The dispute will finally be settled

With the rebirth of BIONICLE, a great debate has arisen, and I am now able to put all of our qualms to rest. In my recent entry about making mountains into molehills, the comments brought up a serious issue: the color of the element of electricity. Specifically, I am a proponent of its color being yellow because I don't buy into the popularity of the color blue, and that Pokémon represents the element with the color yellow. I had many (read: a couple) people disagree with me on that sentiment, so I decided to use my math and science skills to better humanity to prove my point.

I used the resource known as Bulbapedia to acquire the complete list of electric type Pokémon (pure and dual-type) and entered in their official Pokédex color. Using the advanced mathematical concept of "counting" to total up how many electric types are of each color, I obtained the following results:

  • Yellow: 18
  • Blue: 8
  • White: 4
  • Black: 3
  • Gray: 3
  • Red: 3
  • Brown: 1
  • Pink: 1

Ergo, my scientific findings have brought me to the conclusion that electricity is yellow by a landslide. Have a good day, everyone. :P

I usually think of yellow or blue and white as electrical color schemes. And since blue goes with water, that pretty much just leaves yellow.

Purple!!

Although, yes, I generally associate electricity with yellow, so won't disagree in that regard.

Also, using advanced mathmatic techniques known as "percentages" Yellow only accounts for 43% of electric Pokemon, which while it is the majority, it isn't over half of all electric pokemonz.

Electric Gym Leaders also tend to have a lot of yellow going on, so your theory does seem quite sound.  Now we just need a Master of Lightning and this matter will be put to rest.

Lightning is totally purple, what lens doth thou view the world through, ye bumpkin?

-cough-

I actually think it should be green. In fact, all of the elements should have proper green representation. Hahli Mahri had the right idea, folks.

'sup.

I tend to like an approach like the Electroids.' Yellow color schemes, but bluish electric bits. It's a cooler color scheme that way anyway.

I do understand the woes of the color purple, especially in BIONICLE and LEGO sets. And while, yes, it isn't over half, it is still the most represented. Also, there is a scientific reason for wanting electricity to be purple. (perhaps I'll do an Equation of the Day on that...)

Green has its fair share of representation, so no. :P

This is a fairly good point. I do find yellow and cyan/blue to be a cool color combo and would like to see it done more often. (Though, maybe I'm the minority on this opinion, but I don't really like any of the Mixels...)

Lightning is usually purple and white or yellow. But manmade electricity tends to be yellow.

I should do an Equation of the Day on this...

There has only ever been one correct response.

I mean, yeah. :P
