As amazing as the mangai canonization is, at the moment, it is incredibly devisive. If we have a specific plan, as I have said in many posts, it'd probably go smoother. So, since I want to not just throw out ideas and not be helpful, here's my proposed plan:

Each step should have a run time of exactly one week to the minute. I know it will take a long time, but since gen1 is over, it could take years and be okay. Also, instead of being regarded as a group, to ensure consistency the toa of ice will be arbitrarily given a number

    STEP ONE:
-Poll to determine mangai with the Kakama (to make sure it is defined early)
    Options:
    -Toa of Ice #1
    -Toa of Ice #2
    -Toa of Ice #3
    -Toa of Ice #4
    -Toa of Stone
    -Toa of Earth
    -Naho

    STEP TWO:
-Discuss with Greg as far as what masks need to be eliminated from the list of kanohi

    STEP THREE:
-Select a toa via a random selection process
-Decide kanohi via a poll (unless it is the Kakama Toa)
    Options:
-All approved kanohi, minus the Kakama and any kanohi used by another Mangai.
    -Unknown

    STEP 4:
-discussion topic as far as what TYPE of weapons this toa would use, based on previously existing weapon categories (Sword, staff, etc)

    STEP 5:
    -Poll to select weapon type
    Options:
-Those given approval in discussion topic
    -Unknown

    STEP 6:
-Discussion topic to select weapon ADJECTIVE (VINE staff, STONE sword, etc)

    STEP 7:
    -Poll to determine weapon adjective
    Options:
-Those given approval in discussion topic
    -Unknown

    STEP 8:
    -Select NAME of toa
    Options-
-Names of locations on Mata Nui
-Names of SOME tools on Mata Nui
    -"Unknown Name" option

    STEP 9:
-Repeat steps 3-8 until all Mangai have been addressed

    Thoughts? changes?

alright: for all non-star trek fans, the next blog entry will look like gobbledegook. for all star trek fans, the next blog entry will look like gobbledegook i just got a great idea last night, and i gotta get it all written down.

Well, i just bought the song colony 5 by Colony 5. it's very star-trekky. in fact, just about all i could think of while listening to it was star trek. it also contained the lines "we seek colony 5". now, the name of the band came from the ST:TOS episode "Charlie X". it was the location they where bringing the mega-powerful child...then, an idea hit me..."what, if to avoid going there, charlie caused the colony to be destroyed?" then, another idea hit me. "what if, when everything he did got fixed, what if they messed up, and Colony 5 was moved out into space?" i was getting really excited at this point. "What if, when the voyager was returning, they had on long-range sensors, and, upon envestigation of the sensor logs, they found the location of Colony 5?" then, i thought "what if Starfleet decides to send a rescue mission to Colony 5?"

Then, i realised something. This would make an awesome new series of Star Trek.

Then, i realised that probably won't happen, since the release of the 2009 movie.

then, i realised this was too good of an idea to go to waste.

then, i realised i would have to take it into my own hands.

It wouldn't be a TV show, more like written short stories (more long stories, about the length of a DS9 script). release about 24 stories a year, like in normal seasons of star trek, and have a run of 7 years.

and now, things i've figured out i should have for sure:

1:set on a Vesta class ship

2:Seasons 1-3 would be set on the journey there, making first contact with multiple planets. 4 would be on Colony 5. 5-7 would be returning home, with some of the colonists, and seeing what happened with some of the planets they visited.

3:the first officer would be of a species with a lifespan of 1000s of years, and, although he'd be 400, he'd look like a child, a fact that torments him do to some people's biases. he would have "taken his Kobiashi Maru test with Spock at ops"

4: there would be an Ensign B4 as a main character

    5:the captain would be human

6:Ambassader Picard would give them the mission briefing

7:possible visits of Q throughout the series

8:it'd stay 100% consistant with TOS, TAS, TNG, DS9, VOY, ENT, and all the movie's canon.

9:it'd occur at some point after when spock went into the mirror universe.

10:the individual stories would have the same quality of any star trek episode.

11:i'd write the first episode, and last episode.

now, i'm not the best writer in the world. so, perhaps, one of the biggest forums for bionicle in the world would hold this in the COT. and, we'd have Star Trek fans all over BZP subbmitting ideas for stories, and if accepted, they'd write the episode. it'd then be edited a little bit for accuracy, but still...

but, i'd probably head this. and, in my opinion, the best way for me to be 100% accurate and deserve that role, would be for me to watch every star trek episode there is, twice. at the moment, i've seen TAS and TOS twice. but, beyond that, i'm only halfway through TNG. i've never seen a DS9, VOY, or ENT episode. so, i probably won't be qualified until maybe a few years from now. and, i think i need to review Charlie X to be sure on my facts.

but, trekkies who read this blog, keep this idea in the back of your head. if we're good enough, we might be able to convince the writers of Star Trek to do something with this.

