So Lego is asking us for our ideas for new Lego themes, right? before you know it, the topic is swamped with ideas.

How many of them are original? and age appropriate?

I've looked through all eight pages (at this time) in the topic, and I see several ideas repeated over and over: Half-Life 2. Halo. Transformers. Nintendo. Some of which are not age-appropriate.

Are we really thinking about new ideas? or are we just suggesting what video games, movies, and TV Shows we'd like to see made into sets?

Some of the ideas, like Mythology and Steampunk, are really good ideas. But I'm getting tired of the same things being repeated over and over again.

Stargate? the original ended 3 years ago, and I haven't heard good things about the latest series. It's also aimed at older people.

Halo and Half-Life? Definitely not going to happen.

Honestly? can we get more original ideas? I don't think LEGO wants to hear about what TV Shows would make good sets (Ed, Edd, and Eddy? SERIOUSLY?) They want to hear our original Ideas. Remember what you did with your LEGO Bricks. the stories you made.

LEGO has been about creativity for years. for creating new stories. for exploring the unkown. Let's create new adventures, instead of re-releasing old ones. Let's be original, instead of suggesting someone else's work. Use the characters you remember to create new stories, or make your own characters. Don't just suggest a story already popular today because you like it.

Be Creative. Play Well.

Mega Bloks did Halo. I guess their policy could be different, but still...

I think they did it better than Lego could anyway, TBH.

Well, the Nintendo one should be pretty darn age appropriate. =P

But I kinda do agree; even if I pretty much did the same thing. >>;

But while I have some good ideas; I don't know if they'd take actual storyline ideas.

But the age appropriate thing does come into play.

That's what happens when you ask people on the internet for toy ideas. :P

Although Nintendo theme is major want. ;-; I didn't suggest it for some of the reasons you described here, though.

Newsflash: Indiana Jones. Pirates of the Carribean. Star Wars to a degree. What do they all have in common? They were made for teenage-to-adult audiences. It just so happens they did quite well among the young ones as well.

It's not a matter of whether LEGO can market it quite well, it's a matter of would it sell. I personally think it'd be worth investigating whether LEGO Half-Life 2 would work. I know for a fact they'll never make anything Sci-Fi related until the Star Wars contract ends. It's a matter of what would sell well.

And if not HL2, what about LEGO Portal? That'd be fun to build. I could imagine 20 decent sets already, one for each "official" chamber.

I agree that people are saying some useless ideas, but hey, someone from LEGO is asking about a new theme, you have to expect people shouting themes they would like whether it's age appropiate or not.

Some of the ideas, like Mythology and Steampunk, are really good ideas. But I'm getting tired of the same things being repeated over and over again.

LEGO's not going to listen to our ideas if everyone says a different idea. A load of people backing up one idea is how we get LEGO's attention.
