On Weather

IT. IS. FREEZING. TODAY.   I mean, it definitely gets colder in winter and fall, but for SUMMER... and I haven't a clue how to turn on the heating! It's been raining and overcast for days, and I AM FREEZING. Yesterday was still warm enough to wear shorts, but dang it got cold today.   I'm SHIVERING. That's not RIGHT for summer. It's like FIFTY degrees out. Gah.   Also, LZ introduced me to a game called Cave Story. Quite a while ago, in fact. I'm now addicted to it. I've beat it on easy, and n

On Internet Readability

You don't want this to happen.   So seeing as recently a topic for each of the library forums has popped up in GD, esp. on the subject of how little attention stories are receiving these days, that got me thinking a bit... from my own experience, I'd like to say that perhaps part of the fault lies on neither the writing nor the readers... but the formatting.   Like, look here, see what I just did? I double-returned between paragraphs. Why do I do that? Well, because it keeps this blog entry--

Olympic Opening Ceremonies

It was spectacular. Completely spectacular. I watched the entire thing, missing only one or two minutes of the parade of nations when I went to order food.   Ah it's too bad darned NBC acquired the broadcasting rights for the entire country since now we're watching it twelve hours late but hey, watching it at the same moment as the rest of the nation, well, that's good enough.   The opening show was unbelievable. Unbelievable.   I just want to say that I wish the stupid announcers had left po

Older And Younger

My mom made an dry observation that the older you get, the less school supplies you seem to need.   Nobody probably remembers this but I posted a rundown of my sister's kindergarten school supply list last year. What's my school supply list? A couple binders, folders, looseleaf, pencils, pens, a calculator, pencil bags, that's about it. Half of those I already have; I've been reusing the same pencil bags, calculators, pens, and some binders. Which left a couple binders, folders, a ream of loose

Okay Oh Geez Oh Gosh I Did It Okay

That's a college essay.   So about an hour ago I was halfway through an idea I had for my essay and I decided to call it a night and while brushing my teeth an idea struck me so the computer went back on and here I am. There's the original 930 word version, which I heavily cut to a 705 word version, which I'll probably need to go over again to get it closer to the 500 word rule of thumb. But it's a pretty nice story with a good theme and it's my voice and okay. Now I've got something to work wi

Okay Almost There!

One last comparison.   Flats laid down, background blue is pretty much just placeholder (to make sure I didn't miss any spots).   I'm probably going to just go with summer, but we'll see.   Fwee, this is probably the fastest I've ever worked on a picture! I feel giddy.

Ohhhhh Boy...

Okay, I didn't get time yesterday to post this (for reasons which will be elaborated in this entry) and two more very interesting things happened today, so I'ma gonna need ta post two entries consecutively.   Anyway, yesterday... was very busy. Because in the evening I had this college seminar from 7 to 9, and I had Digital Darkroom afterschool (Computer Graphics club).   You can imagine what I thought when, on the late bus ride home, our bus decided to get a flat tire. We had to wait somethin

Oh Yeah

Cafe Corner, over 2000 pieces, all morning and I'm still on the second story, my fingertips are numb, and I'm happier than a pig in the mud. =D   MERRY CHRISTMAS PEOPLES!

Oh My...

I can't believe it! I mean, I remember Columbine and that was shocking, but, I mean, oh my gosh, 22, up to 32 people dead?   It's frightening, really. I mean, I'm just sitting here and someone IMs me, like "Turn on Headline News" and I flip on CNN and there are police cars and people talking about shooting...   This is crazy.   My heart goes out to those killed and wounded, and their families and friends. I hope nothing like this ever happens again...

Oh Look

It's a link.   Well it's not that I mind not getting a lot of replies... but greater than zero is always appreciated. ^^;;   Oh and for those not interested in the above link, I still need a tiebreaker on this.   And a pretty picture for those interested in neither.

