Gone Skyrimming?

So, in addition to the number of "Game of the Year" accolades it's been getting, practically everyone on the TF2 server I usually head to has been telling me I need to go get Skyrim.

This is probably good advice given Bethesda is good at what they do. But Skyrim is $60. And I have neither an Xbox or PS3 since until now Mass Effect is the only thing on either that really interested me that I couldn't get elsewhere, and I use a Mac, as some of you may recall from the months of fighting different emulators to get Mass Effect 2 working.

Well, I googled "Skyrim Mac", and it turns out the same place that I got the game-specific emulator for Mass Effect also has one for Skyrim. And unlike Mass Effect where it was designed for a completely different model Mac with entirely different chipsets, the video I found testing this one appears to be running on either the previous or the lower-end model of what I'm using. I meet all the specifications, too.

Should I drop the $60 for Skyrim and hope it works, or wait until it drops in price?

The game is amazing. Simple as that.

However, sixty bucks is a ton of money, and I appreciate how much it is considering I get less than five hundred a year, typically less than three hundred. It all really depends on how much you'll like the game. I personally suggest finding a friend who has it, playing on their computer/console, and seeing how you feel about it. If you do though I suggest you play at least five hours into it; yeah, it's a lot, but the game takes off at a slow start. A dragon crashing next to you in the first five minutes may not sound slow, but for a little while you're going be doing a lot of walking. Once you get into it though it becomes veeeery addicting.

It was $40 on Steam back on the 25th. Too bad you missed that.

I say go for it anyway.

EDIT: It's $40 on Steam again for today.
