Today I turn ten thousand days old. I don't feel a day over nine thousand.
-
I recently reached my 13 year BZP Anniversary.
Some of you might be wondering how I made it this long.
And honestly...
It was a Breez

150, Dude!
By SPIRIT,
It has been brought to my attention that Pokémon Sun & Moon will be released in 150 days.
Coincidentally, the last possible day of exams next semester is in 150 days, whereby I will be done with school forever.
Either way, in 150 days, a world of dreams and adventures awaits!
150 days...

I finally ordered the Inika today. I know I said that I was going to order them when they first came out on Shop @ Home, but the combination of the S&T Contest and my vacation drove it from my mind. According to the site, they should be arriving in about two weeks because of the backorder, but I can wait.
Now you might be asking why I entitled this entry "42". Well, as all Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy readers know, 42 is the answer of life, the universe, and everything. Now the scary thing is that the price ended up being X dollars and 42 cents. Even scarier, my parents deducted the money I eared this week (see previous entry) from the cost, but there was still $42 left for me to pay. I think that's a little more than a coincidence.

I just did the math and I missed it by a few days! :annoyed2:
Oh, not the 7000th year since my birth, but rather the 7000th day. If my calculations are correct, I experienced my 7000th sunrise on June 6th, 2009 (it looked just like all the other ones, mind you). From now on I guess I'll have to go back to expressing my age in days like a newborn child. Today, for instance, I turned 7005 days old.

So today marks 365 days of me living in Australia (in addition to it being Canada Day) and it's certainly been an interesting year for me. In this entry, I will talk about my average interaction when meeting an Australian for the first time.
When Australians hear me speak, it doesn't take long for them to realize that something is awry. The more tentative Australians will ask where I'm from, but the bolder ones will flat out guess, which I always find much more interesting. To some Australians, I apparently sound either Irish or English, but those with better hearing can easily detect my North Americanness.
And when they do, you can see the internal struggle on their face as they try to guess whether I'm American or Canadian. Ultimately, it's a fruitless exercise since urban middle class Americans (for the most part) sound just like urban middle class Canadians. Anyway, once they've gotten this far down the conversation, the Australian must make a choice: is he Canadian or American? It normally goes like this.
"Are you American?"
"No, I'm Canadian."
"Oh no, I'm so sorry."
Alternatively.
"Are you Canadian?"
"Yes."
"Oh, thank goodness. I wanted to say American, but I didn't want to offend you."
So yeah. Australians love Canadians and think calling us Americans is the worst insult ever. Clearly they are not aware of our reputation for politeness and easygoingness.
Oh good, they have both of these emoticons.

This past week has been pretty easy for me. I've had to do a few major cleaning projects (over 2 hours long ), but at least I get payed extra. Other than that and laze about all day, I've also been looking for a job, but I haven't had much success. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to get a lot of BZP-related stuff because of server errors (especially yesterday's) but I did manage to do a new chapter of Wildfire so my conscience is at peace.

I just felt this bore saying.
When forming your opinion on a controversial subject, or your world view in general for that matter, I would hope that you can remember the somewhat oxymoronic words of Obi-Wan Kenobi:
"Only a Sith deals in absolutes!"
So yes, technically in saying that, he is calling himself a Sith, but it's an important message nonetheless. Nothing is black and white, might I stress NOTHING at all. What political party you support, what religion you observe, what forms of media entertain you, what people you like, what people you dislike, what scientific theories you subscribe to, your stance on certain laws and policies, what is good, what is evil, what is lawful, what is unlawful...
There are two sides to anything and it is extremely dangerous and foolish to polarize yourself on an issue. Assuming that most people are not completely stupid, there is probably a reason why others are choosing a side that isn't the one you agree with.
You should try to compromise. See things from their perspective. Why don't they agree? Are there things they might be perceiving incorrectly about you? Are there things you have been perceiving incorrectly about them?
I've just been seeing a lot of polarized thinking floating lately and while it is likely that this is because it's only the people with very extreme views that feel the need to bash me about the head with them, I did pay good money for this blog and so I figured it couldn't hurt to remind those who form their opinions rashly that the world is more complex than they would make it to be.

A Sad Thought
By SPIRIT,
How do you suppose the people of 1111 AD felt when they realized that it would be another 8889 years until the date could be written in binary again?

So yeah, today's my half birthday. I can hardly believe it's been six months already since then and yet, so much has happened in that time.
I'd also like to take this time to mention three groups of people I don't like:
1) Music snobs. Who do you think you are?! What gives you the right?!
2) People who sign into IM programs with their status set to as "Away". Who do you think you are?! What gives you the right?!
3) People who make short online videos with intros that are like twenty seconds long. Who do you think you are?! What gives you the right?!

