Just got a new rank: Nuva Team Assembled. The only real difference is that the Kanohi Nuva are no longer in protodermis.
As a side note, Rangers and Rays face off at the Trop in ten minutes.
Rangers @ Rays
Cliff Lee returns to the playoff, but on a different team, a different division, even a different league. He'll be trying to bring the swag that helped him pitch the Phillies into the World Series last year to the Rangers in Tampa Bay, where he'll be pitching against Cy Young candidate David Price in Game 1 at Tropicana Field. Meanwhile, the Rays will attempt to win the World Series in what may be their last shot in a long time--maybe even their last shot in Tampa Bay, as their
During this years' baseball season, KIE set up a fantasy baseball league for us. I did pretty well, but I was disappointed in my finish because I could have finished higher if there was a Wild Card.
Here are the final rankings:
1. Toronto Huskies
2. Moss Bluff Cruisers
3. Tinley Park Rynos
4. Eau Claire Blugolds
5. Farmville Feminists
6. Spartan Six
7. Florence Platypi
8. Buffalo Wings
Now, here are the owners of those teams, in alphabetical order, rather than their teams' record
The Blackhawks close out the preseason 3 and 4 with a 4-3 win over the St. Louis Blues. All four goals came in the second period, while Marty Turco allowed one goal in the second period and two in the third. The Blackhawks have yet to get comfortable with Turco's style of play, but once they do, the Norris Trophy winning Duncan Keith, his partner on defense Brent Seabrook, and the best puck-moving goaltender in the NHL, Marty Turco, will form what is sure to be one of the most powerful defenses
--In the words of the rather annoying White Sox commentator Hawk Harrelson. Unfortunately, the Padres could not beat Jonathan Sanchez and give us a fourth straight year of extra regular season baseball, and Game 163.
History will not be made this year, at least in the form of the first year ever with a three way tie solved by tiebreakers, and now the San Francisco Giants are NL West Champions, the Atlanta Braves the National League Wild Card, and the San Diego Padres are a team with perhaps o
With their 8-7 win over the Phillies, the Braves have taken the lead in the Wild Card, and now whether a tiebreaker occurs or not rests solely on the Padres and Giants. A Padres win extends the season for two more days. A Giants win ends the season at game 162 and gets both the Giants and the Braves into the playoffs without tiebreakers.
The good news: the chance of baseball tomorrow is still 50%.
Since the Turner Broadcasting Service (TBS) doesn't have the sense to show the biggest game of the day between the San Diego Padres and the San Francisco Giants, MLB Network's final game of Pennant Chase Coverage will feature the matchup that may conclude the question of who wins the West, or may prolong it to game 163--which would make it the fourth year in a row that a 163rd game would be necessary.

He's really quite a scary fellow. If he ever argues with an umpire, the call may be overturned for fear of force lightning.
The Padres stay alive with a win over San Francisco last night, and from the look of today's score, will push it to the final game of the season. Meanwhile, the Braves are in danger of losing the Wild Card, because with a win today by the Padres and a loss by the Braves, courtesy of the Phillies, the two teams will be tied in the Wild Card race.
Tampa Bay Loses the Lead
With last night's loss to the Royals, the Rays fell back by half a game to the Yankees, whose game was rained out last ni
Listened to the game on WGNRadio.com. Pretty awesome game. Hossa scored twice, Pisani once, Sharp once, and Kane got his first preseason goal. Corey Crawford did terrific, having two shutout periods and giving up only two goals in the third. Hawks are in good shape.
The next game is against the Blues at the UC on NHL Network--US and WGN News 720 AM.
Go Hawks and Good Night.
Stay tuned in to MLB Network. Once the Phillies are through destroying the Braves, the Padres-Giants game will be on in game two of the MLB Network Pennant Chase Coverage doubleheader. Of course, some of you have already started watching the D-Backs-Dodgers game, so enjoy that.
I unfortunately, will miss the game--bedtime. It's too bad the last exciting pennant chase is on the west coast.
I'm watching Phillies @ Braves on MLBN. With a win, the Braves clinch a tie in the Wild Card. Those that get it locally can see Yankees @ Red Sox. Afterwards comes more Pennant Chase Coverage of the Padres @ Giants, and for those who get the local feeds for that game, D-Backs @ Dodgers (Which really isn't Pennant Chase Coverage, since both teams are eliminated).
Anyhow, main thing is, if you have MLB Network. GO THERE!
I have created an MLB Playoff Bracket that will be updated as the postseason goes on. The one in this post won't change, but the one in the content block is the one I'll update.

The Padres are going to be under heavy pressure now. The final series of the season for San Diego is a three game set on the road against the team they're chasing, the San Francisco Giants, and since the Giants' magic number is 2 now, a loss by the Padres would clinch it for San Fran. What does that mean for the Friars? It means sweep or go home, and after that, they may even need to win a fourth game in a row to stay in it.
In the event that the Padres do sweep the Giants, their next worry w
While I'm at it, I might as well mention that the Chicago Blackhawks (my favorite hockey team), received their championship rings a couple days ago.
The best way I can describe them in a way BZPers will understand is...
SHIIIINYYY!
Seriously, those things are awesome. Not as awesome as the Cup itself (and it will pale in comparison to the Commissioner's Trophy the Cubs win when the World Series drought finally ends), but still incredible. Plus, the players actually get to keep these
Hey, hey, my donation has landed. Anyhow, for those of you who don't know (which would mean everyone but Aho-Chan and Sumiki) the BaseBlog is beyond a blog, this is beyond baseball it's a blog that focuses on the great American sport of baseball. The idea of a baseball themed blog has actually been in the works by me ever since the Super Bowl, when Aho-Chan posted a blog entry asking if anyone besides herself didn't care for the Super Bowl, to which I suddenly got the idea of a baseball-themed b
