's forces attacked, and most of the recruits since she'd had a hand in training. Not always directly but closely enough for them to be recognizable to her and her to them. Recognizable enough that no one really bothered to ask questions about where she was going until she got to Korzaa's office and knocked on the frame. "Oi, boss," She said easily, not without a trace of respect. However it may have sounded. "Scuttlebutt says you wanted to talk to me?" OOC: @Visaru
  25. IC: "Whitehot picked it out," The Menti commented absently, turning her arms palm out and twisting slightly side to side. The jacket moved with the motion, and in so doing allowed the light to catch the hilts on either side of her waist; one that refracted the light, and one that merely caught it. Then she dropped one arm and raised the other to her collar, unfolding it a little to let the small metal emblem catch the light better. "And as it happens, helping sort out all of this is my job. At least until someone starts a fight, then I've got to go between us and the Marines. Which... is a lot more likely than it was." She patted Daijuno's back again. "If you'll let us, Dai, I'd like to help you look. I'm sure Umbraline Sato will too, as well as Hogo... Karoru, yes?" She smiled at the clearly uncomfortable Menti and tilted her head a little. "The two of you can help bring us up to date on what has happened, as well. And I would be happy to answer any questions either of you have about the island here." IC: Sailing, it turned out, was truly awful. Some Onu-Matoran could scarcely stand to be aboveground, let alone bear the sun in their eyes or visit Ga-Koro. The slightly unsteady nature of the lily pads upset them to no end. He'd never been that unfortunate. None of those things caused him any alarm. But his first day at sea aboard the Yukanna had been miserable, as had his second. After that he started to feel better, but after two months at sea Tarnok was perfectly happy never to set foot on a ship again. Nor had he been happy with all the time to think. Still he'd been fortunate enough to have a deck of cards on hand by long habit, and they'd all had an awful lot of time to play. Eventually the Dasaka got bored enough that some of them stopped by to learn and play. Despair could only be sustained at its height for so long before you simply became numb. But at long last they had arrived, and it was time to get moving. "Leli," He said, turning to his comrade. And friend. "Got all your stuff?"