Off To Cmu

Tomorrow I leave for Pittsburgh for a summer program at Carnegie Mellon. Six weeks of college-level courses. What fun.   In the meantime I'm worried cuz my schedule is @*&^!!ed up. Darned budget cuts...   So there's only one session of AP Latin V, only one session of AP Computer Science A, two sessions of AP Physics C but each one is two periods (APs Physics C, Chem, and Bio are all both-day classes) and only two sessions of SAMCLA (AP-weighted high level course, but no AP exam) but they'r

Odd Tastes...

My sister is weird. She's four, starting the prime of her kidhood.   So how can there be so many things that kids ought rightly like that she doesn't?   She doesn't like the crunchy parts. Like on fried chicken, she'll only have the meat. Same thing for the Costco rotisserie chicken we buy now and then. The skin has the most flavor!   Even worse, get this: Butterscotch. It's, what, caramelized sugar and butter? It's amazing! How can she NOT like butterscotch?   And I understand tolerance for

Odd Fansubs

Some things I just find kinda odd, some things I find really annoying.   For one thing, I've never seen the "this program was brought to you by the following sponsors" message subtitled before until now. Very odd, considering... you know, it's not really part of the show.   I've also never seen the "when watching [show], please brighten the room and watch at a distance from the TV" blurb subtitled before this, ever. I mean, when it's got an actual lil' animated scene to go with it, like in Hay

October!

Ahhh... my favorite month. My birthday, AND Halloween. And now, an AC too, and it's number 14, which is my favorite number.   I'm CGing my entry... it's tricky getting it to look powerful and dynamic, I'm thinking of making the hand bigger, and maybe even the body a bit smaller, to accentuate the action...   Basic layout, the leg musculature stinks, I'm going to redo that... it's only guidelines anyway...   As you can tell, I have about four different arm poses to choose from... I was having

Nooooo

I've seen at least four other people with a sig along the same general lines as mine.   Time to figure out what I want to put in the speech bubble and go back to using "Lyg says."   I'd hate to be part of a... *shudder* trend...

Ninja Comp

Now that all the plugins and such are installed, got a printer properly connected (I washed the dishes in exchange for my dad figuring out the printer. I think I got the better end of the deal), got Flash, quicktime, Firefox, haven't gotten AIM or YIM installed yet but I'm using one of them online IM thingies... anyway, now that I got it all mostly comfortable, same old wallpaper, all my files from the old comp... I gotta say, it's scary. Before if I left the comp on late at night my parents cou

Nice Boat

Today we had a day off, because of staff development or something. I should be doing work but I really don't feel like it... second semester senior and all. Anyway, that means a four day weekend. Wewt.   Went to bed at nearly 3 last night... woke up today around 10:30. I blame CoalGuys releasing Toradora 19 subs at 1:40ish in the morning.   Hweeeell tomorrow's Valentine's Day, eh? Barely realized it was coming. Eh. Indifferent.   Today is Friday the 13th! Superstitions abound.   Er. I don't

New York, New York

Wow. What a city.   I spent essentially from after dinner (7:15) to now (about 9, who knows when I'll finish typing this) walking the streets of New York.   Not any kind of complicated route (I'd get lost) but you really can just feel the flavor of the city... I spent some time sketching people who were playing basketball and soccer, and on the ones with a bit more detail to them... well, you just feel the attitude of New York. It's all so diverse. You see people of so many kinds... seniors in

New Years!

Less than two hours away in my time zone (EST)! Of course I'm staying up till midnight, I haven't gone to bed before 12 for the past five days or so.   Wow 2007 went fast. So much is going on!   NEW YEAR TIME! New start! Whole new year! At least a week of writing the date wrong!   Happy New Year people!

New Rahkshi Avs

Ta-dah!   Also classes are hard.   Also also. It's really hot.   Also also also. We went on a trip to Kennywood on July 4th.   Also also also. Also. Happy July 4th.   Also I should stop saying also.   So I also discovered this really cool webcomic called the Abominable Charles Christopher. Google it. Don't worry, it's kiddie friendly   So is Kukuburi, really... very different kinds of comics.   Other comics I read, maybe not for the BZP crowd.   Where was I?   Econ is really abstract
