As a freshman in high school I used to wear this shirt that said "Respect my peeps" and had a picture of some marshmallow Peeps-- a common type of candy given to friends and family to celebrate Easter here in the US.

By the time I got into college, I had seen enough of those so-called "witty" T-shirts, and decided they were too cheesy for me to wear. I got rid of the Peeps shirt, and recently had a silent laugh when I saw an adult at my college with that same shirt I had worn as a dorky high school freshman.

Some of those joke T-shirts can be quite funny, though. When I did wear them, I'm pretty sure people tried to one-up the jokes on mine too, though I can't think of a specific example.

I don't try to one-up them. I just laugh and say I like their t-shirt.

I have a shirt that says "Maybe if this shirt is witty enough someone will finally love me".

I have a friend with the shirt "I'm with stupid <===="

Naturally, she and I got our picture taken together.
