Allow me to direct you to the following image:
You see that thing in the back? That is the Wii U. I own this.
You see that thing in the front? That is the special Smash Edition Gamecube controller, released today alongside Super Smash Bros. for Wii U.
You see that thing in the middle? That is the special adapter, required for using the above Gamecube controller.
I do not have this.
I walked into EB Games today, in my little ugly stupid town where everyone hates Nintendo, and purchased the Gamecube controller when I discovered that the special controller bundle was out of stock (here? seriously?). But there were no more controller adapters. Curious, I asked the guy behind the counter when I could expect to see them back in.
And he told me that I should not get my hopes up - that Nintendo had apparently contacted their corporate office recently and informed them that no more of the Gamecube controller adapters would be sold. They would not be restocked.
EXCUSE ME?!
So now, my journey begins - I have 30 days to find a controller adapter and purchase it before I must return my Smash Edition Gamecube controller. An epic quest to play Smash Bros. the way that it's meant to be played... it starts now.
In other news, I now own Super Smash Bros. for Wii U.
