Hapori Tohu
LEGO may not yet be done with the BAFTAs. After winning for best animated film, the nominations for the British Academy Game Awards have been announced, and guess who made the list. As you can see on the full nomination page, The LEGO Movie Videogame is nominated for best family game, going up against Littlebigplanet 3, Minecraft: Console Editions, Skylanders Trap Team, Mario Kart 8, and Twelve A Dozen. The ceremony takes place on March 12th, so we'll have to wait until then to see if it wins! View the full article Quote News Forums Q&A
ToaDraco
I am rather surprised by this. I found the LEGO Movie game to be the worst of the Telltale LEGO games. It wasn't terrible, it just felt mediocre. One of the strangest things in the game to me were the gender exclusive abilities. Overall it just didn't have that spark that the other games had and it's not just because the others were licensed themes. The movie on the other hand, was awesome and deserves every award it gets and more. Edited February 10, 2015 by ToaDraco Quote "Avengers? Fantastic Four? X-Dudes? Toa Smoke Monster
While its great that the game got nominated, I believe that Mario Kart 8 is going to win this. Takanuinuva
I feel that out of all the Lego games. I don't think the Lego Movie game should have been nominated. While it was fun. It still felt like every other Telltale Lego game.I think they could have added the custom level designer introduced in Lego Indiana Jones 2. That play mode would have made so much sense to be in the Lego Movie Game. I don't think its going to win. But I will be very surprised if it does. Quote I am Takanui Nuva. TheSkeletonMan939
Ew! No! It doesn't deserve to be nominated! The LEGO Movie Videogame was horrible. And for TT Games, that's really something, since all they have to do is change the character designs a little bit to match a franchise and BAM they've got a new video game. I'm surprised that there are so many voices criticizing The Lego Movie game. I haven't played it myself, but I do know that it corrected a common gripe about the other Lego video games (that being that many environments were non-Lego). Not saying that change would excuse other gameplay or storytelling faults, but it does go to show how priorities can shift once people finally get the thing they've been asking for. Not saying that change would excuse other gameplay or storytelling faults, but it does go to show how priorities can shift once people finally get the thing they've been asking for. The only reason that the environments were made of Lego this time around is because that's the way the movie looked. Lego Batman 3 had, and I'm sure Jurassic Park will have, realistic environments with Lego minifigs running around. The walk cycles were embarrassingly low-quality, and just goofy looking. The music was poor. Almost any real-time cutscenes were animated with the characters' faces away from the screen so they wouldn't have to animate mouths. You could tell it was a rush job. It was just badly done all around... even with my low expectations for TT Games I was disappointed. Luckily we're in an era now where video games based off of movies are becoming less and less the norm, and The Lego Movie videogame is an example why this trend produced so many abominable games. Of course, I wouldn't be surprised if the game in question sold very well... games based on movies, no matter how shoddily put together, almost always do. Nidhiki of the Shadows
Just a minor correction for like a majority of these posts but Traveller's Tale/TT Games. Telltale games is a completely different game publisher. Cool this got nominated! I've always wanted to try it out. Thought it was super cool that almost all of the components were made of LEGO bricks like in the movie. -NotS
