Since I'm not really interested in going through the rigmarole of getting patents for these things, here are four inventions that need to exist. Go ahead, steal my ideas, just someone please invent them.

    1) An iPhone that doesn't cost an arm and a leg. All I want to do is have all the features of my iPod Touch, but also be able to make calls so that I don't have to carry around both my cellphone and my iPod. I don't want 4G Internet, GPS, or any of that crazy stuff, I just want to make calls and texts from my iPod Touch without the expensive smartphone plans.

    2) Brake lights on the front of cars. I can't tell you how many times I've seen cars approaching yellow lights when I'm turning left and I don't know if they're stopping or not. Seriously. Why can't the people in front of you know when you're braking? What's the big secret?

    3) WiFi adaptor for phone jacks/adaptor cable for wireless devices that can plug into a phone jack. As an owner of a Nintendo DS and an iPod Touch, I can't even name the number of times I've seen an open phone jack with access to the Internet, but no way to connect to it. Sure, wireless is nice and all, but not everywhere has it and there needs to be an alternate solution for those devices.

    4) Knee pads for baby pants. Simple one, really. Tired of your kids wearing out their pants by crawling around on the floor? Sell pants with built in knee pads. Problem solved.

The auditions have been all listened to, votes have been tallied, and the newest cast members of PSA #5 are:

    Mantax: Bioni-Cool Jack

    Lewa: Cee-estee

    Tahnok: Swert

    Matoro: Boba Fett

My condolences to Phyoohrii and Toaraga who were very close runners up. Thanks a bunch for auditioning guys and congratulations to all the winners!

Also, a minor production update: I'm now officially back to where I was (from an animation standpoint) before everything got deleted and I've got both of the songs recorded. Maybe this PSA will have a February release after all.

If I die, please don't let anyone make a cheesy Facebook status about me -- especially years after the fact. I mean, I'll accept an online death announcement, but nothing more.

Maybe a statue in a park, but that's it!

I just can't stand the thought of someone else getting fake internet points from my death. It's outrageous, disrespectful, and it cheapens my life to appear associated with the kind of person who does that. No one wants to read about how so-and-so was your best friend, and you miss them now. That's depressing and sad. Go find a new best friend and make better Facebook posts!

Also I think I might like to get that thing where they turn your corpse into a tree. Look it up; someone Shared it to me on Facebook.

So we lost just about six months there. Six months, though... sound familiar? That's right, the Time Slip. So look carefully, guys. There could be Av-Matoran in your midst!

Anyway, I didn't lose too much. Sure, the BIONICLE In Under 1:30 topic filled with people telling me how awesome I am was deleted, but there's a new version now. Also, praise the Great Spirit Makuta that I finished Wildfire on September 20th so that I didn't lose anything (all the same, I'm saving all my fanfics now). The BRC took a pretty bad hit, but I got a Google cache of the timeline, so I just need to convert that to BBCode and I'll be all set. Lastly, in a strikingly amazing bout of good fortune, the Mantax Facts PSA topic is now alive again so feel free to post there if you have not done so already.

So yeah, that's all I have to say about that.

    Also, this is Entry 100.

    It's super effective!

So most of you won't know this, but today there was an earthquake on the border of Quebec and Ontario that I felt all the way in ADDRESS WITHHELD. They say it measured 5.0 and it even hit some of the north eastern states.

Where I live, it wasn't too bad; the wall shook a little and rattled a picture frame, but nothing was damaged. I thought a truck had driven by or something, but when I looked outside, there was no truck, so I was a bit confused until I heard about it on the radio.

Then we had a tornado warning.

Nature is trying to kill me.

So this morning my dad got ready for work as usual and went into the garage only to come back inside a few minutes later to report that it had been broken into last night. Some loose change was missing along with random things like a pair of gloves he kept in his car.

Now here's the annoying part: I probably could've stopped this.

My room is right by the garage and as I was up late on the computer, I thought I heard a noise like the side door to the garage opening, but I just dismissed it as the wind. I debated checking it out, but I just assumed that my mind was playing tricks on me. I also probably could've taken the guy since I'm a six foot tall, seventy kilogram, nineteen year old male and there are a variety of weapons I had access to that I could have defended myself with that I had easy access to (a wooden baseball bat and an aluminum cane to name a few).

