Simply put, I'm posting a blog entry because I can. I have no goofy reason, and I have no strange outlandish topics to discuss in a monologue.

I have been a member of this site for a good four years, and possibly five. My old account, which I forgot the password to, was here for around six or perhaps seven years. I am perfectly content that I've been a part of this site for so long, to have been a member of this community.

And yet, I have no regrets when I say that I am leaving. I do not want my account to be perma-banned, since a wave of nostalgia might wash over me once more. I have only come back to put a bit of fruitless effort into writing this, and for what purpose? Since I don't think having nearly one thousand posts (934 at last count) on a fan site dedicated to my childhood obsession will get me a job any faster.

In fact, I really wonder why I am writing this right now. I know that it may seem rude to those of you who have posted so many times, sharing your knowledge(or perhaps putting down a few words which barely constitutes as a sentence just to get your numbers up), but really, the hours I put into this site, pouring over many topics, creating my own, and struggling when I found I had broken a strictly enforced rule all seem wasted. That may not be the right word, but it is certainly close to what I feel like.

I know this may seem saddening to the longer standing members, and discouraging to the newer ones.

I am merely sharing my view, and you are free to make your own decisions.

Please, if you read this and feel the need to comment on something, PM me, I do not feel like getting five or fifteen or however many dollars so I can have blue text below my username and let people post 'official' comments to my blog entry.

To summarize: I am leaving BZPower, I do not want my account to be banned (Thank you, moderators), I believe my time spent running my fingers across the keyboard countless times was in reality wasted, and I want to hear your opinion of this via Private Message sent to me.

Just as a final note; I am not without humor, but at times, such as this, I can be serious. Again, farewell and thanks for all the fish.

Checking out the new Masks of Power trailer made me really nostalgic for my old BZP days. I really miss the huge community we used to have. I always say I'd like to come back into the fold, but I haven't committed yet. Bionicle has always had a special place in my heart though. Not to be dramatic but I feel like it really shaped part of who I am. After everything that's happened to me, through life and work and new relationships and long gone relationships and the discovery of my true identity, I am still a Toa warrior 💙💗🤍💗💙

I'm sick and tired of people telling me that they are the same thing. They aren't. From my example up above, surely you too can see the differences. Let me list for you some new or otherwise improved features from Windows Vista...

    * Windows Aero desktop theme. This is not only a new window decoration, menu, and icon theme, but also a 3D graphical enhancement that offers translucency and fading effects for windows and dialogues.
    * Improved data backup. Windows Vista comes with a framework for backing up important documents and data, or the entire operating environment, to removable media.
    * Live search. If you lose track of your files, this will help you find them.
    * Self-healing and shadow copy. Windows Vista can detect some kinds of errors and data corruptions and either correct them or roll back a file to a previously saved version. The same applies to accidentally saved files -- you can roll them back to a previous state.
    * Windows Fax and Scan. Improved faxing and scanning tools.
    * Windows Mail replaces Outlook Express. This modern email client replaces the notoriously insecure Outlook Express.
    * Improved configuration tools. Every facet of the control panel has been enhanced. Configuration tools offer more options and make configuring things like the sound system and network connections much easier.
    * Windows Defender security suite. This collection of anti-virus, firewall, and spyware removal tools supplants the need for several expensive third-party applications.
    * Internet Explorer 7 replaces IE6. One of the worst Web browsers in modern history gets a major overhaul, including vastly improved JavaScript and W3C standards support, and dynamic security protection that helps stave off phishing schemes on the Web.
    * Parental controls and enhanced user account control. You can now set better limits on Web and media content through Vista's parental controls framework. You can also create user accounts that don't have administrator permissions, which prevents the system from being changed in harmful ways. Windows XP and 2000 had this, but it never worked as intended.
    * Windows Media Center added, Windows Media Player upgraded to version 11. There is an updated version of Windows Media Player for audio, but if you want your computer to function as a multimedia appliance (even or especially if only temporarily) or watch a DVD, you'd go through WMC.
    * Windows Photo Gallery. This program copies photos from your camera, tags them according to your preference, and shows them to you in thumbnail or slideshow views.
    * Windows Mobility Center and improved wireless networking tools. The Mobility Center makes it easier to manage laptop-oriented settings, like sound, wireless networking, power-saving functions, and screen brightness. Additionally, it's much easier to connect to wireless networks in Vista than it was in XP.

Now, some of you might ask me 'But Macs have had those things for a while now! Windows just ripped us off!'. Well, you're wrong. See, many features in Windows Vista have been around during the development of Longhorn (Which was canceled, due to an excess of features), and even more around since Windows 2000! Surely that will tell you a heap about just what Microsoft really has produced, and what Apple has blatantly ripped off and made it easier to use for people that aren't adept to the real world.

    More coming later!

I'm so happy the Forums are back online. What with all the hacking and malware like Conficker, I thought it would be long after the summer when the Forums would return. I feel sorry for those members who got hacked, and I hope they get their accounts back.

In today's internet, the security risk has never been higher. To help everyone through these dangerous times, I have made a list of safety protocols that may help you.

