  1. Kai's edit is good. (matches Outline around Hapori with outline around text= win, although said border could be thinner)And the text could be silver. And the backdrop could be a lighter blue. And I could be dreaming. :)

Yeah, that border could be a little thinner. I made it that way mostly to match the thickness of the border at the websites' top as a whole. Don't know if it'd work better thinner or not; I'll have to try that out sometime. But the backdrop is actually transparent, so adding a "lighter blue" would just make it look out of place and ugly, unless you want to change the forum skin as a whole, but that would rid the whole blue-contrast thing this skin has going on and instead make the entire site a pale blue which isn't the best way to go.And the silver thing, as InnerRayg put it, isn't there on the skin and would probably clash more than mesh.(then again yellow really isn't on the skin either but it matches the gears and its small enough and does make it pop out more without clashing so w/e)
  2. I'm liking the banner being back; Tohu's reintegration into the logo was a good idea. But something's bugging me a little about the position of it...it seems a little off to me. I dunno, maybe an darker blue shaded outline around the logo or something would help?Something like this, maybe. Its an extremely slight edit, but still. (edges around the outline are a little blurry because I don't have that layer/font).

  3. Woah.Wait, you use Photoshop? Why not GIMP?

I've always found Photoshop more intuitive for both comic making and general computer art usage, especially when using hand-drawn artwork like Cal is doing here. Then again, I may just be biased since that's what I was taught with. I generally only use GIMP for JPEG compression and the Motion Blur Zoom.
  4. but the entry period ended today, unless of course you haven't updated your calender for a week and a half.

Brotip, man: If you're going to act like you know it all, make sure you actually do. ;-)Anyhow, are we still going to have the semifinal voting round if there are only a few entries? Or will we have one regardless?
  5. Question: What was the game programmed in?

Well, it does use the Unity Web Player, so I assume that it would be coded in something pertaining to that engine. As for me, my questions are as follows (I understand that not a lot of them will be asked because of time restraints, but they are things that I've found interesting and may be used as a last resort if you need more questions):
    • [*]Your company's portfolio seems to include a lot of games made for a younger demographic. What is something that really makes a difference when making a game for that age group? What made you want to appeal to that demographic?[*]How many people were initially there when you started your company? What was the hardest thing about starting the company?[*]You have worked on several other games for the LEGO Group before, including the BIONICLE games. However, Hero Factory: Breakout is the first LEGO constraction setline to have a fully 3D third person shooter. Was it your idea to move on into a more "complicated" game route, or did LEGO push for it? Would you be interested on continuing in the 3D route, in both future LEGO games and other games in general?[*]If a game has a glitch/crashing bug/etc., how do you get a "report" from the players in order to fix it? How soon do you get around to starting to test and fix it, and how often do you have to do so?[*]What do you look for in people that you hire? What are some personality traits that you consider invaluable in an employee?[*]How closely do you work with another company when it comes to making a licensed game? If money and time were not a concern, would you like to try and create your own creative property?

  6. This is just great. After all this time, alongside numerous delays and dramas, we finally did it. Me, Eljay and Var just finished up filming the final scene of the movie, and now all that stuff is behind us. Now we can unceremoniously pass all the responsibility to Var and blame him if this thing doesn't get released. That's over with. Now, back to Mass Effect 3...

  7. One week to go! Two entries so far...is three weeks not enough? Is it because February is the cruelest month? Wait, that's April. Darn.Well, even if the turnout is small, the show will still go on, of course. This is only the first contest, too; lessons will be learned and considered in order to improve the next gig.In any case it's been fun for me so far, and hopefully for you all too hey wait why are you spending precious time reading my post; go work on your entries!

