Back To School Update

I normally don't update unless I have something specific to talk about. At the moment, I don't have much else to do so I will be writing this during loading screens in Oblivion.   First off, Oblivion. For the most part, I really enjoy this game. The only major complaint I have about this game is that the enemies/monsters level with you. I shouldn't have to fight a level 20 sand crab. Fortunately for me, my Destruction skill is at 96 right now so I am rocking some pretty powerful spells. The co

Back To Back To Back

I have one final tomorrow (American Lit 1), Tuesday (Intro to MIS) and Wednesday (Principles of Bio 1). Dx   I am, however, rather proud of myself for the fact that I received an A in Accounting, which was the hardest class I've taken in my year and a half in college. The material wasn't hard, I think it had more to do with the fact that it was a hybrid class. While we had Thursday off from class, all of the homework was done on the computer; tests were taken in class. Paper tests do not have d

Avengers

Holy cow you guys. The Avengers was such a great movie!   Joss Whedon did an amazing job of giving every character screen time. I was worried Black Widow and Hawk Eye would only be shown in a scene here and there. Instead, every hero gets some rather amazing scenes. Having Banner and Stark play off each other was perfect, the two genius scientists working together and sharing their knowledge. The dichotomy between Iron Man and Captain America as well as between Thor and the Hulk are so remarkab

Avatar

Avatar was a great movie. I think the word 'beautiful' best describes this colorful and lively film. Almost instantly you are drawn into the environments of Pandora as Jake Sully test-drives his avatar for the first time.   Yes, the CGI was amazing. At certain points where action sequences would pick up, you could notice the computer animation, but during dialogue scenes I was blown away. I think the part that I most noticed where the eyes of the Omatiyaca (I think that's what they're called).

Aunts And Fires

As I'm sure plenty of you know, there are numerous wild, blazing brush fires out in California. Normally I wouldn't pay any attention partly because of how numb I've become to hearing all these "natural disaster" stories so often. However, it's finally hit home with me.   Now I was never really close to my Aunts (both unmarried)and Grandmother on my Mom's side of the family, but when someone in your family's life is at hand, you tend to care more. Even though I haven't seen any of them for app

Aspirations

Today marks the first day of my last semester of college.   I would be wrong to say that I'm not excited, but part of me is...anxious, nervous. I know what I want to do with my life; unfortunately, I don't feel as if I am fully prepared to take on those dreams. Ahead of me is a choice: do I want to pursue graduate school or instead find a full-time job? Of course, there are no rules saying I can't do both. Best case scenario would have me working a full-time job while taking graduate courses at

Ask A Mass Effect Dev

Hey guys.   Next weekend I'll be at PAX East in Boston with Andrew/Black Six!   Bioware is holding a panel on both Dragon Age AND Mass Effect. Usually the panels have a small Q&A for fans to ask questions of some of the developers.   Do any of you have any thoughtful questions you'd like me to ask? Plans for the universe, favorite species, etc? Let me know, please, and I'll do my best to ask them.   Also, it seems like Bioware is going to have a signing event so I'm bringing all 3 games a

April First

I don't even get on the internet on April Fools'.   Needless to say, old guy running the toll bridge booth scared me to death. As I handed him my money, he said:   "Sorry, we've been getting a bunch of counterfeit 20 dollar bills lately. I can't accept that."   "It's all I have!" I proclaim, with a slight sense of urgency in my voice, because I was already running a little bit behind and I had a test in my first class. I also had to stop by the bookstore to pick up a scantron.   "How about.

An Entry On Numbers

As you've probably noticed by scanning the blog index, today was "Pi Day." I recently read a comic that is summarized like this: "Everyone should know at least the first two or three digits of Pi. Scientists can get by with knowing about ten to fifteen digits. Anyone who knows more than that are just "meanies.'" (Except it said a different word there.) Seriously, if there's ever a need to know more than a few digits of pi, let me know.   Anywho, onto other numbers.   I aced Physics with a 91,

All For A Bookbag

As I mentioned earlier, I went on a trip to Six Flags over Georgia today. We arrived probably 15 minutes after they opened and somehow managed to find a close parking spot. So we entered the park and bee-lined for the newest coaster, The Goliath. Since this was our first ride of the day, we decided to go ahead and try to sit up front. We wait for our turn, and we go to put our backpack in the little cubbyhole thing they have sitting at the ride exit. I sit in my seat and strap myself in.   One

All Alone

My parents are away to a family reunion in Ohio and I'm left at home all alone. My younger sister had to go stay with my older sister so she can finish her school work. And I don't have to work a single day next week.   Sooooo...party at my house!!   *does party boy dance*

Alan Wake

Has anyone else out in BZP-land played Alan Wake?   I just finished the game today and I'm looking for someone else to discuss theories on the ending scenes of the game.   Overall, the game was assuredly entertaining. The story is definitely the game's strongest element, but the gameplay follows closely behind. The lighting effects are the most beautiful and life-like I have seen in any game, period. Not only with the flashlight, but in the environment throughout the whole game. Shadows move

Age Of Reptiles

Pay no attention to the title. Random blog/bulletin titles is my thing.   I'll be leaving Wednesday to go to New Jersey for two weeks to visit family. See, it's a "tradition" of sorts for the Grandparents to fly whoever is turning sixteen up to their house for two weeks. Only bad part is, I'm going to be going alone. Heck, I even wish my sister were going, so I would have someone to talk to/go places with other than spending all my time doing work for my Grandparents. Of course, thats part of

Abcs To Acts

As are many high school students around the country, I am preparing to take the ACT tomorrow. Unfortunately, I have not had the desired amount of time to prepare for this standardized test, so tonight I've just been skimming over this "pre" test I have. I took the same test last year and earned a 23, which is satisfactory, but I believe I can earn a higher grade now that I have finished Algebra 2 and am currently half-way through College Algebra (sort of...). I hope I can do a little better on t

Abandoned

Hello, everyone. It's been almost two months since I last updated. That's too long. So, here I am.   Last weekend, four of my closest friends and I went camping at Chewacla State Park in Auburn, Alabama. This was the first time any of us had been to this State Park. We chose this site because my friend Joel (the one with the epic beard in the following pictures) had heard that there were some neat waterfalls, creeks and a lake. Around this time of year, it is not unusual for the temperature to

A Preliminary Outline

Let's try this again (stinkin' errors out of no where that close out my browsers!).   These next two weeks will be quite hectic around here. I'm currently scheduled to work every night this week from 5:30 to 9:30, excluding Wednesday; I also work Saturday from 10a to 5:30p, which makes that the first Saturday I can actually go out and do stuff after I'm finished working! Unfortunately for me, I forgot that Monday was my sisters birthday and I forgot to request off. For some reason unbeknown to

A New Skin

First off, congrats to Nate and the rest of the staff that worked really hard (in their spare time, mind you) on getting this new skin pushed out. It wouldn't have been possible without great cohesiveness and teamwork. Good job guys.   Nate did a superb job of capturing the tone and theme of the old forums while still giving us a contemporary feel to our favorite website.   Everyone is entitled to their own opinions.
