Human Bonkles Dump

Bonkles has re-consumed my mind over the past 4 months. During that time I made too many fanarts.

I've had an idea for an alternate universe/retelling of Bionicle in an organic universe for a while, but I could never make designs I was happy with.

 

And no, it's not like Digimon Frontier. If it's like anything, it's Avatar TLA. Mostly because Avatar implemented the concept of elemental powers in such a natural way that I can't imagine them being used differently.

Toa are kind of Avatars themselves, if the Avatar could only bend one element, and there were 6 of them.

 

Don't wanna ramble too much, but I want to focus on the fantasy parts of Bonkles and not the sci-fi ones.

After the Rakhshi/Mask of Light arc, we go straight to Bara Magna. I loved Metru Nui, but having a 3 year long flashback really broke up the story's flow. I was lost for years, man.

 

Mata Nui's people are bright, colorful, and tribal. I tried to give each elemental region its own style of dress. Ta-Koro is Hawaiian, Ga-Koro is Fijian/Filipino, Le-Koro is Mesoamerican, Ko-Koro is Inuit, Po-Koro is North Africa/Australia, and Onu-Koro is Central Africa.

The Matoran of Metru Nui are based on some of the world's classical ancient cities.

 

The Makuta don't actually have physical forms, they're still clouds of shadow energy bound to a suit of armor. Both Gorast and Teridax are inhabiting the bodies of posessed Matoran.

Also I'm moving Gorast from Karda Nui to Mata Nui, because lack of females. She's Teridax's second in command and does his dirty work while he's still sealed inside the Mask of Shadows.

In contrast, Bara Magna is weathered and battered. Desert punk meets sword and sandal meets Dune, the Glatorian and Agori are mostly Greco-Roman inspired. Because they have no elemental powers, they have normal hair colors.

 

Hesta is a fan character I guess. Because lack of females, again. She was a Fire Tribe Glatorian before an injury forced her to retire. You can never truly retire on Bara Magna however, so she still offers protection as a living. She fought alongside Ackar in the arena, and she's someone of an "old flame" of his. dohoho. (and no, I don't really like Ackar as a character, I just thought it might be interesting to have a female warrior who is not only older, but of the "leader" element.) Her weapon is a spear topped with a Tuurahk staff head.

 

The Skrall are an Agori subspecies that has adapted to living underground, posessing infrared vision and low body heat. They have a somewhat hive-like structure, with each class specialized for different tasks. Their weapons and armor are carved from the sharp obsidian that lines the planet's caves.

And no, the women were not granted psychic powers by a Great Being. We are not even going there.
