Nobody Understands

Everyone seems to be panicking over the end of Bionicle, like the storyline's ending too.   *ahem*   I feel like I'm the only person who read this.

Recent Happenings - Updated

The snow outside refuses to melt, so this is good. Sledded down a large hill with other people from our extended neighborhood. A transformer blew out, gave us a small power outage for a bit. The lights on the street blew out and didn't come back on, though, so we got back to our house in the dark. I was hot, but my dad got some frostbite.   Snow, however, continues to avalanche off of out roof. I keep thinking that the house is caving in for some reason.   Also, my grandfather fell and broke

The Great American Road Trip II - 13 - "Spaghetti on Top of Pasta"

Before we left our Kamloops hotel room, we saw what we believe was a marmot which had climbed halfway up a tree. He looked like he was standing guard.   Just a little after 11:00 we left Kamloops for British Columbia via the Yellowhead Highway and Trans-Canada Highway 1. It was surprisingly sunny and the temperature was 14 (57).   After no more than twenty minutes on the road we went up a massive hill at a high altitude. The engine gave it all it could but it sounded as if it was on its last leg

What's Horrible

Feeling like you have the energy to do things but you feel too bad to do them.   I hate it when I get sick.

I'm still sick and don't feel like doing much, but I feel like I'm obliged to make some sort of 7000th post special.   Suggestions?

The Great American Road Trip II - 24 - Mr. Sandman

We had a hard time getting to sleep last night, due in equal parts to excitement, over-tiredness, and altitude. After route planning for a bit, we eventually dozed off.   I awoke at 6:30 and got my dad up - my mom had already awoken and was getting some things out of the car. We ended up leaving the hotel a little before 8:00 bound for the Great Sand Dunes.   The roads there - especially Colorado 150, which leads to the park entrance - are ridiculously straight, continuing in the ancient lake be

The Great American Road Trip - 15 - San Francisco, Part 2

Today, we went out to explore the city. Our first stop was for brunch at a place called Lori's Diner. As we entered, we came up under a jukebox, then up 36 steps. fashioned to look as if it was from the late 40s/early 50s. Posters - which look like originals - advertise war bonds, the forward halves of retro cars displayed come from walls, and small jukeboxes are featured in every booth. While we had fun taking a look at the old tracks available to play, we did not have the necessary quarters to

...

So here's what happened:   I was sitting at my TV, watching some cartoons, when all of the sudden Bugs Bunny, Elmer Fudd, and all of those other dudes came rushing at me. Needless to say, I tried to get away from them, as they looked like zombies. Bugs caught me and threw me into a closet and commandeered my account for a while. Recently, I was able to escape and turn everything back to normal.   EDITBUMP: Good, I didn't miss the promotions.   Kex: We'll miss ya. Iruini Nuva: That one's a s

Dawn on the Range

Our alarms went off at the unholy hour of 4:00 in the morning. Since we'd prepared everything the night before, it was a slightly faster process in getting out the door than usual. We hit the road at 4:40, when the sun had not yet risen, but its light was reflecting off of the cloud cover of the west.   Our first destination: the Beartooth Highway, which crosses the Beartooth Pass in the Beartooth Mountains near Beartooth Peak. (A lot of different names to take in, I know.) The road climbs up to

Update

My grandmother is having surgery on her intestines soon. Though it's an outpatient procedure (I think…) we're going down to her house to stay for about half of the week. Please, keep her in your thoughts and prayers.

Westward Ho!

We left home at 2:55 PM and filled up the gas tank on the way out of town. Like our first trip, we went along I-40 and made good time. Our first stop was at the stadium of the Hickory Crawdads at 4:30.   The good ol' boys manning the front office informed us that they no longer sold pennants—in fact, they stopped production a few years ago because there weren't enough buyers. Nevertheless, one of them offered to take us through the empty stadium to their gift store, and we were willing to go alo

Thank You, All Of You

My grandmother is O.K. In fact, there were not as many nerve endings where they had to operate, so she'll be doing much better when we go down there tomorrow.
