A Great Way To Defend Yourself

So today is that dreaded day, the only day in the year where it's perfectly acceptable to lie to someone's face or do some horrible thing to them. It dangerous, as you never know what's around the corner.   I find that if you just interpret everything as the opposite of what they're saying, that'll pretty much protect you from the GULLIBLE stamp. For example:   You're gullible. (You're not gullible)   Opera is coming out with a patch that will lets you perform frequent browsing operations wi

Updates On Stuff

Nothing's changed with school yet. I've been spending this weekend goofing off working on homework. It's really nice to have that extra day, as it became evident over this weekend that I'm not ready to go back to school. In all honesty, I get an overwhelming feeling of depression when I begin doing it. Of course, it wears off soon after, but you know what they say: the hardest part of doing your homework is getting it out of the backpack.   That's pretty much it on the Life side of this blog.

I Turn 21 In Five Days!

And you know what I'll be doing?   Fasting! It's a pledge for charity - companies donate money to this charity for every person who pledges. It's being run by the Muslim Student Alliance at my university (I'm a part of a handful of multicultural organizations - I am not Muslim myself) Ramadan's going on now, and to give non-Muslims a taste, we fast for a day. On my birthday.   Now, to clear up any misconceptions, I'm very proud to be doing this. It's for a good cause and I'll learn something

Obligatory Iron Man 3 Entry

I definitely enjoyed the movie. I went in with low expectations and was presently surprised. Kept me engaged throughout the whole thing, and I actually enjoyed most of the twists. Some parts of the movie I kinda groaned at (they're at the end, so I can't explain in detail), but overall it was a fun experience.

Postchristmas Entry

Great Christmas indeed! We had a little Secret Santa spiel in our family, so everyone got one another 1 or 2 gifts.   I got three things: C++ Primer by Stanley Lippman and Barbara Moo $50 Wal-Mart gift card Digital Chromatic Tuner (y'know, for instruments)   They were all stuff that I wanted, and I'm really glad to have gotten them. I'm cracking open the C++ book right now improve my fluency in C++.

Lego Star Wars 2

I've never played any of the LEGO <insert franchise> games, and I thought it'd be a good idea to pick up LEGO Star Wars 2, especially since I already said in my Cyan Productions topic that Influx would be inspired a bit by this game. Hard to do that when you haven't played it.   I'm liking it so far. I'm only on the first level, but it's super easy. It's still really fun though, and I'm sure it's going to get harder as I go along. I'm already getting some good gameplay ideas to use in In

So For Those Who Don't Know...

I decided to take online college classes over the summer to lighten my Software Engineering load. Their just core classes, but unfortunately I failed to consider how much work was required to do well in such a short time. It's hard to so much else around here when I have a Philosophy essay to write.   Still, I know I'll be glad I did once school starts back. At the rate I was going, I was going to be on a five-year plan.   P.S. The other class I'm taking is Calculus II. Like most movies, I lik

Well, That Was A Surprise.

Snow? Ok, I'm cool with that. Too bad it's all melted now, so it's just cold and rainy. Not a good look, Texas weather, not a good look at all.

Writers! Help Please?

So... I need some ideas for my role-playing in the BZPRPG. I've completely hit writer's block for the story revolving around two of my characters. I need something fresh and interesting, but my brain is fizzled (too much programming?). Right now, they're working on a marketing project for school, and I need to throw hijinks and drama into that to get some desperately needed CD. If anyone has any mini-plot ideas, throw them this way please.

You Know What I Miss?

The little cupcake with the candle that would appear next to your name on your birthday. That's old school BZPower right there.

New Software Library Staff!

After much time passing, I finally present to you two new BZP Software Library staff members. One of these members will be in a brand-new staff position here. This position, the Awards Management position, oversees the awards that are given out to games. There are 8 awards: 4 Editors Choice Awards and 4 Categorical Awards(1 Best Music Award, 1 Best Graphics Award, 1 Best Storyline Award, and 1 Best Gameplay Award). When a category gets a perfect score, it is in the running for the award for that

Well...

I'm in Austin right now, chilling and taking a breather before my... *sigh* Physics final. But ANYWAY, I'm enjoying being in a different city for a day, and as mentioned earlier, I'm sitting only a few yards away from the LEGO Store that opened this weekend. I've taken quite a few pictures with my camera phone (insert lol-I'm-poor jokes here) and I'll write an in depth recounting of what I've seen later. Must say, this event's a lot bigger than I expected. Never been to a LEGO Store opening, but

2003 - 2004

Oh boy... what is it about second years never living up to the fourth? Beats me...   Anyway, between July 23, 2003 and July 23, 2004, BZP's member base grew exponentially. I imagine many of them joined after getting the beta of MNOLG2 (which was programmed poorly, and thus makes it a sucky game IMO). MNOLG2 and Mask of Light were the main foci of this year, pretty much overshadowing the Rahkshi (at least it looked that way to me...) My game, The Saga Continues, sort of fell by the wayside in te

Back, With Something To Show Off!

Some of you may remember a blog entry where I presented the first video footage of a prototype game that will soon evolve into The Legend of Mata Zuto - Episode 3: Influx (or Influx for short ). It was only 6 seconds, but it was the culmination of a lot of work. Now, I'm back with a 45-second movie clip, showing my progress after spending a couple weeks with Unity and Blender. I've finished rigging and animating the Tarakava model that Mihunai made for me, and the only other thing I need to do

A Returning Story

None of you remember, but a long time ago I started (and nearly finished) an epic called To Die For. Now, I'm proud to announce that the epic has returned, bringing you the untold story between The Infestation and the upcoming 3D RPG, Influx.     First, some background history...   Since late 2002/early 2003 I have been making a series of fan-stories surrounding the BIONICLE storyline. No different than what many others do. This series is known as The Legend of Mata Zuto, and it tells my vers

So Much, Yet So Little...

It's been nearly a month without an update. Talk about wasting my valuable money.   Honestly, nothing interesting/enjoyable has really happened since I posted last. School work and extracurricular activities have been taking up most of my time. On top of that, I've been doing job interviews, while show me just why my GPA is low. Spring break for me, starts tomorrow, but I'll be spending most of the coming days finishing up my homework assignments that are due at the end of this week.   Speak

Back To Normal

I don't know how many of you are the youngest in your family, but for the last 3 years I've had the privilege of getting a week of solace, a week of all the family in one house (and associated chaos) and then another week of solace once the siblings have gone back to work. This is, of course, the last year that I get this privilege, but this pattern of calmness and chaos is something I look forward to every year.   So basically, am I the only one who gets this bonus due to being the youngest?

School's Back In Session

... and besides that, nothing much has happened outside BZP. I have 13 credit hours this semester, as opposed to the usual 16 I've been having. I am hoping this will result in all A's so that I can up my (apparently) lacking GPA. Getting some financial aid stuff worked as out well, but at least now it seems that I'll definitely be receiving it *phew*   I'm also job searching, which isn't very fun, especially when you spend 30 minutes to an hour filling out an application that just ends up being