When I first heard that some people had gone ahead and made a full-length comedic musical based on the Harry Potter saga, I initially had incredibly low expectations for the project. Just a few days ago, though, I decided to sit down and check it out and gosh darn if it isn't one of the funniest things I've ever seen. I highly recommend watching it for Potter fans everywhere, but a word of warning, there is a bit of foul language in it. It's called A Very Potter Musical and it has a sequel A Very Potter Sequel, both of which are outstanding.
But don't just take my word for it. Check it out at your local video hosting site! *Reading Rainbow transition sound*

Hey, folks. It's the time of year where kids from 1 to 92 are writing their letters to ol' Santa Claus and before you finish, allow someone who has experienced many Christmases to give you a piece of advice that he has learned from the ages.
You might be asking yourself, "what platform should I get this game on? Nintendo DS or one of the consoles?" The answer to this is quite simple:
DO NOT GET A MULTI-PLATFORM GAME FOR THE NINTENDO DS.
99/100 times, it will result in disappointment. For some reason or other, despite the DS being a highly versatile and powerful system, developers put an incredibly much smaller amount of effort into making games for it that also have platform versions. Granted, there are exceptions to this, where the DS version is greater than or equal to the console game (BIONICLE Heroes, for instance), but unless your family has an orchard of money trees, it's not worth the risk.
Instead, go for the DS-exclusive games. 100% of the developers' time and effort has gone into making it and it's pretty much guaranteed that they're better than the multi-platform ones.
And that's my bit of Christmas advice for you.

Oh, the Barraki only wish they had it as good as I do.
Yup, that's right, Bionicle Artwork III: Bionicle Comics is now under my control (I suspect it had something to do with my PSA ). This now places me in a tie for second with ET for working in the most forums; Kex, alas, still has one more than us. I have also made a lateral movement from Software to Sets. I rather liked the Software forum, but given that nothing new in the way of BIONICLE video games, etc. has come out recently, I wasn't getting much to do there.
Will the vast SPIRIT Empire continue its expansion over the rest of the forums? Stay tuned.
As for my real life, I'm doing okay (as far as anyone can be going back to school ). I'm recovering from a slight cold, but otherwise things have been pretty normal (certainly less adventurous than looking after a bunch of 4-11 year olds over the summer ).

I didn't get very much done today because I thought someone was coming over in the morning, but they came at 1:00 PM so I ended up wasting several hours waiting for them. When they finally left, I barely had enough time to do anything so I just watched the end of Two Towers and plopped myself down on BZPower for the rest of the evening. Sigh... I hope I can get more done tomorrow.

An Open Letter
By SPIRIT,
An open letter to the people who like the things that I do not like:
Get over yourselves! Who do you think you are liking those things? Have you no self-respect? Have you no shame? They say there's no accounting for bad taste, but you take the cake. I bet you even took the worst flavour of cake. You have formed your opinions on incorrect or incomplete information and I lament the waste of humanity that you have become because of it.
An open letter to the people who do not like the things that I like:
What's the matter with you? Are you deaf, blind, and completely lacking of all sensory input? How could you not like those things? Did you even try them? Did you even deign to spend an instant of your precious time to gain a greater understanding of the world before retreating into the dank, enclosed prison of familiarity? It's people like you that have been a thorn in the side of true innovators and prevent society from reaching its full potential.
An open letter to the people who like the things I like:
Where do you get off liking the things that I like? Do you think that makes you better than me or even just as good by association? I will have you know that I like the things that I like to a much more appropriate degree than you do. Your varying amounts of interest and disinterest across a variety of subjects have been poorly allocated and your poor management of this has brought ill opinion upon me by association. Perhaps it would be best to reduce any revelations of your opinions on these matters until such time as I can verify your qualifications to do so.
An open letter to the people who don't like the things that I don't like:
Keep fighting the good fight, we'll beat them someday!

163 142 142 121 142 142 142
What does it mean?
Why, that is the pattern of the scars on my right leg (going from top to bottom) left behind by the stitches from my operation back in July, written in ancient Mayan numerals. Or could it have some deeper significance? (If you can think of one, let me know).
And speaking of my leg, I'm probably at 90-95% right now. I can do all the basics, it's just things like maintaining my foot's arch and full range of motion in my knee that are holding me back.
UPDATE:
So I found out I've miscounted, here's the actual code:
163 142 142 121 163 142 142
Alright, math wizzes, does this change anything?

The auditions have been all listened to, votes have been tallied, and the newest cast members of PSA #5 are:
Mantax: Bioni-Cool Jack
Lewa: Cee-estee
Tahnok: Swert
Matoro: Boba Fett
My condolences to Phyoohrii and Toaraga who were very close runners up. Thanks a bunch for auditioning guys and congratulations to all the winners!
Also, a minor production update: I'm now officially back to where I was (from an animation standpoint) before everything got deleted and I've got both of the songs recorded. Maybe this PSA will have a February release after all.

Another forum has fallen before my might. That's right, the BZP Voting Booth now belongs to me and there's nothing you can do to stop me!
*cricket*
Yes, I know it's an easy forum, but at least I have 3 forums like everyone else now. And who knows? Maybe this is a temporary solution and I will be eventually shunted to your favourite forum. *lame spooky finger gestures*
I don't mind, though. I'll help out wherever I can. Sometimes the forums have up moments and others they don't. Currently, things are moving pretty slowly in all three of my forums, but they'll pick up eventually. For instance, in my first week, I was able to close about ten topics in a row in S&T, but now I can barely get one. Oh well, hopefully it's just a dry spell and it will clear up soon.
In summary, beware my spreading of peanut butter terror! *more lame spooky finger gestures*