Right now I'm all jittery with adrenaline thinking "what if I'd gone to check".

And like, nothing important was stolen, we literally keep nothing of value in the garage apart from our cars, but it's just the principle of it all. I live in a supposedly low-crime suburban neighbourhood; people and possessions are supposed to be safe at night. Whoever the thief was, he clearly needed the money more than we did, but all the same, stealing isn't something I condone.

All I can say is, whoever did this better watch themselves. Fool me once, shame on... shame on you. Fool me -- you can't get fooled again.

Just for kicks the other day, I decided to check out the Spanish and French audio on my TLR DVD just to hear how the characters sounded and to see how well I could follow (since I also speak French and Spanish). To give myself a hand, I turned on the subtitles only to find that some genius had decided to translate the subtitles and the actual audio separately! So while the same message comes across, the wording between the subtitles and the non-English dialogue is different!

Now, before we start bashing LEGO and the people they work with, this is not the first time I've seen this on a DVD. In several DVDs I've rented/purchased/seen in school, if you put on non-English subtitles and audio, they don't always match up.

I really have to wonder the logic behind this. They pay a guy to translate the script into French and Spanish so that they can hire new voice actors to dub the movie. Then they pay another guy to translate what the subtitles say rather than transcribe what the first guy actually wrote. Call me crazy, but this sounds like a ridiculous waste of time and money. I mean, how hard is it to put stuff into a movie THAT YOU'VE ALREADY WRITTEN?! Like is there some point down the line where they realize "oh wait, we totally already got a guy to translate the script." "Well, should we just fire the guy translating the subtitles?" "Nah, he's almost done anyway."

I encourage any of you who own DVDs with this option to go check them out and see if things don't line up just right. It may sadden you to discover how prevalent this actually is...

So, hello everyone. Been kinda busy lately and I just thought I'd catch you guys up to speed on what's been going on.

As some of you may or may not know, I had a birthday on April 8th. As far as birthdays go, it was pretty lame. It was the second last day of class, so in wanting to know what to study for exams, I wasn't able to go home and instead had to stick around during the 8th and the 9th. I played a bit of LEGO Universe, so that was okay, but that was about it... The actual celebrating happened on the evening of the 9th, when I got to go home. There was cake and presents (most of which were travel-related, but more on that later), which was a large improvement on the previous day. After that, I got a whole week of no school until exams (which are done now, so I'm home for the summer), ordinarily, the perfect time to study, but if you know me, procrastination's the name of the game. So about the travel thing, I guess now is as good a time as any to announce it, starting in September, I'll be moving from Ontario, Canada and living in Nice, France for the year as I do a year of school abroad. Pretty excited for it and still partially unable to internalize it, so, this should be quite the adventure. Noticing a great deal on Future Shop for free shipping on orders of over $39, I decided to use some of my birthday money to purchase Pokémon HeartGold, Yu-Gi-Oh 5s Reverse of Arcadia, and a webcam. Both games deserve their own bullet points, but the webcam was pretty neat to try out, plus it was on sale. Ironically enough, they were delivered while I was in the garage searching for the C key from my laptop keyboard as mentioned in my previous blog entry... Now, I've never played a Yu-Gi-Oh game before (card game or otherwise), but the anime was always interesting with the twists and turns their card games took, so I figured "heck, how hard can it be?" Let's just say, whenever I manage to win a duel, I feel like the smartest freaking person on the planet. I haven't gotten very far yet, still getting my bearings as a duelist, but it's pretty fun, I have to say. Some of the subtler rules are a little hard to understand and it seems that sometimes the game picks and chooses when certain things apply, so to that I say, screw the rules, I have money (and a million nerd points if you got that reference or even care about this bullet point ). On Monday the 26th (yesterday), I got all four wisdom teeth out. So yeah, I've really gotta stop starting my summers with surgery... Still recovering from that (my face is already pretty swollen) and I'm excited for when I'll be able to eat solid food again. And rest assured, once I'm recovered sufficiently, I'll get around to doing the last chapters of my comedy. Speaking of which, the entries for the Comedy Contest have been posted and yes, I have entered. I'm intrigued to see how I do in this contest, given that I can no longer rely on the crutch of my reputation as I have been able to in past contests. I'll give you a hint as to which one it is, though: mine's the one with the Bohrok in it. And lastly, Pokémon has been fun. If there's any region I played to death in my younger days, it was Johto. Quite a few bursts of nostalgia going through this game, though, and I do like how your Pokémon follow you around. As I type this, I have just beaten the Elite Four for the first time with the following team:
Ampharos Lv.45 (Discharge, Thunder Wave, Focus Blast, Signal Beam)
Poliwhirl Lv.44 (Waterfall, Wake-Up Slap, Hypnosis, Belly Drum)
Togetic Lv.44 (Extrasensory, Magical Leaf, AncientPower, Fly)
Forretress Lv.45 (Bug Bite, Payback, Explosion, Spikes)
Mamoswine Lv.45 (Ice Fang, Avalanche, Earthquake, Mud Bomb)
Typhlosion Lv.45 (Flamethrower, Swift, Lava Plume, Defence Curl).
And that is what is new for me.

