You don't actually need that eyepatch, your eyesight is normal.

Actually, it's been postulated that eyepatches weren't used due to poor eyesight/missing eyes, but rather for quick adjustment to dimly lighted areas. When going from a very light area to darkness, in this case from the top deck of the ship, where it's super sunny, to the lower bunks and whatnot, it would take too long in a stressful situation to allow your eyes to adjust to the darkness. The eyepatch would allow one eye to be completely adjusted to the darkness, so that a switch from one eye to the other would enable better and quicker adjustment.

 

It hasn't been proven, but at the same time there's no evidence that the eyepatch was specifically designed for lost eyesight.
