Last week, I took on the challenge of making a suitable Mata Nui MOC. I was motivated to use the new Stars armor. Please post!

Brickshelf is back up, and that means the long awaited return of Brickshelf finds! This one is a mini spaceship using System pieces and Nuva armor, etc. DaBlackCat always impresses me. His unique piece usage is always appealing to me.

As Brickshelf returns, I can finally post the MOCs of the Blogarithm Contest #1 winners. Expect them ... tomorrow, maybe? I may be out Christmas shopping all day tomorrow, but I'll see if I can make it happen anyway.

Shall I continue work on Mata Nui here?

Should I make it white and gold or black and gold? Should I use Tahu Stars gold Hau, or the gold Ignika from titan Mata Nui? I have Tahu and Gresh Stars. Which Stars set should I get next for gold parts?

About the replacement line, that is. Greg said in the Talkback of Doom that the new line will have the same building platform as BIONICLE. That means that we will still get BIONICLE-compatible pieces that hopefully are not too different in design. I don't know if I'll buy the sets from the new line. It depends on how much I like it. My hopes are that the new line is as robotic as the BIONICLE sets are, maybe something in the Throwbot/Slizer direction. But I stand with what I have said: BIONICLE can not be replaced.

I guess I should start positive, thanks to TLC for giving us Bionicle, in all of its forms. Way back in 2001, I made my first Bionicle set purchase, it was Toa Onua, and right away I thought that this new theme had some very unique parts. Parts that can be used in a million different ways, as such, my MoC works began using Bionicle parts. At first, I used what I had and quite frankly made and published some very bad creations. Looking back on them now, I am not ashamed of them, but I will admit they are ugly. Then one day, after seeing one of Cajun's masterpieces, I thought to myself wow, look what can be done with those parts. Ever since then, I would like to think my works have gotten much better. I credit that to both those who gave me feedback and my own perseverance. I took to Bionicle right away, in a time where all I knew was Space and Town when it comes to lego. I completely abandoned most of my system works. I saw what could be done with Bionicle, in both detail and scale, and I was blown away. Fully articulate giants, with customized weaponry and functions, this truly was the meaning of a great and alluring action figure. Then in 2005, I found BZP and I knew I belonged here. This was perhaps the best place where I could socialize, share and create with other Bionicle fans. I have met many great people here, and what made it all possible? Bionicle did. And so now it has been made official by those who created Bionicle, it will come to an end. My first reply to that is, why? Bionicle continues to sell well, which is exactly what the staff from TLC told me at Brickcon is the main factor in deciding which lego themes will continue. As an AFOL, I am clearly in the minority of the Bionicle fanbase, and I forwardly admit, I am not one who keeps up with the storyline, reads the books or watches the movies. I like and buy Bionicle for the wonderful part molds, style and potential of what can be made. Bionicle could have played itself out to its own end, as BCii pointed out. I feel that it has been abruptly and over-zealously discontinued for the wrong reasons. TLC seems to be taking its market for children into more television and license-oriented themes, rather than its own original theme. I fear TLC is becoming more pop culture and less TLC. And thats about all I have to say.

I have built an awesome MOC. It and the Blogarithm Contest #1 winners' MOCs will be uploaded as soon as Brickshelf comes back and not a moment later. In other news, I have hit 5800 posts. I wonder if I can give some to Brickeens to get him out of the Kal ranks.

new moc lol You're eating your potassium if you get why he's named Chiquita.

I'm definitely going to build Splash Mountain. It'll be nearly impossible to acquire all of the right parts to build the entire track AND house it in a proportionate mountain. Instead, I think it'll end up being closer to minifig scale. I'm working on the ride vehicle (in this case, a log) right now. It shouldn't be that hard, I just need to find the right parts to define the look of a Splash Mountain log. I'll likely need to combine Technic and System parts for this to work. I think the most challenging thing will be building the mountain itself. Think, when was the last time you've see a real, complex structure built from Technic and Bionicle pieces? Because of this, I'm scaling it down so there doesn't need to b so much detail. Well... -------------- EDIT: I take that back. It turns out that its VERY hard to build a Splash Mountain log. The one I'm building now doesn't look so good , but it'll work. It'll work, alright,

take that filthy aeroplanes this is the only pic you're getting for a week or two, my dad's taking the camera with him to Korea. (also check out the filename, it might help you understand the moc) (except that it won't) (I blame neuro for this incorrigible mental repetition)

An idea just popped into my head. GreenBioGuy posted a roller coaster MOC. Kudos to him. Anyway, being a huge Disney World fan, I want to attempt this roller coaster idea and take it one step further. I want to make Space Mountain, or perhaps Splash Mountain, or Test Track. I've been looking for track layouts online. So far, I think Space Mountain would be the hardest, because of the cramped nature of the attraction. Because it's all under one roof, the tracks sort of weave all over the place. I'll see what I can figure out. I'm trying to figure out how to create curves and turns in the track right now. Wish me luck.

I don't expect much out of it but I know I win anyway.

Yeah, allow me to blatantly advertise my entry to the BBC #56. This is the first BIONICLE MOC I've cranked out in about 11 months, so please don't hurt me. YEAAAAAAAAAH

Pikced up some GitD Acrylic paint at a Jo-Anns fabrics near me; tried it out on a white Pakari, 03 Lewa Nuva sword, and a Mahritoran dagger, and it's looking pretty good. Goes on transparent, but it needs about 4 coats in order for it to actually glow. First coat, it seems to all fall on the edges, which is a neat effect if you just leave it that way. I am planning to do a whole set of armor this way, the Ghost Walker armaments. Also, since my Faerie sword has the Druidic crescent moon motif on it, I'm planning on painting Oghamic runes onto the scabbard, as sort of a mystic thing. I think it'll look cool.
