Driving

Me: Okay, I've parked. Dad: All right, let's go. Me: Wait, what button locks the car? Dad: Oh, don't worry about it. No one will want to steal our car anyway. Me: *looks at beat-up, 13-year-old Maxima with paint scratches, no hubcaps, and a bent license plate* Well, that's true.   Mom: Good, good, nice job parkAAAUGH! Me: AHHH WRONG PEDAL WRONG PEDAL!   Me: It's hot out. Should I close the windows? Mom: Hmmm, you can leave them open a little. It doesn't really matter though. Nobody's goi

Literalism.

It ALWAYS happens... whenever I forget to copy my post to clipboard, the server always picks just that moment to blow up on me.   Well, I'll have to retype this entire post. Thankfully it's not a very long one.   Anyway, the other day my sister was misbehaving during dinnertime. She was running all over the place, dashing over to my chair and chattering away about whatever whims entered her four-year-old mind, then trotting over to the family room to play with her toys for a bit, and then mayb

So

So.   ...   I should probably have something to rant about.   Or maybe something to make an odd point concerning.   Or perhaps an interesting anecdote.   I know! Seen Traffic, the most recent one I just put up? Well, did I say I entered it in this video contest at school? If I didn't, now I did. And I don't know what place I got out of ten but I made the top ten, that I know, which isn't saying much since I doubt there were more than 15 entries. But anyway, yeah. Problem is they don't like

Imponderables...

Why do we always have to go to bed when we're not sleepy and wake up when we are? I mean, seriously, I'm half dead in the mornings.   Also, why do we drive on parkways and park on driveways? I mean seriously, that's really odd. It's not like that that thing with cars and shipments and ships and cargo, that's really unrelated and ships can carry shipments and cars can take cargoes. The parkways driveways thing is seriously strange tho.   In the meanwhile, yesterday I went and ate at Chili's. Ne

Oh Yeah

Cafe Corner, over 2000 pieces, all morning and I'm still on the second story, my fingertips are numb, and I'm happier than a pig in the mud. =D   MERRY CHRISTMAS PEOPLES!

Life's Little Childhood Joys

Ever build a pillow fort? Aw man, it's so fun... just a simple stacking of pillows and you have a little place, a hideaway... yeah, good times...   Well, anyway, I recently built one for my sister since she's at the age where she's old enough to appreciate something like that but too young to build it herself. It's her little pretend "house" which is really cute, it's actually pretty nice inside, there are three windows, it has an air conditioning vent all to itself so it's always really cool i

Sai

Just watched a video of someone drawing in SAI.   WANT.   -PRETTY VECTOR LINES AND FILLS. I cannot go on about this enough. -Flip, rotate, and zoom your drawing viewpoint, without ever changing the actual orientation of your canvas. -Exports to .psd. -Scratchpad. -Masking and clipping. -Starts up in seconds. -5 megabytes. FIVE. MEGABYTES. WHAAAAAT.

It's Summer

IT.   IS.   REALLY.   FREAKING.   HOT.   So I've been watching a lot of anime to pass the time until, you know, college. Been averaging around 40 eps/week these past few weeks according to MAL. I marathoned ef - a tale of memories (excellent), finished Soul Eater (bad ending, fun series), finished Spice and Wolf (didn't get what everyone was talking about till episode 5, after that it was good), finished Higurashi (nightmares), finished Nanoha first season (better than I thought it'd be fro

... Wait, What?

So I've got this Latin worksheet for homework and there's this one question, "Copy out and give line numbers for all the words related to snakes or snake imagery in this passage."   ... what? Uh, well, aside from the fact that the entirety of lines 203-215ish are describing these two snakes... uh... I mean, what are they looking for?   Obviously "angues," "serpens," and "dracones" since those words literally mean "snake" or "serpent," but what else? Do they want me to mention the "immensa volu

Relative Time

I don't often post new art anymore. It's because as my patience increases I spend more time on each piece. I used to turn out a piece a day, but it was generally terrible. Now I turn out something if I get inspiration now and then and if I really think it came out well. It takes a lot longer, and often several sketches.   It's odd though. I post something decent hopefully once a month. And now people seem to think I'm someone new to the forum whenever I do. I get posts treating me like I just a

The Aeneid - Book 10

Goodness that was graphic! It's like 300, except in epic poem format. All this brutal stabbing and slashing and killing and maiming... wow.   Vergil coulda directed an action movie. XD   I suppose standards were different back then and having a spear shoved through the back of your throat was seen as perhaps a less gruesome way of dying just because of the way wars were fought in the first place. Or maybe not and Vergil just wanted an epic bloody gory battle scene.   Also, what's with all the

