The Texas Rangers are now the champions of the American League of Professional Baseball Clubs, and will play in their first World Series in franchise history, and I'd say they are the favorites to win it. They have become what the Phillies were supposed to be--a pitching-heavy all-around champion, and they beat the two teams with the best regular season records in their league, and also toppled the 2009 World Series champions. Congratulations to the Texas Rangers, and their fans in the Lone Star
A Comedy of Errors is the name my mom gives to any baseball game like game 5 of the NLCS. First the foul bunt that was called fair, then the throw to third, during which Pablo Sandoval goofed, and then a series of errors, gaffes, and blunders throughout the rest of the game resulted in a 4-2 PHI win. As for the RAGE part? FOX had technical difficulties during the ending of the game, so I was unable to watch the end. Hence the RAGE! Oh yeah, game 2 rematch between Colby Lewis and Phil Hughes.
...The World Series may be coming to Texas Rangers fans for the first time in, literally, forever. CC has to recover from his game 1 start, while if CJ Wilson and the rest of the Rangers can do everything they've done for the majority of this series, the Rangers will be American League Champions.
Tune in to TBS at the top of the hour for American League Championship Series Game 5, between the Texas Rangers and New York Yankees at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx.
It seems there is a mass exodus from Yankee Stadium in New York after Nelson Cruz hit that two-run bomb.
It's like the Rangers are getting revenge on the Yankees bullpen for what happened in Game 1 to the Texas bullepen.
Plus, unless the Yanks make a seven-run comeback, the Rangers will only need one more win to head to their first World Series in franchise history, and even if the Yankees tie the series up later, they'd have to face Cliff Lee again.
Advantage clearly belongs to Texas.
San Francisco took the lead.
That's pretty much all that needs to be said, since Neither pitcher really let much happen. Even with the three runs Hamels gave up.
Next round is in San Fran tomorrow--Blanton vs. Bumgarner. My prediction? Giants take 3-1 lead, before the Phillies force game 7 between Hamels and Cain.
"I find your lack of vision disturbing..."
Darth Quade will continue for at least two years as the Emperor and Dark Lord of the Cubs. Rather than sign Ryno or wait to take a stab at getting Girardi, the Chicago Cubs shall embrace the Dark Side and march forward to conquer the rest of the MLB universe beyond Wrigley Field. This news also means that Girardi will almost assuredly remain in New York, while Ryno may end up leaving the Iowa Cubs and going to one of the other MLB teams who remain ma
...says Cliff Lee as he dominates the Yankees again, just as he did against them in last year's World Series with the Phillies, and all with only a very shallow lead. The only reason he didn't pitch the complete game was that the Rangers finally scored six more runs, giving Texas an eight-run lead deep in the heart of Texas New York City. For that reason, Ron Washington decided to let ROY candidate Neftali Feliz pitch the ninth, and he also dominated for that one brief outing, giving Texas a 2-1
...the Yankee fans seem to be accusing the Rangers of "buying" Cliff Lee, and claiming it's the only reason the Rangers are winning the series, and that the Yankees should have Lee in a fair world.
It sounds like how everyone else describes the Yankees.
I don't believe that a team can "buy a championship" because the team is just that--a team, and anyone they trade for at the deadline is a part of that team. I don't believe that the Yankees "bought" any of their 27 championships, and I don
The Hawks had a come from behind win at the UC last night, with a couple of third period goals by Marian Hossa and a game winner in OT by Patrick Sharp, thanks to a great assist by Patrick Kane. The most incredible shot, however, was Hossa's second goal, when, facing away from the net, shot it through his legs and the legs of one of the Blues, straight into the net. Marty Turco also did fantastic, saving 32 out of 34 shots.
The Hawks' next game is in Chicago against the Vancouver Canucks, in

I actually had a prediction that would have been a shocker to most folks.
Rangers win in 5.