Sometime after we finish writers sign-up, we need to think up the characters. That's mine and your job. here's what i know for sure (but you can edit, if you see fit)

    1:a human captain
2:a first officer with a lifespan of thousands of years, aged 400, looks like a teenager, plagued by the biases of "a child unfit for command"
    3:Ensign B4
    4:a Chief Medical Officer
    5:a Chief Engineer

beyond this, you may add caracters to any position on the ship you see fit. i'm not saying "say your ideas now", just begin thinking about them.

and for the captain, CMO, and Chief Engineer, you can think of backstories and names of you wish.

our goal is to get a rough physical description, species, name, and backstory for each character. (i call the first officer, though )

it is called "Random Ramblings", and it has "Nerd" in the title, so, here we go

Think of the numbr .9 repeating. It is infinately close to one, yet not one, correct?

    time for some algebra.

    .11111... = 1/9

    multiply both by nine

    .99999... = 9/9 = 1

    another one.

    .99999... = x

    multiply both by 10

    9.9999... = 10x

subtract x (.99999...) from both sides

    9= 9x

    simplify, divide both by nine

    1= 1x

    1= x

told yah i was a nerd

Okay. When they first came out, Transformers and Spider Man were both kids products. Now, they're deep, dark, adult PG-13 Movies.

I know what's next. An R-Rated Movie about Elmo's Early Life, before he came to seseme street.

    Really, think about it

The next step is to have Writers. the basic idea is this:

People around BZP send in ideas for stories, in one-sentance to one-paragraph concepts. If we approve it, they have a choice: write it themselves, or have one of our writers write it.

There would be a rotation, and we will only accept 10 writers. This means, if we do get 10, and we do about 22 stories a year, absolute maximum you would have to write 3 stories a year.

    REQUIREMENTS:
*Must be able to turn a one sentence to one paragraph concept into a decent story
*Must be able to krank out a story in 2 weeks.
*Must be able to handle potentially heavy editing by myself and the Storyline Leaders
*Must have some concept of the plot of Star Trek

    TO ENTER:
Post in the comments section of this page. Either link to a example of your writing you have written on BZP (Story, or epic. No poetry, comedy, or comic entries), or post the example in the comments itself.

The Deadline is June 22, at 8:00 PM EST. This should give enough time to find a story you have already written, or type up a story you havent posted yet.

This will be judged by the Storyline Leaders, at their discretion.

So...In my return to BZP over the last 9-ish months, i've noticed things...thought of things...and i don't think those things belong in any one place on BZP discussion-wise, so i thought I'd vomit it here.

So...technologywise...BZP is and has been an incredibly well maintained site. I'm not bashing it. But...Am i wrong, or has not much changed tech-wise since bionicle first went down...? I was really supprised when i returned and found things so...the same...despite 5 years of technological progress.

Now, don't get me wrong...it works. it serves it's purpose well. And i get it...it's expensive to upgrade software and hardware on a forum. But...i've seen other forums. there are little things i've seen techwise that are just...better...on those sites.

We all love the site...some of us, if not most of us, have been here since G1...that's an extreme dedication to a site that's very rare. I know premier membership exists...but, to help the expensive upgrades that are available now, how many of us would be willing to at least give something? surely there's enough of us that'd be willing to do so to at least allow BZP some minor upgrades...perhaps a raffle, but with more expensive tickets and a WMKK as a prize...

Brain vomit #2...with those upgrades, one other change should come...I remember back during G1's time...and this made sense, by the way...content on bzp was compressed to a strict G rating, essentially...then, 2011 came, and I left for 4 years...when I came back, I can best describe it as "that's not 100% true anymore".

Not that that's a bad thing either...and it makes sense. the original g1 fans are now, for the most part and at the very minimum, in highschool. Some are even graduated out of college. We're older...more mature...and perhaps we need to acknowledge that.

What i mean: there's a lot of themes and topics within Bionicle that we've been prevented from discussing (for reasons that make sense since the site needed to be safe for children). But now that some of us are much older, I think that such a discussion should be allowed...referencing the S&T rules topic as an example...

other possibilities: Gender issues now evident in gen1, religious themes surrounding Matoro...I think you get the idea. Keep in mind: I'm not saying "Free for all"...There's a difference between "mature discussion" and "Immature discussion"...only stuff DIRECTLY RELEVENT TO BIONICLE would be allowed.

So...in order for this to be possible, younger fans can't be involved...i think this should be easy, if we upgrade the hardware and software. We'd just have to create a subforum for this discussion, but lock it off to not-logged-in guests, and members under 13 (or some other age, i don't know what's ideal legally or ethically). Obviously, such topics are open to rampant flaming...So, if a member gets particularly problematic, they would be added to a custom list of people "blocked" from the forum, either permanently or temporarily.