    -Check your email for attachments.

If that email has one, examine the file. If it looks like a harmless picture file (eg. Giant fish.png), don't trust appearances. If you look closely, the whole file may be Giant fish.png.exe. This is a trick hackers use to spread viruses in the form of applications. .png isn't a format in this case, it's part of the name of the app! Even if the return address is from a friend, it may be a trick! This may all be a concealment to make you think a virus is a harmless image! The familiar name of the sender? He may be hacked, or the system itself may be hacked.

-Disable plugins and javascript when visiting strange websites.

If you want to visit a web page with a bizarre URL first turn off all plugins and javascript (plugins includes things like java and flash.) Hackers can't upload files to you with just HTML (if they don't hack directly into your computer, which unless you're a security guru, is almost impossible to counter or detect when done right.)

    -Disable pop-ups

These can upload all sorts of files to your computer. Just disable them. And they're just plain annoying.

-Back up your files on an external hard drive often if the worst happens (you wipe your hard drive)

It really makes me sick that virtually no one comments in the BBC forum unless it is a topic by a "Good MoCist". The BBC forum is there so people can post their MoCs, and get constructive criticism. How are they supposed to improve their work if no one comments anything other than, "Oh, that's cool."? Really, people get off of your thrones and help them out. Taking two minutes to post isn't hard.

  3. I've been watching a lot of sci-fi TV right now--mostly Star Trek and Stargate SG-1, that stuff. And I can't help comparing the villians in those shows to, in my opinion, the definitive evil. The Daleks.

Daleks haven't been as widely recognized in Canada and our neighbours to the south, the US, as they should. Well, Doctor Who hasn't. And I find that very sad, because DW is the oldest and best written sci-fi show there is. It's fun, its quirky, it makes you think, and especially if you watch it at a young age, you fall in love with the main character. Every Whovian has a favourite Doctor. Mine would have to be Tom Baker.

The problem with the shows I see on the Sci-fi Channel is that they're so uptight. They're serious, strict, militaristic, and...iunno. Heats driving me crazy...

I'll cut to the chase. I don't watch enough of SG-1 or Star Trek to know much about its villians. But I think they're too scientific, just like the shows they're in. Too driven by human conception and not by the deepest fears and emotions of our race. That's what the Daleks are. The Daleks were concieved a decade or two after WWII. They are, to put it short, Space Nazis. Cold, emotionless, unstoppable killing machines. And the scariest part is that they were once almost nearly human.

The Daleks are fear of what we will become. The atrocities commited by the Nazis in WWII are echoed in all Dalek media. When they sweep through the skies it echoes the German Air Raid over London. They are the most racist, evil creatures in the universe, confident that they are superior over all other lifeforms.

You could say this about a lot of evil races, I'm sure. But I never see that in other shows. Iunno...I'm tired...just wanted to try and rant a little while...

I am really sick of this ridiculous argument about Bioniclepedia and BS01. I am sick of being persecuted and insulted and told that I am argumentative just because I have different opinions that others. And above all, I am disgusted by the arrogance and hypocrisy with which certain other members present their arguments.

    The Story, Chapter 1;

Nearly one year after the events of Pikmin 2

The Pikmin led normal but boring lives after the commanders left. They had learned much from the one called Olimar. The Pikmin began to use basic strategies like swarm and divide. Soon they needed much less protection from the predators that roamed the planet. Then the Thing came.

It streaked across the sky like a black star and the Pikmin wondered what it was. When it landed it cast up a black dust that blocked the sun from view. The Pikmin were afraid during this dark time as the Predators were about at all times. When it finally ended the Pikmin were relieved. They continued on normally as if nothing had happened.

The day that they found the Thing was at first a happy day for the Pikmin. Think of it! An enormous food source just sitting there. They harvested a small portion of the gooey blackness and brought it back to some of the onions. Then something strange happened.

The onions that consumed the food changed in color to deeper more violent tones. The seeds sprouted from them grew Pikmin that they had never seen before. They had fangs and long sharp claws on their hands. It was very frightening and the Pikmin ran from them.

The Dark Ones were fast and they soon caught up to them. The ones that they bit soon became Dark too. Only a few Pikmin escaped. The Predators found the Dark Ones and began to eat them in great droves. Soon they were Dark also and they carried the power to infect the Pikmin.

It became an endless night as Pikmin struggled to survive against impossible odds. Usually the Darks only hunted at night but then the Pikmin began to see them in daylight and their fear increased.

It was running and escaping all the time as each day new Pikmin became Dark. Then one day a select few Pikmin decided it was time to stop running. It was time to make a stand.

    Chapter 2;

The slaughter continued on the planet of the Pikmin. The Dark Pikmin were blossoming, while the normals were getting weaker and weaker.

Suddenly, another object streaked through the night sky. The normals panicked; could this be a second "Thing"? Their panick ended almost immediatley, because the object burst into flames, and exploded above a peaceful, untouched valley.

The next day, both Pikmin parties sent scouts to inspect the debris. The normals found something quite disturbing; the artifact known as the Radiaton canopy!!!