Er...I don't suppose I could add in my appeal for an extension too? I actually have been working on my entry, but it is taking a while getting used to this different format of storytelling and all. School has been crazy this week, really, with about four exams and all that good stuff, and while I know I'm not the only one doing school, some extra time to extend past the holiday next week (Presidents' Day this Monday) so I could work on it and so on would be awesome.
  8. I have this problem all the time on Internet Explorer, Firefox and Chrome, both when I use the buttons on the "dashboard" and Ctrl + I/U/B/etc. I'm not sure why it happens, but it can get pretty annoying at times. I get the second problem to, albeit on lesser occasion. I'm assuming its just a bug with this version of InvisionBoard, but I also have seen other forums that run the same software yet do not have the problems that I experience here. There is also a possibly unrelated problem in which the font/text color will switch/turn off when you use the arrow keys to navigate paragraphs. Another common fault is that it will look like it is properly formatted, but after you hit post it reverts to the default font.(ironically, i just got that new paragraph backspace when typing this post. interesting.)EDIT: (double irony; that middle paragraph fell victim to the "looks properly formatted but reverts after you hit post". and another new paragraph backspace error while typing this edit. triple irony, perhaps?)

  9. See, I almost had it made. I found a style like this on (ahem) some other place and the internet and was all like "Oh! That's cool! I can do that for BZPower!"And then you had to go and steal it from me. The round heads, the little beady eyes, the square bodies, the stick limbs, the whole shebang. You idea-thief you. =PBut I have to say, this was extremely well done. And I mean that by every sense of the word. The text is well done, the colors are nicely saturated, the paper-like look like is a very nice touch, and overall I have to say this is looking up to be one of my favorite series of the year. I absolutely love where you're going with this, and I cannot wait to see more. Now I just need to find a new style for my comic series. Oh well. =PEDIT: On another note, this topic is #3333 in the forum. Very lucky coincidence. =P

  10. Ah, then would we not have blizzards and such?Great to see work being done.Another question, you guys are using MNOLG as a story source for the tohunga movie, correct? And if so, will you include a lot of scenes from the game?

MNOG as well as the first BIONICLE books are what we're basing our script on, yes. As far as scenes from the game, since we're using it as a source there will be many similar scenes, although they probably won't be reenacted frame for frame, if that's what you mean.As for blizzards, I'm not exactly sure; my understanding is that parts of the movie will be CG'ed, so I would assume that if the script called for it we could either use a built in function or animate the blizzard in for a different effect.
  11. Point being, most fourteen/fifteen year olds that I know -and technically speaking I still am fifteen years old, but I'm so close to my birthday I consider myself sixteen- can think for themselves, and certainly by sixteen you've reached a point where you shouldn't need isolation anymore.

Just wanted to pop in real quick and address this: thinking for yourself does not automatically make you mature. Not alone, at least. Secondly, there's a lot of adults that aren't mature, and there's a lot of kids that are. That's why there now has to be a distinction between the two: being an adult doesn't make you mature, and being a kid doesn't make you immature.Where am I going with this? Mostly that saying that you think you can think for yourself is sort of like having the defendant be his own judge in his trial. I'm not saying that its not true, but that there's a pretty obvious bias there.(note that I'm sort of taking "thinking for yourself" to be more of a "I'm mature enough to do _______ because I can think for myself" sort of statement as insinuated from the other statements in your post. I'm sort of assuming you're not saying that "I can think" or "I think/question my parents'/teachers' advice/teachings/etc."; if you are, sorry, then yeah you can "think for yourself" in that sense, but then again, that's sort of a basic and common trait among teenagers in general and probably shouldn't be used as a basis for maturity level so =/).
  12. Hmm. According to the wiki, I don't exist. Who'd a' thunk it?....Hintedy hint hint......

