Things to Come

Showed off some things at WAMALUG yesterday. LEGO comic covers, custom purist minifigs, and some experimentation with the new 2015 Bionicle parts:     I also got to hang out with 55555 after, continuing to prove that meeting people from the internet isn't a bad life decision! (Seriously though, kids, be careful.)   More photos to come!   -CF

Things Current

Someone remind me next year that there should be some sort of Flickr meet-up at BrickFair. I only met a handful of Flickrites, and it might be cool if we had a panel or something. I'm not saying I'll organize it, but I'm not saying I won't. But come next Spring I could make a notion to something of it somewhere online, get the ball rolling...   Currently addicted to "Don't Unplug Me" by ALL CAPS.   While also being addicted to Heyhihello! They have this Owl City feel, but with instruments,

They're Robots

Spoiler alert: The counter-argument to this post is "It's just a story."   In the latest LEGO Mag's Hero Factory comic, the upgrade process is described as "too dangerous to use again" in reference to Evo and Nex. It is then said, "Upgrade. So powerful a process even the bravest heroes feel fear at its name." Excuse me, but they're robots. They don't get "upgraded" in magic tubes. They get ripped apart for scrap, rebuilt differently with new and improved armor and mechanics and reprogrammed wit

They Went Boom

My best friend's dad pretty much put me in charge of dealing with this, and more behind the hay bale, on the 4th of July. Not to mention anything we did during the day or Friday night....   It was EPIC.   Also, Rock Band for the first time. I tried out all three parts. Fun stuff.   -CF

They Did It Again

World's Largest LEGO Mosaic, in England. I'm guessing the same group that did the mosaic that inspired the BZPower/BrickFair Mosaic Project, but I'm still investigating that. (So maybe not "they" and "again.")   Either way, pretty impressive.   -CF

Theater To Myself

Yesterday I saw Monsters Vs. Aliens! VERY funny movie! In 3D! For free! With my two best friends! Here's the best part:   We were the only ones in the theater!!!   This happened to Omi once as well. And, just like him, we were able to "talk" during the movie. You know, make jokes here and there and whatnot.   Anyway, the movie was great, just as my friends had said, and having the theater to ourselves just made it all the more fun. (I wish we could do it again for other movies. Like,

The Zombie Apocalypse...

...is closer than you think.   Apparently 85% of children in the test group in Japan displayed symptoms of slurred speech and violent behavior due to having the H1N1 virus.   It can only be a matter of time before the rest of the world is infected.   -CF (STOP READING THIS AND GET TO YOUR ATTIC! The World Of Bionicle

I got the Bioncile Atlas, Bionicle World on Saturday.   It's written in the perspective of an OoMN member. There is some great info in there, such as some stuff regarding the Toa Mata in the Mata Nui chapter. That chapter is great, really brought back '01. But the Mata Nui section didn't mention the Rahi Nui, and I think it should. (to GregF if he's reading this)   Yeah, go get it!   -CF

Once again, Japan drops jaws.   Holograms just got ten times better. (I think I've figured out how it worked though, or at least partially.)   -CF

The Wild World Of Cave Racing!

If you haven't heard, Cave Racing is becoming a popular sport among AFOL's on Flickr. See? Those are Cave Racers. They race in caves. What more do I need to say?   I myself have jumped on the bandwagon right before if left town. My Cave Racer (I brightened the photo) (Or view it on Brickshelf) (Gallery when public)   In case you're wondering about a few things, there are rules. Now, if you didn't feel like clicking that link, I'll tell you what they are before you start bashing some of

The V V Odradek

What started off as this and evolved here and there finally emerges from the docking bay complete and victorious, ready to put some fleebnorks in their place! I present to you a Vic Viper, this being NoVVember of course.   The Odradek: More pictures can be found here once the folder is moderated. Until then, feast your eyes on these. Including the pilot.   Flickr.   ***** Back in January I ordered 10 1x2x3 white slopes. I must have clicked 70 though, because that is how many I got. When life gi

The Test

so, I decided to test out that "draft" button. So here is the test.   If you can read this draft, post so in the reply part. But I think that might not be possible, so post in the testing entry right below.   'K?   -CF   Yeah, that was the test. The draft button. (I was able to check out my blog not signed in, and this wasn't visible. So...Pretty much, I guess I can post anything, reminders, half blogs, such, and nobody will see it before it's done! So, yeah. The Straws Are In The Food Court

