"Overqualified"!?
Why is there such a word? Is it better to have someone who knows too much about what s/he is doing than not know anything at all about what's supposed to be done? I have this feeling it was a word made-up, so someone's boss didn't look bad.
If you ever hear that you're overqualified for something, it probably means you know more than person talking to you, and that person just doesn't want to look ignorant. No, I'm not overqualified for anything (or at least have never he
Ah, CGI (Computer-Generated Images) spawned great movies like Toy Story, A Bug's Life, hopefully Cars, and some other ones by Pixar (Toy Story 2 was not so great). Back when movies first started to be full-length CGI, beginning with Toy Story, they were something special to see, something different to behold, and something somewhat or totally unexpected. They're storylines were usually pretty good, and the characters' abilities were just so impressive to see.
But now, especially in the last c
Okay, I know the point of the current BBC contest is to make a cute Rahi, but some of the MOCs don't really look like creatures. In fact, I'm somewhat confused as to what they are; on the other hand, there are a few really good MOCs that actually look as though effort was put into them, and they look like cute Rahi.
The trouble is you can have something cute and simplistic, but with enough MOCs like that, it won't look much different than a lot of other entries or non-contest MOCs in the pas
I never realized just how dangerous washing dishes could be.
Actually, it's one of the most boring tasks since boredom was discovered, but Friday night whilst doing this horrible task, a glass cake pan decided to break on me. All I got was what looks like a little scar on my right hand and small spot on my head.
The worst part: I had already cleaned the dish.
FYI, I am experienced at finding the most dangerous way to be injured doing the most mundane tasks without trying. I have gotte
I'm currently not feeling well, so if my thoughts might be somewhat disconnected. That's to be expected. (Fortunately, I kind of mapped out a bit of what I'm going to say before I felt how I currently feel.)
In case you haven't noticed, I've been here for three years. And that three years means a lot of things regarding BZP and of the real world variety (some things I won't blog about).
Anyway, not only is this day special because it's the day I joined, it's also my brother Megaship's birt
We had a pretty nasty storm Wednesday night and yesterday. I think it must have knocked out or done something at the phone company because our land line (and by default Internet connection) have been flaky since then. Supposedly everything's been fixed, but our connection hasn't been stable today even after we were told it was.
In other news, I'm leaving the state of Texas tomorrow... but I'll be back. I'm going to Louisiana for a big event (yay road trip), and I'll just leave you guessing
No wait, I think that's a typo.

I interrupt this blog entry to bring you an important message... okay, an interesting one.
Believe it or not, I was actually going to set up a joke and have a picture of red socks here, so I did an image search on Yahoo. I got several results (far more than I wanted/expected), so I tried some other colors. Same results: way too many. Finally, I put in "socks" and got 1,109,206 results; I then proceeded to Google and got 3,140,000 re
People get too skeptical, and no one can really be trusted. Even if you're known for telling the truth, people tend to doubt you... and you don't even have to cry wolf twice.
The phrase "this is not a joke" means almost nothing anyway, so why use it? It's kind of like using the phrase "no offense" before saying something to whomever you're talking any other time of the year. (I hate that phrase.)
People have these big expectations for jokes. When there is a big joke, people aren't impres
I've been working to piece together some movies from an old video camera (over 10 years), and now I feel a bit old and nostalgic seeing my nephews as babies and celebrating their first birthdays. They grow up so fast.
Some of the videos I ran across (including one I was looking for)... it's just like "wow" to see how much has changed in even what seems like a few years but feels like several at the same time. I can't help but think one thing: My voice as a teenager was so annoying and a bit
Okay, so I've noticed a trend of RPGs (that's Role-Playing Games, not Rocket-Propelled Grenades or whatever else it could stand for) down in Completely Off Topic lately. Now I have nothing against them, but there certainly are a lot of them. Too much product without limitation often causes lethargy. Yes, you have choices, but where should you begin? If you don't figure out what you want to do, you stop moving.
So to keep some order and prevent flooding of them in the forum, I'll be limiting a
I'm still alive. Also, I've been part of this site for eleven years. Less so than I used to be, but I still visit from time to time. The site's changed. I've changed. Such is life. Even though I'm not as much a part of this site as I used to be, I think in some way being part of this site was beneficial. In fact, I still retain some of the friendships I made with people from this site. So even if LEGO were somehow to disappear and the site to shut down for whatever reasons, those friendshi
Ever wonder why LEGO's prices seem so high? Well, wonder no more... or wonder until I give you a possible answer. Then do whatever you want with this information.
Anyway, when you purchase a LEGO item, you're not just purchasing that item, you're also paying for excellent customer service. Now I've seen numerous topics with letters and what-nots of people's experience with LEGO, and I can vouch that it has got to be one of the best companies I've had to deal with.
The times I've had to com