The Darks found something that was much more useful; a small, brave Hocotatian named Olimar! They were able to capture him, and have transported him to their biggest stronghold in the area; a enormous cave located deep within the rocky part of the area. They now want to bring him to a pool of the Gooey Blackness, and infect him!

If Olimar is infected and turns dark too, the Darks will have the leadership and experience they miss at the moment. Also, Olimar knows all the secrets and weaknesses of the Normals.

If the Darks get him on their side, the Normals will surely lose the war. The Normals/Darks have to rescue/protect Olimar, or get eradicated.

    Story Progression

The Story progresses through Chapters and Sections Chapters are goals for the players to obtain that are posted every few days or so. Once a new Chapter is posted the other one is void. So if you join while the story is on Chapter 2 you play Chapter 2 and not Chapter 1. Sections are major storyline related posts (Golem is in charge of these) that give backstory and future plot points. All chapters will be edited into this post.

    Chapter 2: The Hostage

The Normals are all located together in the same village on a mountain side cliff, in the West of the valley. The Darks and Olimar are spread over 4 strongholds in the East, wich is very mountainous.

The middle of the map consists of 3 types of terrain; In the North grassy, and open plains, in the center a quite dangerous swamp, and to the south a dense forest. lakes and other bodies of water are located everywhere

    Specific Objectives;

Pikmin: Rescue Olimar; he is your last hope. If he is infected, you will all die or be enslaved. Find a way into the strongholds, and free the captive Captain.

Dark Pikmin: You have Olimar in your stronghold. Do not let him escape, as he can win the war for us. Normals want to infiltrate, so keep them away from the strongholds, and kill or infect them.

Predator: There are many Pikmin and Dark Pikmin here for you to eat. Have fun munching.

    Playing the Game

You are one of those select few Pikmin. Or you can choose to be a Dark Pikmin. Predator characters are rewarded by the staff.

    Goals:

Pikmin: Defend yourself against the Dark Ones, discover treasures, destroy the Things, do not get changed, solve the mystery of the Thing and find a cure for the Darkness.

Dark Pikmin: Infect Pikmin, make more Things and plant them strategically around the planet and stop the Pikmin from finding a cure.

Predators: Eat as much as you can, roam around looking for Things, cause general chaos.

All; Since Olimar`s ship exploded, the land is littered with it`s 30 parts. These parts could be turned into weapons, so try to find them, and return them to your village/stronghold.

These are just a few of the main goals in the game. Of course you are allowed to make your own. That’s why it’s an RPG and not a platformer .

  4. That was a close call, any number of things could've happened.

However, all that happened was that your universe flow changed course, as if it had hit what can only be described as an assumed "bump in the road", causing a loss of contact between our universes, and a few rare cases of hardware failures (such as on BZP with its servers), however, those failures have been fixed now that your universe has returned to its former path.

Now, I presume that you would like to know just what the heck is going on?

Ah, a new blog. The first thing I'd like to do here is state my opinion of the word blog.

It is a silly word. It sounds less like a diary than it does like... well, this:

    rhp7110.jpg

Yes, the word 'blog' puts me in mind of loo roll. I have no idea why. That is why I shall stop calling this a blog right away and instead refer to it as a... journal? No, that makes it sound like something much cooler than it really is. And diary implies private. Ah, drat. Okay, you win, it's a blog.

I don't usually lose arguments, you know. Don't get used to it.

Anyway. I suppose that since this is my first entry I ought to tell you a bit about who I am. My name is Jonathan, but you can call me Jon if you like. I'm 17, and rather too far away from being eighteen (and thus able to do one or two things more legally than I currently can) for my liking. I live in England, which is better that living in America in my opinion because you get the same standard of comfort without having to have people paying so much dratted attention to you.

Don't get me wrong, I don't dislike America. My girlfriend is American (American chicks dig the British accent, it's a fact), but let's not go there.

Anyway, I'm Jon and... I'm quite good at a handful of things. It's probably quicker to tell you what I'm appallingly bad at, and that would be:

    • Most sports that involve a ball
    • Anything that involves making music
    • Mental Arithmetic
Don't tell anyone that last one, I'm supposed to be good at Maths, and I am... I just take a while about it.

As far as the internet is concerned, I've been around a few times and I'm a moderator for a thriving Teen Forum (no tiny thing either. We've got a shop :P Oh, and over 20,000 members). It's not a bad job to have, despite the complete lack of pay. Since I'm expressly forbidden to advertise rival forums here, I won't post the address. It's enough to let you know that we're out there and I'm helping out :)

Been on BZP since... well, since it was BZCommunity and KanohiPower. I remember the KP logo, it was rather natty. I have way too many Bionicle sets, but I don't buy 'em like I used to. Two Piraka, one Inika and two Barraki in the last two years, and that was more than I intended. Oh, and Kardas, but he was a bargain, seriously... three sets for £25? Come on, man, Vezon alone costs that much!

Speaking of bargains, I got myself one the other day. One of the sets I've wanted since my childhood:

    7190-1-957647097.jpg

    Four pounds. Yay me!
