Okay, executive decision.

Alright, I should know better than to try to play two Bionifight games and two Mafia games at once. But I'm not that insane as to throw hosting another game on top of it.   Mysterious G&T contest entry (???) coming March 14th, 2015.   Also, come toothpicks or high-water:   Categorical GregF Reference Update coming this Friday.

Everything and Nothing: The Updates and the Madness continues

Yeah. Right now I'm playing a Bionicle RPG and two Mafia games (technically, I'm down to one since I just got killed in it ) and am completely in the middle of a ton of other stuff at once. Which is kind of annoying. Hopefully I'm going to start finally closing these.   1. I started reading the BZPower Expanded Multiverse due to being slightly ill last weekend, but didn't finish reading. I got the beginning of Sticks and Stones and fixed the reference topic (why do I always end up doing those t

Dragging the blood out of the computer

No, the i7 hasn't crashed. Yet. I think it may be on its way down, though. It took me five minutes to boot it up yesterday. I'm pretty sure Dropbox is to blame - for whatever reason, that program has decided to be a colossal resource hog. Since that's just the capstone on my Dropboxing grievances, I've decided to give it the boot.   After researching the alternatives, I'm switching to MEGA. It has enough space for my ever-sprawling system of folders and files, so I can put everything in there in

BBCC #69

The Potoo has more class than this, so honestly I'll leave it at that. I'm pretty sure anyone can make a better MoC than this.   TBH I don't like humanoid MoCs that much, because they are like drawing people - the hardest to get right. But for some reason this idea wouldn't leave me alone, so I just...did it.

The metaphor

The old professor of logic and reasoning walks into his classroom. It is late, and the students are assembled, waiting for class to begin. The bell rings, and the lecture begins.   [insert bones quote here] He drones on for a long time, writing on the old chalkboard in front of him. Time and time again he has done this.   "But this isn't so." one student says, raising an objection. Ah yes, but the old professor knows the student's problem. He must address this problem the student has, or he woul

Quick Set Reviews: 2015 Bionicle

Tahu:   I've already mentioned my thoughts on him - he's a bit stiff and arthritic, and his model reflects his age. Might be disappointing for some kids who saw him do all the flips in his character video. Still, he's a tall and regal model, and reflects the traditional view of Tahu.   Pohatu:   Pohatu fails on price-per-piece, but he makes up for that with sheer amazingness. The return of brown and the slick molded weapons are more than enough to justify the higher price. He has the same ches

headache.

So I got wind of a horrible situation - one of the classes that I was going to take next semester was canceled.   They told me two days before classes start.   Worse, I had an entire degree riding on that one class. And if I didn't get that class, I had good odds of being shoved back into programming again. That is, if I could even get into a programming class...or any class...   Instead of trying to deal with my parents, I rode down to the college today to get help. I talked with the person wh

End of the line: 2014

Flashback I step into the scene There's you, and there's a very different me.   And that's 2014 for me. I started off this year as an almost entirely different person from what I am now. It actually feels like this year was longer than it actually was. And so many things changed. Was it really just last March that I got lifetime premiership? last summer that I took that communications class and got involved in teeth-clenching debates? this fall that I just finished all of that PHP? Was the foru

General Debate Advice (Non-people-speaker edition)

This is not intended to reference any particular debate - just throwing this out here for people to read, ignore, and then me to refer to it 500 times, and people still ignore it anyway. What follows is just advice I got from everyone else. None of this is something I woke up with. And frankly, if I were so inclined, I could write an entire book on all of the debating principles and observations I've noticed IRL and in BZP lands. More people have opinions on debate than actually anything else.

Theorize about me (AMA-style thing)

This game involves writing statements that you think are true of me, and I give you responses. So, for example:   fishers64 likes the color purple.   My Response: True.   fishers64 dreams of farm animals.   My Response: Unknown. I don't remember most of my dreams.   fishers64 likes liver-and-anchovy pizza.   My Response: False.   Go!

