OOC: Socialism, not Communism. There are plenty of government run companies, but they compete directly with private enterprises. The Stans got the message about buying it from the Astarian Office Of Foreign Affairs because all land deals outside the border are dictated by the government.

IC [standast]The ambassador expressed... rather deep concern regarding the banning of nuclear weapons. In Standast there was a parable of two nations, north and south, who made a deal with Torsona, the lady of chaos, over some arrows. These arrows were enchanted, so that they may never break and always hit their target, even if their target was on the other side of the continent. Torsona produced these arrows, and would give freely to either nation. Both nations came together and agreed that the arrows were far too dangerous, and neither would make them. After some time though, the northern nation went to war with the southern one, decimating their armies with the enchanted arrows. The two leaders of the nations met each other on the battlefield, and the southern one cried out, "why have you broke your promise?" And the northern one replied, "because you were moronic enough to make one."Point of the story being, Standast would not lay down it's nuclear project when Astaria could stab them in the back, or any other nation, even Standast's allies.OOCCurse BZP and it's derpish word filter.

OOC: Not that anyone has had sufficient Uranium to test that with. The Astarians noted Gamma Radiation's ability to go clear through most shielding, and their scientific community isn't sure of the specifics yet.Funny. IC [Forum]The ambassador was stunned, and asked if he had made some sort of translation error. The parable was to show that Standast would keep it's word, even if it meant its demise, while Astaria would backstab the Stans. Not that the Stans valued promises as nothing. And the ambassador was quite obviously straining to keep diplomatic, seeing as many a bloody feud had started over broken promises in Standast; promising something was a rather big deal, seeing as legally you could be killed for going back on it, which was exactly why Standast would not sign the agreement. They would follow it, and then someone would backstab them.

IC [Forum]"Yes, brilliant. If Standast is attacked by Astaria by nuclear weapons, we'll be sure to never deal with you again as we sweep up the radioactive dust that was our capital." The ambassador threw up his hands in a combination between a shrug and a 'I am now fed up with this' gesture. "Standast refuses to give up it's nuclear weapons program. I feel that the rest of Standast's allies feel the same. If you'll excuse me, I have other places to me."And with that, the Stan ambassador walked out.[Arctungaad]The city of Pontolis was in ruins. Between the extensive bombing campaign by the Aquileonese, the earthquake bombing of the catacombs, artillery pounding, and widespread fires, it was a mere husk of it's formal glory. The civilian death count was in the hundreds of thousands; the infrastructure was broken. The Coalition troops that occupied the city were surrounded by pieces of broken homes and the little remains of life that the city once housed. The cold winds blew through the city, the skies threatening to unleash a cold lightning storm, while the Coalition continued securing the region. By now the heavy fighting was at an end, with scattered pockets of resistance throughout the region, the main cities secured or leveled. It was a brutal campaign, but an effective one; causalities were minimal and, with the major resistance gone, the region now flew the Coalition flag.[-----]Death and destruction rained down around him. Smoke bellowed from the sky, waves of the stuff coming down after thunderous cracks, buildings around him exploding while bright phosphorous lit the night sky. Men and women screamed; drones buzzed by, their motors making it sound as if an angry hive of bees was approaching. Occasionally, a cargo helicopter would fly overhead, soldiers jumping out onto buildings, Varangian snipers shooting the enemy on the streets below. His commander, a tall and well built Aquileonese man, continued to bellow orders, his hands having gone long numb from the constant firing of his rifle. It was a methodical process, now. Load clip. Cock. Aim. Shoot. Rinse and repeat. He wore his breathing mask, the occasional spurt of cold oxygen coming in while the air outside was filtered. They moved from spot to spot, firing on the enemy, sometimes in the smoke, sometimes not.A crack of the air and a scream came next to him. He turned around to see the woman next to him, Stan like he was, laying down, bloody spilling from her shoulder. He yelled for help, but his words were lost over the booms of the artillery, the sound of jet engines, the great shaking that the bombs left. Somewhere far in the distance a great explosion of light and sound came, the signature sign of a fuel-air bomb being detonated. It was deadly and beautiful, though directly looking at it would leave a man temporarily blind. His attention turned back to the woman. He ripped a piece of cloth from his new uniform, then pulled out a small spray bottle every Stan soldier was issued. He sprayed it into the wound, the woman giving another scream as the harsh antibiotics fizzed on the wound. Then he applied his scrap cloth, pressing hard while he wrapped gray tape around it tightly. He checked her pulse, then listened to her breathing. It was shallow, but seemed steady enough.“I'm not going make it,” she said quietly. “I'm going die.”“Not if I have any say in it.”He pulled her over his shoulder, making a mad rush to the nearest shelled out building. He pulled her in, listening as a grenade went off somewhere close. He laid her down in the corner, clearing some of the debris while he searched the clearing smoke for the rest of his team. He realized with a sickening lurch that they were all dead. His eyes came across his commander, the Aquileonese man, laying sprawled against a wall painted red with his blood. He looked as though he had simply decided to take a break and nap a little. Even in death the man was arrogant.Cursing softly, in the midst of the sounds of soldiers screaming, of artillery booming, of death walking the earth, he heard rubble crackle behind him. Without thinking he turned out, gun in hand, letting loose a burst of three bullets. The Waalrusaan soldier caught them in the gut and legs, but not before the man got two bullets out. Both screamed as they fell to the ground, but he had only taken a hit to the lower leg. He drew his short sword, thanked the gods for it, and sent a heavy if offbalance blow to the man's arm, listening for the distinctive crunch of bones snapping. It came. He rose, feeling his leg protest, and put away his sword, looking at the sorry state the enemy soldier was in. Then he braced himself against a wall and kicked the man hard in the head.Throughout this all, though, he had been unaware of a fourth presence in the room. A blackness spread across his vision as pain came from the back of his head, sending him into a heap on the floor. He wrestled his way up against the wall, going for his pistol, but his hand never got the chance. A solid metal bat smashed his wrist, then both his knee caps. His vision was fogging over, but he looked up, finding a young Waalrusaan girl, no more than fourteen years old, holding the bat. She screamed something in Waalrusaan, something he couldn't make out. Then blackness came.