You could always just join and write up an article for yourself. I think that's what most people do anyways. Or am I just the most narcissistic guy ever for doing that? xD
Honestly speaking, that's basically the truth. As a long time member and one of the few semi-active staff members on the wiki, I can safely say that its better to make your own article than depend on someone to do it for you. For one, the chance that someone will is usually unlikely, for two, they probably will only fill the barebones of the article at large. The best thing to do is to write it yourself.I understand that the formatting can be pretty hard to master, though. There's a couple of tutorials up on the wiki, but the way I learned was having three tabs open: one with the page that had something I wanted to use, another with the "edit" pane open so I could see the code, and then my own page in which I would copy all the code that I needed to make it work. Usually, if you have them side by side, you can tell what does what, so that should be a start. Don't forget to use preview, since that can help you work out all the kinks. And, as always, you can always ask the active staff (read: Ziko) for help. =P Seriously, though, me, Tav and Ziks generally know enough about formatting to help you with whatever trouble you're having; you can ask/leave a note on our talkpages/PM any of us (preferably me or Tav, since Ziks practically does all the work there at the wiki and moderates here on BZPower as well so lightening his load would be pretty shway of you guys). But yeah, unless you're insanely popular or something, you're better off making/editing your own article. Just don't create stubs; I have this allergic reaction to new article stubs that makes me both sneeze and press the "delete page" button within a week or two. =P
  13. Would it be allowed to entry for anyone arund the globe or only for US?

Anyone from any country may enter. You're fine.- 55555
Though I would assume that you still have to use English as the primary language for the comic, so keep that in mind.
  14. Hmm...I was looking over the sizes of several other comics and came to a realization: is there a possibility that the limit for each "part" of a comic be expanded? 1.5 Mb is a bit small, especially since you're talking about entries that are basically really long images. I understand that this limit is put in place in order to prevent gigantic comics from slowing down people's computers/discouraging them from reading all the way through, but it also can possibly mess with the timing and pace of the comic. Can we get a bit of an expansion, perhaps to 3-5 Mb max?

Edit: Oh hey, the limit has been expanded to 3 MB. We'll go with that. You can still split up your entry across multiple pages if you feel the need to make it run longer.
Yeah, my initial concern was that the pacing of the story might be ruined/lessened by spreading it over too many parts (since this is a mystery, the stories and by extension the comics will probably be a bit longer than usual), but now that the size has been upped its all good. Thanks.
  15. OOC:Okay, so we sort of got there pretty fast, but hey, time to move the story along, right? =PIC: [Orithath and Tobias][Gerudo Desert]The two approached the looming temple, their horse drawing up to the base."Well, here we are. Now, let's see how we can get in..."OOC:Hmm...I'm not sure if there should be a door puzzle or something...I'll leave that up to you, Blade. Also, mind naming the temple so I have a name to list in my fancy subtitle intro thing? =P

  17. Yeah, I'm planning on entering this one. Its the first comic in the home forum, after all. Now, what exactly is the violence/blood limit for this contest? Most mysteries center around murders and most murders are...well, bloody, and I'm wondering how far we can take it with this? Also, can we show this comic to others before releasing it onto here? And if we do release, can we get feedback, edit, and then submit?

  18. Ah, man, VeggieTales. The nostalgia...I was completely obsessed with those things when I was a kid. If there had been a VeggieTales fanforum (and if I could, you know, actually type) back then, I definetly would have joined it.

  19. IC: [Orithath and Tobias][Gerudo Desert]His companion silent, Orithath went back to pondering over the location of the Sheikah. The legends often pointed towards them as a race of shadows, able to hide and disappear at will. They were always connected to the royal family, and their symbol, the sharpened eye with a teardrop, was found in numerous artifacts around Hyrule. The most interesting of those artifacts was the Gossip Stones, who gave information to people that found them. It was from them that he discovered the location of the Wand, as well as the fact that a Sheikah was in fact in the Gerudo Desert. They were spread out through the provinces, and discovering two with those specific pieces of information was not an easy task, but it was indeed worth it.Now, back in the present, the hot sun was beating down on the two of them as they made their way across the sandfilled terrain. But the use of landmarks guided their way until they could vaguely make out the shape of what seemed to be a large structure off in the distance.OOC:By the way, here's the code for the banner:
