Well, the day has finally come where my three-year-old operating system is not current enough to run the programs I want to run. I knew this day was coming eventually, but I was hoping it'd outlast this computer. Should I bite the bullet and pay $20 to upgrade, or should I hold out hope that it'll only be one or two more programs over the rest of the life of this computer?
So, it turns out my first-gen iPod Touch is too old to run the ME3 app thing - it requires at least version 4.1, and 3.2 is the newest mine can handle. So I suppose for now I'll be waiting out until June when I'm stuck at home because of the jaw surgery, and just buying a few months of gold membership so I have something to do during that time to build up galactic readiness. Who knows, maybe by then Bioware will fix whatever made everyone fussy about the ending.
So, as said before, my computer is in the shop, which is problematic for a few things I was planning over spring break. I called the shop today, and apparently when they were doing the repair, someone tore the ribbon cable connecting the monitor to the motherboard, so they have to order a new one, wait for that to arrive, and install that before giving me my computer back. Which wouldn't be quite as bad if it weren't for the fact the keyboard on this rental laptop I've been using is awkward
You know how I've been contemplating for a few months buying a new iPod because I lost my old 30GB Video, my Touch is too small now, and with a Droid, I don't really need it for more than music? Well, I found my old 30GB Video. Syncing it now. The brushed aluminium front was a good idea, and they should do it to the back too, based on all the scars mine has. Still, it works, and keeping it doesn't cost money, where a new one costs hundreds. This also makes affording Skyrim, all three ME game
So, apparently after looking it over, I'm still short on war resources in order to get the best ending. Maddeningly short, too - only about 100 short, which is easily doable by a handful of things I was lazy about. However apparently one of those iOS apps that let you up your readiness is free. I have not used it in months since I really only use it for music anymore, and my old iPod Video is about twice the size, but my first-gen iPod Touch may have renewed usefulness.
So, I started playing Arkham City. I know I'm barely even into the game so far, but someone please tell me the gameplay gets better later on? The cutscenes and voice acting are all outstanding - though Tara Strong as Harley Quinn does make me laugh every time, which is a shame since she really does do an outstanding job - as is the world of Arkham City. So, I think I know why my copy of Mass Effect 2 refuses to work. If I'm correct, it came out right around when that DRM that seals a game to a computer began getting used, and my copy is used. If I'm correct, I'd like to throw it at the jaw of the person who sold me it, but not much you can do. Either way, it's off to find a new copy I suppose.
So apparently my advisor might not be here next semester. I don't know if he's leaving or retiring or if I'm just jumping the gun - he's talked a lot about the next year or two, I can't imagine he's retiring, but he's a longtime member of the staff and hasn't done anything wrong, so I can't imagine he's being fired - but looking at next semester's enrollment, there are new adjuncts and professors teaching a lot of his classes next semester, and he's not listed with the department staff for tha

I have never understood this idea people have that if two people of the opposite gender are really good friends, there has to be a desire for a relationship. My best friend is a girl, and I can say that I've never wanted seriously to pursue a relationship with her.