IC:The Astarian sat, silent, her mouth open, and one finger pointing as if she were about to say something. She seemed to think better of it, though, and retracted her hand. A moment later she'd produced a piece of paper and was writing on it, though she didn't say what it said. If anyone in the room read the language, the title would be clear; "Project Neutralization"

OOCFuns; Astarians are up to something.Alright, so I guess I should try to get the butcher's bill up. Since I derped and read Power's SAMs as stationary and not mobile, methinks Rover did lose his helis, though I doubt they'll make a similar mistake again.IC [Arctungaad]To combat the heat seeking missiles that came with portable SAMs, the Stan artillery had begun shooting modified magnesium-phosphorous shells, different shells exploding at different heights. The internals were rather simple, large chunks of the stuff attached to a parachute. They would drift around, acting as a floating flares.

OOCIL3 is going be a lot better than this, so I have no qualms with that. And, for future information, all these Coalition reinforcements that came in seem to of been after the Pontolis province was secured, so they won't be reflected in the bills. They will also assume that after taking the city of Pontolis that the Waalrusaan soldiers scattered, sabotaging roads and such before eventually retreating out of the region.

IC:Were this issue to have been discussed in the Forum, the new Astarian representative would certainly have agreed wholeheartedly.IC:Alessia Caliak stood behind her desk, her long brown hair, rather than flowing behind her, was braided and thrown over her right shoulder. Her eyes were glimmering, and her jaw slightly thrust forward. In short, she was furious.Across the desk, looking more like sixteen than twenty six, sat Astaria's previous Ambassador to the Forum, clearly very nervous."What am I supposed to do with you?" Alessia demanded. Before the younger girl could respond, she continued, "Two hundred years ago, a woman who had failed so badly as you would be expected to throw herself on her sword.""I didn't bring a sword." The Ambassador said, showing a touch of snark. Alessia, in response, reached under her desk, and set an ornately decorated saber on her desk. The Ambassador eyed it with a shred of fear."Do you realize that you may have permanently ruined our relations with the Stans?" Alessia demanded. The girl across from her nodded. "Do you realize that the very war I've been calling to stop, perhaps entirely because of your actions, may soon come to Astaria's borders? Do you realize that purely because of this, we may have the Stans raining nuclear fire down on Astaria in less than a year!?" Alessia unsheathed the saber, holding the point under the girl's chin. "As much as I believe it could satisfy the Stans, giving them your head wouldn't accomplish a thing. I'd be one diplomatic underworker the poorer. Get out of my office." Alessia sheathed the saber, replaced it, and began reading over a dispatch from the head of the PSI project as if the girl didn't even exist. She was gone when Alessia looked back up.