Simple enough entry. Should I re-post my old content?

Is that the done thing? Is this hip and with it? Is that what all the kids are doing?

Obviously, I've got a few things that a probably best left in the mists of Internet obscurity, but I've got a fair bit of content that I'm still pretty proud of. Tell you what, if people request it, I'll re-post it.

Incidentally, if anyone happens to have an archived copy of chapters 14 onwards of the spoof I did of The Legend Reborn, I would be eternally grateful if you could send that my way.

tl;dr What old content (if any) should I re-post and does anyone have a copy of The Awesomest TLR Spoof?
  10. SPIRIT
Yep, it's time for me to once again use this blog for the intended purpose of all blogs: to passive-aggressively rant about minutia in every day life.

Today's topic: people who drink loudly.

Everybody drinks; if you didn't, you'd be dead. Whether you're drinking water, soup, coffee, juice, pop, or what have you, for the love of all things liquid, COULD YOU PLEASE DRINK IT QUIETLY?!?!

SERIOUSLY! How hard is it to ingest liquid without slurping it loudly, gulping it down loudly (especially the gulping!), then letting forth a loud sigh of relief before slamming down your cup, waiting a few seconds, and starting the tortuous process all over again.

I mean, it's not acceptable when you eat. You'd be thrown out of a restaurant if you ate your food by saying OM NOM NOM NOM NOM. It's rude and disgusting is what it is and I won't have it.

What's worse is people who do this in tests and exams. Excuse me, but in case you haven't noticed, this isn't a who-can-drink-the-loudest-contest, IT'S AN EXAM WORTH AN UNFAIR AMOUNT OF OUR MARK AND IT'S REALLY HARD TO REMEMBER MY LAST-MINUTE CRAMMING WITH YOUR OBNOXIOUS SLURPING, GULPING, SIGHING, AND SLAMMING RIGHT IN MY EAR.

So please, spread the message about drinking as quietly possible to everyone you know or I'm going to lose it. Tune in next time when I rant about people who put random songs blaring in the background of Internet videos for no apparent reason. Pro-tip: if I have to hit mute to watch your video, you've done something wrong.

Also, I'm still not posting yet.

Just after I post something in my blog to say that nothing of interest happens to me, something happens. Yesterday was the longest day I've had in some time. It started off around 7:00 AM where I woke up early so I could get ready and go on BZP before my final driving lesson. After 10 sessions, I'm kind of sad to be done with it, in a nostalgic sort of way, but it certainly gives me a lot more free time! That day was also the first time I was let onto the highway (which is legal as long as you have a certified driving instructor in the passenger seat). All in all, it was a very stressful experience that I think will only be served poetic justice if I show you what it was like using emoticons as visual aids.

SPIRIT is happily cruising along at about 60 km/h:

His driving instructor then tells him it's time to go on the highway:

He descends the entry ramp at about 40 km/h, the highway coming ever closer:

He reaches the merging lane and notices that at the rate he's going, if he doesn't bring up the speed fast enough, he's going to crash into the bull nose:

Desperately, he floors the gas and goes from about 50 km/h to 100 km/h:

Two minutes later, he pulls off of the highway and back to regular streets:

So yeah, like I said before, pretty stressful.

