Transformers wasn't deep...or dark...or adult, for that matter. The first one was fun, but the second was immature and rather stupid.

Spider-Man, however, is deep, and often dark, and therefore pretty adult.

And how about Batman?

Yes, yes, batman too, really helps my point i mean, compare the Adam West TV Series to the most recent movie.

The Spiderman movies weren't that bad. There were scenes that were awful, though.

Last time I checked, Transformers and Spider-Man were not "deep and dark, depressing adult PG-13 movies." PG-13 yes, but nothing else.

And now, curse you, I want a R-rated Elmo movie, if only to see what the posters and trailers would look like and how all the parents of toddlers would respond.