Robert

My sister made him.   He's awesome.   (those are his arms sticking up in the air. It might also be better if you imagine the big orange piece as being his mouth)   Oh, and while I'm blagging anyway, here's an excerpt from 52, chapter 3. Spoiler'd to save space. The context should explain itself. » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «“Let this be a reminder to you!” he shouted, when he was already several stories off the ground. “The Toa are still here! Quantum

First off, news of the day out of the way, then the rant.   Oookey well looks like I ended up in third place by one vote, 35 to Theisen's 36... *sigh* ah well...   Our basketball team did win the regional or central Jersey or whatevertheheck... yeah, it won the game, and it's going to play at Rutgers on Sunday.   One kid I know literally does not believe in school spirit. I don't mean that he just doesn't dress up in school colors during Spirit Week, I don't do that either, but he literally a

Better Than Pixie Stix!

Nothing gets me hyper like an AC and I am so excited about my entry this time.   SO EXCITED OMG.   I've spent hours on it and it's looking great. I have half a chance of being done by the end of the week.   The frame was actually quite a focus this time...   But I got it finished in a timely manner, and I love it.   And I'm actually just starting on the main subject of the drawing. Though by now I'm almost done with the gray layers, and will move onto the red and copper soon.   After tha

Distractions

For some reason, I can draw (in fact, prefer to do so) and do most of my homework (Latin, Physics, math, etc.) with music on... but I'm unable to write very well. Be it an essay or a story, if I'm actually putting thought into it (which means my Global Studies essays don't count; they're 90%, er... "filler material" [as the actual term is not allowed on BZP]) I can't concentrate right if something's playing in the background.   That was a lot of parenthetical statements. Anyway. Off to turn off

Entries Posted Early In The Day...

... seem to get more replies   Therefore I am posting this entry.   It's raining out. Kinda stinks.   It also stinks that B-Shelf and Maj have been spazzing out. Wonder if that'll affect the BBC contest voting.   Seen some nice entries, but maybe it's just me, seems like a somewhat low turnout. Eh... or maybe I just scanned the list rather quickly. Or maybe it's just that few entries seemed to stand out...   Anyway the point of this blog post is...   | | See previous two blog entries

We Winged It! (and Won It... Sort Of)

Our Science Olympiad team placed 5th at the regionals, which means we advance to States!   For the two events I participated in, I got second for one and sixth for another. Surprisingly, the second place was for Remote Sensing, which I know like nothing about. I credit my partner with that second place. He did the conceptual questions since he actually knew the material, I took the math parts of the test off his hands.   While we got sixth, out of twenty teams that's not bad, and science pic

Birthday Of The Universe

According to Good Omens: The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch (yes it's a long title) by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett, the universe began on October 21.   Which is my birthday!   Wow that's cool. ^^   Of course it's a work of comedic fiction, but still.

It Was So Cold Yesterday...

That I ended up with a cold myself. Which is why I'm home today.   Sick days are way overrated... I woke up with every muscle in my body sore and a very much complaining stomach, not to mention a headache that feels like a cannon being fired at my skull from inside my brain and no appetite whatsoever.   *mutter* If I can see my breath inside the bus, then one would assume that the driver should TURN ON THE HEATER...   But after some Tylenol I feel better. Though I'll still be taking the stair

52-pickup Final Author's Notes

Posted here so as not to clutter up the topic. Author's notes after the jump.     Final Author’s Notes   You really don’t have to read this. This is just my rambling and random facts about the writing of this story.   To start off: I don’t believe I finished that.   This is not like finishing a short story or a drawing or something, this was huge. How huge? In case anyone wants some statistics, as of this writing (I might do a couple more revisions) the story proper, minus my notes, stands a

Those Bumps In The Sidewalk

I rode my bike to the library today. And man I tell ya if I ever get my hands on the contractor who did those sidewalks... I mean, it's not the main sidewalk itself, that was rather smooth. But when it comes to the ramps at the end of the sidewalk that leads onto the road...   Okay, so the sidewalk and road area is like grass | sidewalk | grass | border| road. And the border, it's the little thin concrete wall that keeps the grass out of the road, right? And when it gets to the end of the sidew

Columbia Again!

Yesterday was the first session of the Columbia University High School Science Honors Program (or just the SHP).   We had an hour-long orientation presentation, and it was really very impressive. For one thing the director of the SHP, proffessor at Columbia, theoretical physicist, very nice humorous guy, first gave us a little speech. The room we were in, room 301 in Pupin (it's pronounced "poo-PEEN," stop laughing) Physics Laboratory, was the room in which speeches were given by... oh, let me
