Sumiki Posted February 24, 2012 McDonalds is pretty gross. I have shunned them ever since I found out how they make their Chicken McNuggets, and now all but refuse to partake of their food after I sucked up some pure vanilla extract at the bottom of a milkshake ... Quote Link to comment
~Allegretto~ Posted February 24, 2012 Yeah, I stopped eating McDonalds after I read Fast Food Nation but the fish was only a dollar today so my mom stopped there. Food quality has dropped even lower than it was the last time I went there; I could barely stomach the fish. Either that or my mom's increasingly high-quality cooking is making it so my body rejects anything else. Quote Link to comment
Burnmad Posted February 24, 2012 So you go to a cheap fast-food restaurant you know to be horribly disgusting and unhealthy, and you order the fish? - Quote Link to comment
~Allegretto~ Posted February 24, 2012 Well, there aren't really any good options at a McDonalds. The only reason my mom drove there at all was because it was close to where we were shopping and because it was cheap today. It's not like I go there every day. Quote Link to comment
Burnmad Posted February 24, 2012 I'd hope not. The only thing McDonalds has going for it are the fries, and Wendy's are better IMO. - Quote Link to comment
Roablin Posted February 24, 2012 The only thing I like about it are the deserts. McDonalds is pretty much the king of fast food deserts. That and the Mctoran, but alas, they only came once. Quote Link to comment

LewaLew Posted February 25, 2012 If they are soaked with grease, they probably aren't following the process correctly. The fries are suposed to drain for 5-10 seconds, and the holding time for boxed/bagged fries is one minute. If someone's in a hurry, they will often cut corners to lead to faster clock times. My store has never had these problems here. Of course, mine is a franchisee store. Different franchises have different standards. And you shouldn't believe everything you read. McDonald's is one of the favorite targets of pot-stirrers and internet trolls. A short while ago, Twitter trolls hijacked a Twitter ad-campaign by McDonald's to give their fast-food horror stories. McDonald's also would not get high-class sponsorshi deals with the Olympics and Coca-Cola if those other companies and the government's health agencies were unable to confirm proper health standards. As I said before, though, if the quality of your food at McDonald's is sub-par, it has more to do with that particular store than the corporation. I work at McDonald's, and I've seen the process from beginning to end. Some of these problems require customer input for us to fix it. For one thing, the milkshake problem means the machine is calibrated incorrectly, and unless someone tells us, we don't know. And you can order fries without salt. From what you've described, you ought to complain to the store's owners. Quote Link to comment

Soaked with grease and covered with salt, no thanks. McDonald's or Wendy's? - Edit: Lewalew, you can't deny, though, that the food is often pumped full of preservatives. I've seen nuggets under seats in perfect condition in vans belonging to families who haven't had McDonald's in weeks or months. Quote Link to comment

Only the unhealthy things taste good. Quote Link to comment
~Allegretto~ Posted February 25, 2012 @LewaLew: I see your point, although most of the McDonalds here are the same way. They haven't really been getting any better, either, and there are better options around here for not too much more. Better customer service, too... @Burnmad: McDonalds. I actually like Wendy's fries alright, it's just the rest of their food that's a problem. @Dragonfly: Ehh, I just prefer thicker fries with less salt. Steak Escape and Charley's, specifically. Shine Posted February 25, 2012 I once got a fish sandvich that had scales on it from McDonald's. Never ordered that again. Quote Link to comment
Toa of Dancing Posted February 26, 2012 ...Oddly enough, I like the Fillet-O-Fish. And most fast food, for that matter. Guess it's because I've burned my tastebuds with hot sauce so much... Quote Link to comment
