Sumiki
The Lightning is envisioned as the good guy, getting chased by the über-space-missile Purple Flame. The latter is possibly one of the only really good things I've ever built, the Lightning being more of a tablescrap to make the entire setup more menacing. | | | | | | | | Was at BrickFair 2011. Ehlekdude
Wow, Purple Flame is amazing! So is Lightning, actually. The scene is made very well, Purple Flame looks like it will explode quite a bit when it hits Lightning. Lightning is a really cool build, I like the engines a lot. 9.5/
Paleo
The Purple flame kinda looks like nuke, but that's not a bad thing. I like the Lightning's trilateral symmetry design too.Where'd you get the purple flame pieces? Quote Flickr
Sumiki
I got the purple flames years ago at a LEGO store in Orlando, Florida. They were in a free-for-all grab-bag that they've eliminated in years since, but it yielded the purple flames which, up until the creation of the aptly-named Purple Flame, were just sitting unused in a clear plastic drawer.I would have never have built this with regular flame parts, even though I have all the necessary parts in trans-orange. hey it's felix
I'm genuinely impressed! While I do love Lightning, Purple Flame just looks so dang good. I like the way you splayed the Skrall armour to make a sort of skirt at the end of it, really looks good. Some more flamework would be much to this MOC's advantage, though. It's huge appearance with the tiny flames at the moment is just too disproportionate, IMO. Dunno what you could do about that, though Seriously, neat stuff.-FtC Quote I have an old Flickr account here..Previously Feefeeri/Felix the Cat..I MOC sometimes
Sumiki
In reality, since space is a vacuum, a large source of power is not needed to make a ship go fast. That being said, I can understand if you think it's kind of puny, and there's only one real attachment point to link the flame parts together ...I might order some more purple flames and work a bit on this, but don't count on it. Peach 00
Purple Flame looks pretty awesome, as does Lightning. The black color of Purple Flame makes it kind of sinister looking, and I like the rocket booster effect you added to Lightning (yellow disk pieces). Just out of curiosity, though, where'd you get the purple flame piece on the back of Purple Flame? I've only seen ice colored or orange colored flame pieces, but never the purple piece you used there.Still, although this is kind of a short review, great job, Sumiki! Sumiki
The disk parts on the Lightning are trans-lime, not yellow. As far as where I got the purple flames, I answered that a few posts up - I got them years ago at a grab-bag in a LEGO store in Orlando, Florida. Peach 00
Sorry for the wrong word - I meant that, I just refer to it as yellow, even if it is the lime color. And lucky grab, those seem like rare pieces. I'd say make sure to not lose those, those probably are rare. Sumiki
It's not precisely rare - a quick check on LEGO-selling sites puts it at $0.225 as a low price for one individual trans-purple flame. So if I did lose a few, it wouldn't be the end of the world. Quote avatar by Lady Kopaka
