  1. IC (Lour):Another deep sigh. "I wish I knew... But I don't have much to go on. I just know that it's the second Vorox this year, an' the conditions are the same as last fight... the Pit of Sand, no breaks for water, no rounds, no-holds-barred... But with one difference..."They want this one to be a fight to the death." The second glass was drained, another refill on the way. The last one, unfortunately; the contents of Lour's satchel just about covered three glasses of grog. As Lour nursed his last glass, he looked at Kaithas and gave an unusual expression: a weary smile. "Help? It's a bit late in the game for the universe to be offerin' me that, don't you think? Those promoter types will always give me the creeps, an' this scheme... I'll figure it out one way or the other. Jus' gimme the drinks when I pay for 'em." It was a rough parting statement, and a little bit rude; Lour tended to be, even when tipsy. But there was a kernel of appreciation there, somewhere; and as the cloaked giant lurched off his stool, out the door, and back into the wider world, his steps were appreciably lighter.OOC: 'Night, all, and happy new year!-Shyyrn
  2. IC (Lour):"That ain't the point, Kaithas!" Lour snapped. He leaned in towards the Toa, and Kaithas could make out the Glatorian's face within the cloak-hood: prematurely aged, with dark brown eyes that spoke of past anguish. And his breath was already starting to smell of the citric grog he was consuming; it was one of the strongest drinks in stock."Kaithas," said Lour, his tone suddenly lower and urgent, "I'm not afraid of dyin' at the claws of a Vorox. Far from it; I know what I can handle. It's just... other things about the set-up those vipers are tryin' to sell me that I don't like." -Shyyrn
  3. IC (Lour):The same right hand fastened tight around the glass, and lifted it to the maw of the cloak, before tipping the liquid into the waiting mouth. Down the hatch it when, in a single gulp, before the glass was brought low again, empty and expecting its imminent refilling."I have no friends, Kaithas. Only business associates. And I wanna near nothing from those demons today," Lour replied. "They have me up to my neck again, an' I can't wiggle free. They want me to fight another one.""Another... what?" Kaithas asked. For all of Lour's intimidating presence, the bartender was surprisingly unafraid to ask the question: he had heard Lour vent about his "career" before.Lour sighed, the rattling sound of a weariness felt to one's bones."Another Vorox."-Shyyrn
  4. IC (Lour):With a creak, the door of the Jaga's Sting opened; with a bang, it slammed shut. In the interim, a cloaked figure had slouched into the bar and taken a stool. "Citris grog, and lots of it," a heavy voice spoke from beneath the cloak hood. The large black garment obscured the being's entire body from view; no hint of species or armor color was visible. But one characteristic immediately told Kaithas who it was: the hand that buried into one of the cloak's pockets, pulling out a satchel of widgets; the hand that plopped the satchel on the bar, then forced it open, then picked it up to pour out its contents (all of them, to the last coin) on the wooden surface. It was the right hand... and only the right hand. And Kaithas immediately knew the repeat customer who had once again come back to his tavern.OOC: Would it be alright if Lour frequented Kaithas's bar, and they had a good rapport, but Kaithas kept Lour's patronage a secret from the world at large? XD-Shyyrn
  5. Name: Lour Gender: Male Species: Glatorian (formerly Ice Tribe) Kanohi: None Appearance: Clearly athletic and powerful, Lour is head-to-toe grey and silver... except for the stump where his left forearm should be, which is bright red. His eyes are a moody brown, which fill with a glowing intensity while in the middle of a fight. When he is in a match, he wears his trademark golden armor, which is moderately heavy, though clearly prioritizes speed over durability; when not fighting, he is surprisingly formal, usually wearing a full grey suit with a white shirt and sky-blue tie. Powers: None Weapons: For his matches, Lour's favored weapon is a staff, which has a Thornax blaster attached to its end. When not in the ring, he carries a Zamor launcher, the spheres filled with a paralyzing gel; the launcher also has a bayonet at its end. Abilities: Having lost his left arm from the elbow down many years ago, Lour has almost thoroughly learned how to manage his day-to-day (and professional) life with just one hand. Very few situations throw him anymore. Adding to this is his long history as a professional fighter; he is more than proficient at armed and unarmed combat. Weaknesses: Though he has managed to circumvent many would-be shortcomings from having a missing arm, there are a few things about his condition even Lour cannot control. In many situations, his balance is compromised; he is also unable to hold more than two weapons at once. Occupations: Professional arena fighter at an arena in Ga-Koro-Nui. Personality: Lour is unsocial and dour, and hates working with others. History: A trainee Ice Tribe Glatorian in the days of Bara Magna, Lour lost his left arm below the elbow while fighting Rahkshi in the final battle against Teridax. When the dust cleared and the battle was won, Lour was at first stricken, unsure of how to continue his life. Through determination and self-discipline, however, Lour was able to remain in shape and continue fighting. He now fights professionally in the Wreckspace, one of Ga-Koro-Nui's larger professional arenas, and is one of the biggest names in the scene; a single showfight by the golden-armored 'One Arm, One Victory' warrior can net thousands of spectators, and hundreds of thousands of widgets. -Shyyrn

