Hey all! I've got some news to share.
First off if you are purchasing tickets you should do so before 11:59PM EST. Otherwise you have to wait in a long line to pick them up, which would not be fun. Tonight is the mailing deadline.
Second, the event has been added to the BZPower Community Calendar! Please RSVP on every day that you will be attending! This will let me know how many members plan on attending and on what days they will attend. It will help us plan the member meetup accordingly.
Original Entry as follows:
For the past few years I've been going to New York Comic Con, heck last year I did a small piece for the front page on BZPower as there was a small amount of Lego to be seen.
This year I want to do more than just that. I would like to see if anyone is interested in a BZPower meetup at New York Comic Con.
Last year the event drew more than 105,000 visitors at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center, and that number has been steadily increasing. However usually before the event they sell out of all of the tickets before the show. Earlier this year I picked up the 4-Day passes, and you want that time, because it would be impossible to see everything otherwise.
New York Comic Con will take place on October 11-14, 2012.
Online Ticket Prices are as follows:
4-Day Pass: $85
3-Day Pass: $65
Friday: $35
Saturday: $50
Sunday: $35
If you are interested you can follow this link(link will take you to the NYCC website) to purchase tickets. Tickets ship at the beginning of September, if you don't want to wait in a huge line to pick up your tickets I suggest you order them soon.
For a bit more info: Directions and Hotels. Those are two very useful links if you need directions or a place to stay. It should be noted that staying at a hotel is very pricey, if you have to travel to get to the convention center that might be more worth it.
For example, I live on Long Island and we take the Long Island Railroad into the city. Round trip it costs about $17 and an hour of travel time each way. This is much cheaper than staying in a hotel for $250 per night. Staying at a hotel outside of New York City will be a lot cheaper, you just have to worry about getting to the convention center. If you come in via Penn Station you can walk to the convention center.
Now, if anyone is interested or goes to New York Comic, feel free to comment here to say that you are interested in a BZPower meetup. If there is interest in this, the idea will move forward to discussion of location of meetup and date/time.
If you have any questions or comments feel free to post them here or send me a PM.