This could allow other changes as well...Perhaps the word filter, in some cases, would only be shown as filtered to guests and people under a certain age, or those who "opt in".

So...word vomit...obviously everything i said has clear downsides, and a very evident other side of the argument exists (hence why i left the whole rule quote above as opposed to only the highlighted section)..just wanted to throw these things out there. thoughts?

okay. In english, we have an assignment to read a bannned book. The library gave us a large selection, and we had to choose one.

Okay, on the surface, the assignment makes complete sense. Learn about why books are banned/censored, that kind of thing.

Here's where it begins to not make sense.

Here's two example of books we had:

    1:Harry Potter.

    2:The Martian Chronicles.

    ...

    What?

    I mean, really. What?

That is probably a mistake, or something, but still...

now, i need on opinion with this. if the general agreemen"yes", i'll proobably handle most of it.

now, going to have a colony return home requires a lot of space. one starship, carrying all those colonists? unrealistic.

now, there ARE, however, evacuation ships (or something along those lines) in existance. What if, the Nova-class ship is just the head of a small fleet? what if, we make it like DS9, in the sense where we have a load of characters that aren't main characters, but reacur a lot? each ship would have, like, 4 characters: a captain, a first officer, a navigater, and a helmsman. whenever more crew is needed, they would be called from the nova-class ship.

now, my idea is to have maybe an extra 5-6 ships. What does everyone think?

to start it, all you need to do is win once.

for this scennario, you won with scizzors, vs paper.

uncounciously, the next thing your opponent does is do something to defeat scizzors.

so, their next move is rock.

in other words, all you have to do is win once, then have your next move be what your opponent last used.

This algorithem has roughly 60-80% accurracy

an interesting question came up a couple days ago at lunch...

In an ultimate battle between the two, who would win: everyone in the Star Trek Universe, or everyone in the Doctor Who universe?

    My vote's star trek.

So...I have an album coming out on the 31st of august...you guys should totally get a copy off of iTunes and whatnot...or just listen on spotify, that's totally cool too.

So...Story that only BZP will understand...On the physical version, I have an interior booklet with a pixel art design, with a "wall" of pictures of things that have been important to me. So, I contacted lego about including a Kanohi Hau on said wall, and what legal hoops I'd need to jump through. Despite it being the most helpful and kindest response I have ever gotten from any customer service ever, the answer was an understandable "no". So, I renamed one of the (at the time) unnamed songs to be "941 Ways", and called it good XD

Decided i might come on here more often...Again, not at regular times, but it's still fun here.

now, to figure out how these new forums work...

Today in technolagy, we're beginning to work on stop-motion films. Basically, we're going to use some sort of 3D figure to make a video. Someone shouted out "can i use my brother's bionicles?" my teacher's response was "well, they're a little big, but sure, they might work." Then someone shouted out "didn't they replace it with hero factory?" his response was "they're basically the same thing."

    ...
    ...
    ...
    ...

    "they're basically the same thing"

    ...

I used to have sooooo much respect for him. kinda died there.

it's tonight. wish me luck. NO WAIT... wish i cause myself injury

and on colony 5, the 100 question test will now be 50, and i have currently 16 questions written. so, not volunteering YET...(although, stoney the rapter, you will be a welcome volunteer once i get everything up and running )

On my dorm door, I put a whiteboard, and wrote a message in Matoran saying "If you can read this, I want to talk to you". It's a longshot, but the idea was that if someone was able to recognize what the alphabet was (or, even better, was a dedicated enough fan of Bionicle to read it fluently), that was a person I wanted to get to know.

I was just informed that two of my RA's had made it their personal challenge to figure out what the weird circles on my door mean. They have apparently spent the last three weeks trying to crack what it says letter by letter.

They managed to do it. They still don't know what alphabet that was.

    I'm amazed and stunned.

A while ago, someone in my school found a snake in their backyard. So, they thought my science teacher would like to see it. But, while he was on the bus, it got loose. they stopped the bus. took them a while to find it, all the kids freaking out (this was not the bus i was on, so i only have secondary sources on this). then, he brought it in to science. the teacher loved it. he escaped again.

the snake is still somewhere in the school, it never turned up. wow. and this was 5 to 6 months ago.
  19. JMSOG
So, this might not work for everyone, but it works great for me.

I recently figured out that I can fluently write in the matoran alphabet, and read it nearly fluently. Since I'm a college student, and happen to have a less-difficult class right now (It's a music history course, and the first 3 weeks have been mostly teaching the rest of the class basic music theory that I already know), I decided to test out note taking in matoran.

My memorization has skyrocketed. Because the letters are so complex, I'm forced to spend more time thinking about what it is I'm writing, which is the whole point of note taking anyway.

Plus, I'm a person who really doesn't like handwriting anything, but I've found this alphabet really nice to write with. I recommend it.

EDIT: the number 6 at the top of the page is the wrong way to write the number 6. I know.
