The Doctor of the Day

pretty great special but I think people have been waaay overselling it, seeing the Doctors together was honestly the best part of it for me

the story wasn't anything amazing and I thought the ending was dumb

buuut it was enjoyable and certainly not the worst thing Moffat has ever done.

(also for god's sake, can everyone please stop assuming that everyone else has seen it and thus it's okay to thoughtlessly post untagged, warning-free spoilers everywhere? like, I knew several major plot points and most of the jokes because of gifs/quotes/whatever all over Tumblr, Twitter, Facebook, and here. I've only seen one person, out of all the people I know who have been ranting and raving over this, actually bother to give a warning before posting spoilers. one person.)

Well people have been waiting for it for awhile now. It's bound to cause some excitement. And it was well done. Well, I think so anyway.

I just wish I had someone to geek out with... None of my friends understand...

I disagree. I watched it today, and I think it might take the place as my favorite episode. I felt that every element in it made sense and played an important role (with the possible exception of the Moment manifesting as Bad Wolf Rose), and it explored aspects of the Doctor's character which had never been explored adequately before. It was the best-paced episode I've watched; less frantic than a lot of new series episodes, but at the same time far less plodding than most of the original series episodes. Then again, I haven't watched everything in Doctor Who, and my opinions on what I have watched are far from typical: I actually preferred A Time of Angels and Flesh and Stone to Blink, in no small part due to those episodes revolving around the Doctor and others in the core cast instead of new characters that they didn't give me adequate reason to care about.

I also disagree, but not quite as fervently. I felt it was a superb episode, and on its own made sense and was a great relief compared to the latest episodes. That said, it seems to conflict with certain other episodes and I honestly thought gallifrey was already frozen in time rather than burning forever...?

It does not rank anywhere near my favourite episode, but it is a highlight of the show as a whole, definitely. Also I love Clara and I think she's becoming the best companion since Martha at least, as long as she doesn't get screwed over in series 8.