  7. OOC: Whoops. I saw Levacius's post, where Waorya was looking back at the battle, and assumed you were still close. :/Well, in that case...IC (A short distance from the Ta-Wahi battlefield):The two Matoran staggered and cursed, struggling to bring their instruments to bear despite the heavy winds... to no avail. By the time they had reset, the Toa were off, two distant running silhouettes (well, one running and another being dragged) disappearing into the jungle. The junior of the two soldiers, turning in desperation to his senior officer, said, "Sir! They're getting away fast, but I could still take them with a good scale!"The officer, however, slowly shook his head. "No, Sentyx, leave them... This battle is over. The Dissonance is routed. Let them struggle back to their base and tell that rat Discord how badly we music-players walloped them; the blow to their morale will probably be better for the war effort in the long run."Sentyx bared his teeth in a fearsome grin. "Yes, sir! Anything for the war effort!"Dennix gave a similar grin. "Good. Now, let's get back to the rest of the force! After a victory like this, Taxuth will want a word with his force... And you know one of Taxuth's little speeches is never worth missing out on..."-Shyyrn
  8. IC (Ta-Wahi battlefield, random act of co-GM ( )):Waorya and Atonal's conferring would have continued further, were it not from some intervention from above.A skittering wave of flame struck the ground just left of Atonal. Though it didn't harm either Toa, Atonal shrank away from the extreme heat."Those two to the sides... They must be Dissonance! ATTACK!" came the shout from the pair's left; and as Waorya and Atonal turned, they saw a pair of Ta-Matoran xylophonists barrelling towards them, ready to strike...OOC: I won't be on much tomorrow, so if I'm not here to direct these two adversaries, you can decide their moves and eventually beat them... but keep it fair!-Shyyrn
  9. Yes, Levacius's character. I let him have it because, despite being an especially powerful individual, his character is not aligned with anyone; as such, I rather expect her to be an agent of chaos more than someone unfairly influential in the game's progression.-Shyyrn
  10. It is NOT a free-for-all! It is very much a Tribes of Rhythm vs. Dissonance battle!...However, the lines are blurred due to the excessive number of neutral characters in the fray. X(-Shyyrn
  11. @Tyler Durden: There's a massive battle going on in Ta-Wahi: the six Koros versus a Dissonance strike force, not counting some neutral characters' interference. Beyond that, there's a few small meetings/skirmishes in other parts of the island.Concerning the Manas: I don't think letting him join a faction is a good idea. It would give that village an unfair advantage. :/-Shyyrn
  12. OOC: Zakaro, remember our deal! Once the Nui-Jaga's done with the undead, it won't just go away quietly... You and Kuba have to get away from it, or send it away from you!-Shyyrn
  13. Maximus and Jotham are approved.-Shyyrn
  14. I kid, I kid. You are the Co-GM of Awesome. That's better! :PI think it would work, but remember: He won't have a lot of friends. The leaders of the factions will certainly oppose you, and will order out troops against you if you make yourself too visible. Individual PCs can make your acquaintance, but at their discretion, with the understanding that they will get in at least a little trouble if they're found out.-Shyyrn
  15. ...HEY!!!! You take that back! :nervous:A peaceful Manas would questionably work... provided most people will fear him on sight and try to kill him. Would he speak Matoran?Dubstep, though, would be a bit of a stretch... the island has nowhere near that level of technology. How do you envision your crab creating it?-Shyyrn
  16. Pokorix, Nizkholi, Quolski, and Sraine are now approved!Unapproved characters:*Jotham (Balta)-Shyyrn
  17. I'd just like to say the RPing is going excellently thus far! Well done, people! :DToD will have to come back to tell us all the next storyline movement, so till then, make the most of the battle!-Shyyrn
  18. IC (Fauwn, Ta-Wahi battlefield):Because of his furious playing, Fauwn was unable to speak back to Unov... but the fierce gleam in his red eyes was enough to tell Unov that whatever his decimation of the enemy ranks was classified as, he enjoyed it...-Shyyrn
  19. IC (Fauwn, Ta-Wahi battlefield):"You say that as if it were a problem, Unov," said a familiar voice. The tone was singsong, yet brittle, concealing a hard edge.Fauwn hoisted his instrument to his lips. "I will enjoy this," was all he said before he began, an elegant scale that sent a shower of notes into the Dissonance ranks...Fauwn's attack was all the cue Unov, Skyra, and Quwaro needed to start their own attacks...-Shyyrn