In the afternoon, I went to my church to help set up for the Christmas dinner. It really only involved me setting tables and passing things from one person to the other, but I had some exciting moments: like when I had to open juice cans with a broken can opener (ended up opening my hand instead :annoyed2:) and when I had to squeeze about 20 slices of cheese cake on plates into a fridge (not as easy as it sounds). After that, I pretty much acted as a waiter and a dish cleaner (once again, just passing dishes from one end of the kitchen to the other) until 9:30 when we were finally finished. To celebrate, some of the other youth helpers and I went to Deck the Halls and called it a night at about 12:30 AM. As far as Christmas movies go, Deck the Halls wasn't that bad. It had Danny DeVito and Matthew Broderick in it so that certainly helped the humour along.

Anyway, after this long day, I slept about eight hours that night and then had another half hour nap today so hopefully I'll be awake enough to survive another week of school (only 2 weeks left!).

Oh yeah, I also got 100 % in BIONICLE Heroes today.
  12. SPIRIT
Have you ever met or seen someone who looks like, sounds like, acts like someone else you know? It's freaky, isn't it? Especially that brief moment where you suddenly realize why they were so familiar.

I imagine this is how LEGO minifigs feel when they see a certain minifig face reused.
  13. SPIRIT
I had a bit of free time today and so I went to open up the Word document containing the rough draft for my script for PSA 5 only to let out a girly shriek of horror.

THE ENTIRE FOLDER WAS GONE!!!!!!!!!! :OMG:

Yes, sadly in my attempt to increase space on my computer by moving all my personal files to a thumb drive, my production folder for the PSA was somehow lost in the process. I have downloaded program after program to sift through the files that have gone beyond the recycling bin to no avail-- that folder is gone forever. This includes the lyrics and music for both songs, the half started script, and the intro animation. Now they are all lost in the dark abyss of forgotten files...

Luckily, though, I have a pretty good memory for lyrics (especially ones that I wrote), I still have the music for the songs elsewhere, the animation is not impossible to replicate, and the script probably needed an overhaul anyway.

So yeah, things have been set back a little, as you might imagine.
  14. SPIRIT
    ... mais encore si loin...

Well, a few weeks ago, I asked LEGO to send me the March-April issue of LEGO Magazine and today I got a large caramel envelope from Enfield, Connecticut. I opened it up and inside were the LEGO catalogue and the missing issue of LEGO Magazine. So I quickly skipped to the middle to get to the comic, only to find that I had not quite gotten what I had asked for. At the top of the front page were the words, "BIONICLE LA BATAILLE POUR LE POUVOIR".

:annoyed2: LEGO had sent me the French version! Now, I can read French alright, but come on!

It was kind of interesting, though, to learn the French terminology for certain BIONICLE things as well as strange translations that were made.

The Brotherhood of Makuta is "La Confrèrie de Makuta". The Great Spirit is "Le Grand Esprit" (which is odd, since the French version of Legends of Metru Nui says "L'Esprit Divin"). The word they use for "rider" (in reference to the corrupted Matoran) translates to "jockey". Shadow Leach is "sangsue de l'ombre" (bloodsucker of shadow) A Tridax Pod is "une nacelle Tridax" A lightvine is "une vigne lumineuse". Chirox calls Vamprah his boyfriend. Skyboard is "planeur céleste". Understandably, because it's in French, some of the snappy dialogue doesn't really translate. Oddly enough, there's no Treespeak in French, who knew? However, Lewa still says "Héros Toa" without the hyphen, so I guess it was just a lack of understanding on the part of the translator, Jocelyne Vrzovski.
So maybe I'll ask for an English version of the magazine if I have time, but clearly someone over in Enfield needs to brush up on their Canadian geography.

Hi, friends. Do you or someone you know have the mini CD that came with Nuhvok-Kal? Would you like to help your favourite Reference Keeper with the BIONICLE Reference Center's Pronunciation Guide?

If you said "yes" to both of these then SPIRIT needs your help and would really appreciate you PMing him for more information.

If you said "yes" to the first one and "no" to the second then you are a cruel and heartless human being.

EDIT: I don't know what's on the Rahkshi CDs, but if they have the narrator guy say "Pakari" and "Onua" or even "Onu-Koro" they'll do just as well.