Name: Tenia(people called Tenians

History: Tenia is located in what is called 'The Rock'; few soil, but with so much ore that it isn't even funny anymore. The first settlers who tried to inhabit 'The Rock' failed, starving to death.

The ones who followed, however, are determined to survive. To accomplish that goal, they need to get lots of food. To accomplish that goal, they need to invent machines to make the few soil that exist on 'The Rock' fertile. To accomplish that goal, they need to invent machines to mine the ore, and to accomplish that goal they need to create tools to create the tools to create the machines....

Nowadays, Tenia looks like a chaotic mix of rural areas and industrial, constantly mixing neighboorhoods with industrial areas. In Tenia, it's considerd normal if you live next to an energy central.

Civil feuds are mostly solved with a 'who makes the best invention' matches instead of 'classic' duels. While this makes them pretty skilled with technology, they suffer with 'bloody' battles(wars etc.). And as a extra (negative) bonus, most outsiders (especially the less civilized ones) think they are arrogant snobs with an overblown ego.

Cultural traits: The Tenians are technologists at heart and probably the best. Most of their technology are more advanced then of the 'other' civilisations.

OOC: Gauss rifles fire a metallic projectile at very high velocities using electromagnetic coils to propel the projectile. Due to the power needed and the kinetic energy involved, they are impractical for infantry scale weapons, but improve when applied on a larger scale. The main problems with large-scale Gauss rifles are energy use (powering the electromagnets takes a lot of energy) and maintenance (the barrel will likely need to be replaced every ten uses or so).

11-1988 RYIC: The twenty thousand new troops moved to join the main force, fixing bridges and clearing roads from where sabotage had destroyed them. On their way, they were joined by the newly trained group of Sealgair. Who, being a much smaller group, were able to travel at a faster pace. The Waalrusaan special forces were engaged in some rather heavy firefights in their attempts to sabotage ammo dumps and other places of interest. Of course, they were not driven off from every single one of them, but they certainly did not have unilateral success. They were not safe even when they broke off and left, though. Fillion troops tracked them into the mountains, and even though they did not have as intimate a knowledge of the area as their foes, they did know the basic landscape and knew enough about this sort of thing to avoid being drawn into ambushes or caught by avalanches and other traps. The Iolar helicopter pilots were starting to be able to put into practice the missile dodging training that they had been undergoing as part of their normal routine. Anyone firing them had to see through the smoke from the flares giving the pilots enough time for them to dodge it and shoot it down with the nose mounted Gruin weapon. The Fillion representative at the forum said that they would not be signing the treaty as there were far too many possibilities of the usage of nuclear energy.OOC: Part fun fact and part explanation of why my guys have that edge in anti-guerrilla warfare.Gangs.Far from your average gangs though. You could think of these ones sort of like an IRA/Mexican drug cartel/mafia mix-up.Once relative order had been created across the lands, everybody started focusing on internal problems, and with a combination of more or less normal civilians, a police force that was willing to work with all of the more or less normal civilians and a fair sized military that now had nothing to do, most of the criminal organizations in Fillion were stomped out. Those that were left were either really lucky or very good at what they did. After a few more of them got picked off, the rest started to get more militarized in an attempt to survive, using guerrilla tactics and striking back from time to time. Since then it has been a rather vicious spiral with a lot of "Survival of the Fittest" thrown in.So yeah, I have super gangs. And no, I did not just come up with this out of nowhere. This has been floating around in my head for a while, i just never saw a place/reason to put it in the open.Edit: I'm not sure what kind of AA missile the Waalrusaan's are using here. The Javelin was not even test fired until 1993 and was only put into full use in 1996.
