It's Upsetting.

It's upsetting, to me, that when a class is watching a video in relation to terrible events that have occurred, they laugh. Or make jokes. Or they insult those depicted in the video.

It's sickening.

Kids will be insensitive. Surely by now you've found that out from this very site alone?

Surely, they're old enough to behave. I'm younger than the majority of them, so it's not really an excuse.

What kind of footage is in them?

what grade?

Footage that would be inappropriate to discuss on BZPower due to its graphic nature. As for grade, it's a class primarily made up of Juniors.

A kid can be any age, any level, since being a kid is based on being "childish," not one's seniority.

Laughter is the mind's response to something that makes it uncomfortable.

Using foul language and insulting the individuals who went through things in such a video isn't laughter. Doing so in front of a speaker is also beyond uncalled for.

Being a kid or adult is based upon age, that's why people become a legal adult at the age of 18. Immaturity and maturity, or having the mindset of a child or adult, is the problem in this scenario. They can control themselves, they've done it when they've done tests, they've done it when they were scolded, and they've done it when the teacher told them to shut up and pay attention. They can hold mature conversations and be mature in debates, but none of them seem able to take a serious video seriously.

Thing is, they have self control and they do know when it's appropriate and inappropriate to be a moron. They're not a group of ten year olds, they're a group of students looking at colleges and many of them hold prominent positions within the school that does call for maturity.

I've never experienced something that bad myself, but there are some people whose senses of humor are rather skewered -- they joke about serious matters instead of taking them seriously. Thank goodness I've only met a few people like that.

Then again, this sort of thing, to me at least, seems to go hand-in-hand with joking using profanity. It's sort of the same thing: taking something serious and turning it into something that's meant to be funny.

I have found myself among similar audiences. It amazes, no- scares me that people can be so insensitive sometimes. I can't help but wonder what do they get out of it? Why do some people feel so compelled to act disrespectful and immature?

It blows my mind. And not in a good way.
