My Prediction Has Changed.
C. J.'s injury has me convinced. The Giants are going to win the World Series in five games, and it will be no fault of their own. Throughout the postseason, the Giants have won by facing slumping teams. First the Braves, then the Phillies, and now the Rangers cannot do anything that sheer misfortune can't stop.
Unfortunately, that also means we have what is probably the most dull World Series of the past ten years. Never before do I remember a time in the last decade where such a mediocre team as the Giants has managed to catch every team they play in a slump. I, frankly, would rather have seen Phillies and Yankees again rather than this, because this is really what I interpret as cheap wins. In the regular season, I wouldn't care. In the regular season, you don't have an entire nation watching, but in the postseason, you ought to have better baseball than this. I'd much rather see a Yankees repeat, so long as they won it by simply being a fantastic team, than to see a team like the Giants win simply because the other team got tough breaks like the Rangers have, or if the other team fell into a slump like the Phillies.
I am seriously considering not watching the World Series for the first time. It just is a pain to me to watch it happen. Even so, you folks in San Francisco enjoy it. Even so, if the Giants do win, I hope they do it in seven, so that Wilson's injury doesn't matter.