IRL: Taking a Risk

So for next semester I'm making a change. This semester, to put it bluntly, didn't work out so good. I've scrapped my original plans to take two programming classes and an English class and take two classes in actual web page design and a math class instead.   A math class that I have taken once, aced, twice, flunked, three times, flunked again. I have more notes on this one class than all four of my novel writing concepts combined. Calculus I. Seriously. If I can't ace this class for the second

Hero Factory RPG Interest Gauge/Feedback

I had planned to bring back the HF RPG after iBrow abandoned it and it died, but now HF is dead too. So now I'm looking to gauge interest and possibly get feedback for what you guys want out of a new RPG.   Here are some questions I'm looking to answer.   1. What is your interest level? (Please be honest. At this juncture, I'm not counting Yeses and Maybes and comparing them against a number - this is to gauge interest. Betweens are allowed.)   Yes (I'm absolutely going to play no matter what)

Pardon me for being so arrogant, IPB

Okay, so I knew that the post I was looking for in a certain topic had upvotes on it, so I decided to engage the rep filters. I figured if it was beneath the rep filter, it just wouldn't show it. Instead I got this:     Yes, that post was totally beneath me. Hmph. I don't want to see it ever again.

Fiction does not accurately represent X

People: In fiction, X doesn't have a right arm!   People: In fiction X does not come at the end of box.   People: This is a grave injustice against X. Because X can read that he only has one arm and no longer comes at the end of box, he may believe that he has no right arm and no longer comes at the end of box!   X: Look, you suckers. I know that I have two arms [wriggles arms], and I know that I come at the end of box. And all of my fellow Xs know that too. In fact, we're so confident of that w

Being honest and owning up to my mistakes

Recently, I wrote up a post, and some people were hurt by it. I do not mean to excuse myself by writing this. There is no excuse for what I did. Rather, I would like to explain precisely, calmly, and without shouting (bold is for emphasis, since this one is sadly long) - why I wrote that post, what I meant by it, and try, if possible, to heal up some of the pain that I have unfortunately caused.   The Post --> What I Meant it to Say That's post 7700066, which has unfortunately come to my atte

Dr. Cynic

So recently I sat down to watch the now-obscure movie Limitless (yes, that movie with Robert DeNiro and the unemployed writer). I was aware of the film's dark, cynical tone prior to watching, and fully expected the film to resemble a Work of Great Literature. Surprisingly, it did not fully realize its potential for depression, and instead opted for ick. I'm not sure which I dislike more.   This doesn't end my long standing beef against cynicism and the Works of Great Literature that teach it (

Categorical Greg Reference Stuff - Greg's Giant Robot Blog Entry

Going though my notes for the Categorical Greg Reference, I ran across this blog entry. Unfortunately, this blog entry has old-fashioned spoiler tags that don't work. I used the View Source command to reveal them. But that's clunky. So here's the post, minus 2-year-old spoilers.   I'm going to include it in my new reference, coming soon, but I need a source to run back to lol. So here it be.

A Quick Reflection on Elitism

:burnmad: !!!   (I include this quote to explain why I'm mad. It's from a discussion that I read over and over again, and it's in the archive and gone, so don't go looking for it. I remember that after this there were several lines about stuff bones knew because he had been around since 2001, and I started in '05 with '04 story.   As such, I might be overreacting a little.)     I don't claim the moral ground here. I could be really, really wrong, but there is nothing on this website that ticks

Inspiration is a funny thing

Pic links to topic.   It's kind of a weird way to do comics, but in this case I think it works. Feel free to complain about me breaking sacred traditions. All feedback is welcomed.

Lego is a set company

Well no dur. The priority of TLG has always been plastic toys, yo. But it is particularly evident here.   I have to say, these sets for the new line are glorious. They put Hero Factory sets to shame. The thought of integrating gears/Technic into CCBS has been with me for years, and then Lego goes and does it. Someone has been reading my mind. Plus they do it in a way that's Technic and actually built, rather than just making a part that does it that I would have to get in stupendous quantities.