Please may I reply sarcastically to the customers? I promise only to do it to the ones who ask stupid questions and should know better to look around for a moment and figure the answer out themselves.   >>Where are your straws? >>Do you have any straws? >>Where is the bathroom? >>Where is the water fountain? >>*walking out of the theater* How do I get out? >>*walking out of the theater* Where is the bathroom?   Just think for a minute! The Second 501st Visit

(Because I wanted another Star Wars category entry. I should probably make that plain Sci-Fi or geek stuff.) (Find out what the 501st is and what I'm talking about here.)   Saw the 501st Legion again today with a friend. We had been tipped off by a protocol droid that they would be at the local Toys R Us to help promote Toys For Tots. It was, once again, really cool to hang out with them. (One guy from the con last week recognized us, but another did not--even after multiple tries to jog h

The Screwtape Letters-- Live

Tonight, at the Lansburgh Theatre in Washington, DC, I saw The Screwtape Letters. That's right, I saw it. It was made into a play and was presented in a very good way.   If you don't know, C. S. Lewis wrote The Screwtape Letters, a book about a devil's (Screwtape) letters to his tempter-in-training nephew. This is a story of a devil trying to train his nephew into tempting his "subject" into straying away from Christianity so the devils can eat his soul.   If you have not read the book, and

The Score

I got the Transformers' Score yesterday! (As in the background music. I don't even know why they call the other thing a soundtrack, to me soundtracks have always been the background music.)   Anyway, it's awesome! If I could choose one word to describe it, I'd say it's "powerful."   That being said, there's your one word, and goodnight.   -CF   Quote of the Day: Anthrophobia - Fear of flowers.   Just kidding. The Score really is amazing. There's so much to it that really brings back

The Sabership

Fun with lightsabers, I just had to do something out of the ordinary.     More here.   If that doesn't appeal to you, maybe my recent haul will. But that's not half of it. What I really want to show you is the Dark Orange! And it all cost me less than $7.   And I'm having trouble finding Izzo's (or is it Moko's?) Japanese schoolgirl with the long pigtails and the school case that turns into a gun. Made of Lego, if you're getting dirty thoughts. It's really good and now I can't find it.

The Prestige

I just recently watched it for the third time. » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « First time I saw it I thought it was weird, because Hugh Jackman is essentially killing himself over and over. The second time I grudgingly watched it because my roommates were, it was a weekend night, and a few people had not seen it yet. All was well in my mind, and I appreciated it more. (I still like The Illusionist more because of my first thoughts given of this film. But a friend recentl

The Posters Are In!

My theater's manager (the one that deals with the movie posters) finally sent my posters to me. Here's what I have:   -9 -Wolverine -Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince -Transformers 2 (with the faces of Optimus and Bumblebee staring over a pyramid, or something. It's like my Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Speed Racer posters: the poster is cooler than the movie.) -G. I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra -Two District 9 posters (the one with the ship for me, the one with the target for a friend)

The Plastic Prison

That's the ultimate question: Take it out or leave it in the case?     I received this awesome Aquaman ArtFX figure (statue?) at work because Barnes and Noble is doing some cool "Get Pop-Cultured" events starting this coming weekend (including giveaways like $45 ArtFX figures for costume and trivia contests), and I know that's something many of us geeks here might be interested in (including Batman/DC days, Marvel Day, TMNT Day, and others). Right now I'm just racking my brain for cool trivia q

The Perfect Desktop

(Reposted because this is turning into an interesting discussion. Won't you join?) Over in Bunda's Blog, there is a discussion on desktop looks. (Granted, I may have enticed this discussion, but whatever.)   Now, I realize that some people like their icons. Like having little pictures for programs covering up the pig picture we call a wallpaper. Some people like nothing to very little on the front screen, resulting in wallpaper visibility.   Everyone has their preferences. What every you

The Other Side Of The Universe

So...Stargate Universe premiers tonight! (I'll be watching it tomorrow night on Hulu, however.)   And BZP BrickFair friends, good job on being one of my longest kept up computer wallpapers, but it was time for a change and to geek out, so, sorry, changed. (Robert Carlyle looks awesome. We'll see what my judgment is tomorrow, eh? But really, I've never heard of any of them until now.) But hey, you guys prevailed against me changing it to a 9 screen around the beginning of September.   ~D2