True, it requires three more Rangers wins in a row, but it does not seem all that inaccurate. My prediction was based on the pitching matchups they had. I fully believed that C. J. Wilson could, and would, outpitch C. C. Sabathia and win Game 1. After that, Colby Lewis could definitely handle the Yankees longer than Phil Hughes could handle the Rangers. Then you have Cliff Lee in
Y'know, I'm surprised I didn't make an entry like this before (although I already know who everyone who has replied here roots for).

American League Championship Series: New York Yankees @ Texas Rangers
For the first time in Washington Senators/Texas Rangers history, a postseason series have been won. If they win another series this year. they will reach their first World Series in franchise history. The primary obstacle? The Champions of the World Series of 2009, the New York Yankees.
Joe Girardi's squad is fighting to raise Girardi's number again, this time from 28 to 29, as motivation towards their next goal. Given t
The Chicago Blackhawks brought in their first win of the season in Buffalo, New York, against Ryan Miller and the Sabres in a come-from-behind win-- 4-3, Final. But the main story is a hit that Niklas Hjalmarsson dished out to one of the Sabres, knocking him out and drawing Nik a two-game suspension, while Miller is making some clearly angry comments (as he should be, when one of his teammates is knocked out and injured). Team USA's Olympic star, Miller, is also saying that Niklas Hjalmarsson sh
All I can say is, Turco was brilliant--Leddy was so-so. Mainly because Leddy couldn't handle a short pass that bounced off of his stick and skates and was then picked up by one of the Avs. They then scored their first goal on that breakaway.
Some solace can be taken for three reasons:
1) Hawks came back from a 3-1 deficit to tie it, forcing overtime.
2) In the NHL, you can get a point in the standings for losing, so long as it is in overtime.
3) In the Stanley Cup run last year, the Hawk
*sigh*...
I was hoping for all five game series, but this year is looking to be full of sweeps. Pettitte held up, while Pavano couldn't hold back New York, and so the Twins will have to win all three of the next few games--including two in enemy territory at Yankee Stadium.
Likewise, the Rays are headed to Arlington, Texas, where they must also win three in a row to advance, and unlike the Twins, they have to face the third of Texas' top three pitchers in Colby Lewis--not the more question
Both of these teams are lucky to be here. The Giants beat Mat Latos and the Padres on the last day of the season, eliminating the Padres and winning the West for San Francisco, as well as the Wild Card for the Atlanta Braves. Now the two will face off at AT&T Park for what will probably be the right to face the Phillies and Roy Halladay, the man who no-hit the Cincinnati Reds yesterday. So it looks bleak even for the team that wins this series, but even the mightiest of teams can be taken do
And a very difficult task that will be, in the current era of the National Hockey League. Ever since the '05 lockout, four different teams have failed to carve their names on the Stanley Cup twice in a row. The Hurricanes couldn't do it, nor could the Ducks. Not even the continuously dominant Detroit Red Wings could beat out the Pittsburgh Penguins in 2009, and the Penguins then found themselves eliminated this year by the surprising Montreal Canadiens in the second round. And starting today, at
None, says Doc Halladay, as he no-hits the Cincinnati Reds in the second ever no-hitter in Postseason history, preceded only by Don Larsen's perfect game. Halladay also has his second no-hitter this year, his first being his perfect game against the Marlins, and this one would have been a perfect game were it not for Jay Bruce's walk--the only blemish of the night.
I myself was watching the game from the start. I always jokingly say the first time anyone gets on base "There goes the perfect g
Feliz was looking to shut down the Rays in the bottom of the ninth, after walking the first batter. The Rangers were three outs away from taking a 1-0 lead in the series thanks in a large part to Cliff Lee, who, today, has been everything he was meant to be when he came over from Seattle.
Meanwhile, Cliff's old team, the Phillies, would be starting Game 1 of the NLDS in 27 minutes against the Cincinnati Reds at home in Citizens bank Park.
Feliz walked the second straight batter in a row be
